    thank you for this video it has been very helpful, I liked and subbed :).
    I wanna ask you if it is possible to sculpt the terrain and then export the sculpted mesh into a game engine since the game I am working on needs a mountain for the level to take place on, and in unreal engine sculpting terrain isn't as detailed and easy as in blender. You know I have to make small roads, some erosions, some caves and underpasses, etc.
    Do you have any tips or recommendations? Or maybe you could make a small video on the matter?

    • @pzthree
      @pzthree  2 года назад +1

      As for going from blender to a game engine. It is possible but can be pretty tricky. I would highly suggest trying to utilize the game engines terrain system.
      Usually importing a height map and adjusting it there in engine is the way to go.

    Hey, I was wondering, Do u know of any way to preserve the edges of terrain tiles? I am working with triangular tiles with cliffs on them. I need the tiles to be interchangeable/align. Hence they need to have the same boundary conditions -> edge vertice height

    • @pzthree
      @pzthree  6 месяцев назад

      You would have to model the terrain as one big piece. Break it into sections and use a decimate modifier for each section. There should be options to hold the borders.
      I wouldn't recommend doing that though. I had experimented with it. Not really a great idea.

    This is amazing, however i fail to see the use case when so many tools can generate realistic terrains automatically? Dont get me wrong its an amazing feat to paint these features by hand i just dont get why you would?

    • @pzthree
      @pzthree  2 года назад +4

      Generators are great tools but may not solve everything. If you need to rearrange terrain for level design this is usually the techniques you would fall back on. If you have a generator that allows for a mix of manual and procedural creation you still have to consider how it will be utilized and create the underlying believability.
      GIS data converted into Alphas or custom tools then hand placed has in my opinion always delivered some of the best looking results. A best of both worlds approach.

    Thank you for the tutorial.
    With Blender 3.0, is there any reasonable way to show the grid-like quad edges of the mesh in Sculpting?
    I was not able to find any way to do it. For me, it makes the editing much easier because I can see what I am doing.
    Edit: I meant the ability to see the mesh superimposed on the shaded surface, as shown in several places in the video.
    It appears that Blender took a feature away, or buried it : (
    (thank you)

    • @pzthree
      @pzthree  2 года назад +2

      Top right of 3d view. shading drop down menu should be a wireframe checkbox in there. That should do it.

    • @BrendaEM
      @BrendaEM 2 года назад +1

      @@pzthree thank you for replying, BUT I meant the ability to see the wireframe and on the shaded mesh surface, both at once.

    • @Monkeypolice188
      @Monkeypolice188 Год назад

      @@BrendaEM I think his reply still applies? The drop-down arrow to the right of the "Show Overlays" option, there is a Wireframe slider which can be used on all shading methods.
