Hi, I saw you had some 50 million vertices during your sculpting. When I get to around 10 million, my pc starts lagging like crazy even though i have a pretty good setup (4070ti with 13700k cpu). How are you able to have so many vertices in your build? Is there a setting or do you have an insane pc setup? Thanks
I have found that the multires modifier offers much more stable performance than dynamesh/voxel for high end details. Try using it next time you reach the millions. For clarification, the final sculpt for this leviathan was 8 million faces. (Previously 35, but I reduced it for better performance).
Wow, this comment really underlines how absolutely crappy sculpting tool blender is. I'm can do 20M with real time post processing in Nomad Sculpt on my new ANDROID TABLET..and up to 30M without post turned on. This sculpt here would be a piece of cake on Nomad
I think it has more to do with Blender being a modeling software not sculpting. That was never its strong suit. Its gotten better through the years but its not the programs bread and butter per say @creativeearthian1702
@@creativeearthian1702didn't expect Nomad Sculpt to be that performant 😂 Edit : I made some sculpting test today on my 7840HS/4060 with 8G VRAM and I can reach to ~24 millions polygons before it crash on Optix mode. The details you choose to add, and the way you just know how and where to add them is inspiring. Its stupid but I honestly feel proud when I see this video. Like, "yeah...I know that Guy". And I second someone else's comment about the music you chose. loved the monster hunter theme in the beginning. But the other music just kept getting even better. And it fit the sculpt perfectly. I think having an ear for the right music to link with your videos is important also. can't say it enough man, but very well done. this is "Prophet", from discord, by the way. just FYI.
Out of curiosity, what materials and brushes did you use in this sculpt? I’ve just started blender, and I have quite a few reptilian characters I’d love to try to recreate.
damn, i will do that too so f*cking now !!!:D what an inspiration! do u have a good short tutorial in mind that shows the multi res used by pros? i know how to use it, but somehow i like to work with dyntopo more, with multires i somehow cant get nice details :/ i would need multires at 8 or 9 subds but than my pc hates me, no idea how to make everyhing nice and fast but also ultra close high detail...
start with a denser base for your multires mesh. it seems the higher the number of sublevels the rougher it gets on the performance. I didn't ever go beyond 5-6 for this project, and had an overall smooth experience.
@@bUildYT not exactly. it's just dense enough to not require anything beyond sublevel 6. if you would like a detailed and voiced rundown of my process on this creature, you can check out the online course/asset bundle I recently released offering just that: davidpdigitalart.gumroad.com/l/BlenderLeviathanBust
@@DavidP-DigitalArt yo bro, i baught it on gumroad, looks good, will learn a lot from it, but do u only talk in the comentary? I was hoping u talk from time to time in the 16 hours life footage too, sometimes u even move ur mouse as if u would be explaining smt, but cant hear u :/

Technically possible, would require some very minimal rigging, but after putting in a sort of basic skeleton it should be possible to animate this however you needed, would take a bit more extensive work to make it AAA animation ready however
you could with proper retopology (the current mesh not being optimal for such purposes) as well as a displacement map to save the sculpting detail as a texture. you could then move the base mesh around or even animate it, and then apply the details during rendering.

Blender is just bad, even Nomad, a mobile app, can easily handle way more polygons than Blender can, but you can try using multiresolution modifier to temporarily lower the poly count and not have Blender get a seizure
