I sell one digital product bundle for $70 and sell 2-4 a day. For those here who are selling digital products around $3… bundle them!! People will spend more money on bundles.
Let's not forget we are talking about 100k revenue, not profit. Depending on your type of product the profit can vary from aprox 90% to 20% Also to clarify, if it has not being mentioned, that to have 10 products performing like that you need quite a deal of multiple number of listings. 10 products alone will not cut it even if they are inspired on best selling examples. In this case the shop has to be very flexible and with a wide range of products although in the same niche, in order to be able to include 10 great performing items. In most well performing shops only a small number of listings usually scores the desired, or beyond, sales.
The real challenge here is that most Etsy stores sit with nothing selling at all. It doesn't matter if its a $10 product or a $200 product. So its not an issue of sales per day/month, its an issue of no sales, vs. a trickle of sales, vs. the rare store that is very busy. That's why these numbers are unrealistic. There are millions of Etsy stores. Its hard to compete.
Easiest way to gain sales is “do the work”. I started selling about 1-3 items a month and then research where to market and now I’m around 20 items a month. It’s all about doing your homework and using everbee to your advantage! If your marketing to the wrong buyer you won’t sell anything
@@thegenxproject5941 it's about finding the right keywords, the right niche that has low competition and then being able to fill the need for that niche. that's why tools like everbee are so valuable, there's no way to find the right niche without it
I like this video, and I like Everbee and use it, but this scenario is still extremely difficult. I have about 50 hand made woodworking laser cut products... prices are anywhere from 19.95 to $350. and I am just barely at 1 single sale per day...and that's taken tons of hours and work to get there. I probably clear about $50.00 on average so that's about 18,000 a year.
Thanks for the helpful video. My husband makes unique decorative bone coasters with a pincushion for needles. In 4 years, 3 sales. I changed keywords to more relevant ones, did some advertising, but it didn't help much. Is it worth to sell on Etsy such items and what you can advise?
This is just a formulae to get you started. Every seller needs to enter his/ her own conversion rates based on their shop's performance. It is a way of working backwards to arrive at the required sales.
This is a great video for Etsy sellers that sell digital products. People who create their own hand-made (non-digital products), POD products, and arbitrage products (such as second-hand items and thrift store finds) should be aware of this math/strategy as well, but keeping in mind that these numbers are profits, not revenue (listing fees, the cost of advertising either via Etsy, Instagram, TikTok, etc) and Etsy's fee increase in April 2022.
Actually it IS gross revenue and not net profits. I was thinking the same thing as I watched the video. Based on that, if you’re doing POD or even wholesale jewelry or whatever, you have to look at what your typical markup is & go from there, taking into account all the business expenses you mentioned in your comment. If your markup is 30% for example, you have to take that into account when figuring out how much money you’re actually netting for yourself.
Lots of sellers on Etsy reach 100K a year selling Print On Demand products - mugs, T-shirts etc. POD is the booming trend on Etsy. No start up costs, no inventory, no packing/shipping. RUclips is now choc-a-bloc with POD gurus, and Get Rich Quick schemes all centered on POD. The problem is the profit on 100K is likely to be around 25K. Hardly enough to support one person for a year, never mind a family. Without cultivating a unique handmade niche, most Etsy shops would need to make 500K a year to make a decent living.
@nickdelhanidis is right, the spreadsheet needs 4 additional columns at minimum to analyze your projections. it needs - cost, profit, margin and the 4th being total profit projection. Note this does not include your shipping model (free/other). good luck all. Thanks for the vid Cody, the more we help each other the better!
People are more likely to purchase and click on lower-priced items though, so getting to the $100,000 mark isn't actually unrealistic if you're selling things like digital downloads.
Looks doable, a numbers game that obviously involves more that meets the eye. Hard work, persistence and constant learning will eventually create good results.
Cody you look like a much better looking Christian Bale :) but more importantly I wish you all success & blessings. Thanks for the quality content & product 👍
Make small goals with deadlines and just DO IT!!!! ❤❤❤ keep going. No matter how you feel about what you seem/look like. That doesn't actually matter. It's fear lying to you and helping you make excuses.
Open multiple shops. This way it is more likely to get to the right number of total shop views per day (if you sell 20/30 dollars items with a more realistic 1.5-2.0% conversion rate). You will probably need to work intensively on socials as well to drive costumers to your shops.
I don't think running a successful business is for the faint of heart. If you throw in the towel from the perspective of realistic numbers, you're focusing only on the negative and not on the solution and actionable steps. If you pick to focus on negativity/I can't/impossible, you might as well quit now. Save yourself time and energy.
