  • @krishnamary

What I don't understand is the concept of "mistake". OK I can say Thank you to Hashem for everything, but what if I make a mistakes and have "negative" consequences, results after (like going to wrong doctor, hiring a bad solicitor without proper thinking and prior research, catching a cold in a wind coz I did not wear a scarf...) when I have negative consequences of my own wrong choices how can say Thank you to HASHEM if it was my own lack of thinking that caused the consequences..... I like the idea of saying thank you, but if we have a freedom of choice, then not everything is from HASHEM... I pray HASHEM gives me understanding here, because I need a professional explanation here... Thank you ;) and shalom to everyone

that is a very good question. But if you read The Garden of Gratitude and what the Rabbi is saying is even those things you say thank you for, because ultimately HaShem guides everything. When we say thank you even for our mistakes or for bad things happening to us as a result or just bad things, we are saying "thank you for the bad things such and such and then we pray....it is a spiritual thing that defies logic.

      Hi,
You have to remember that God knows what you have done and still love's you, and the fact is that every day God sends you back to the world and believes in you that you can be better(every single day).
You also has to remember, the world is accurate and there are no mistakes, all things that happened had to be this particular way for a purpose and none of them are bad, we're calling them "Bad" is for the lack of understanding.

Very interesting question - the way I understand it is that when you decide to do something the thought is what you control but the outcome is not up to you. You can pull the trigger but whether you hit the target is decided by Hashem. So coming back to your question ... when you succeed in making your error Hashem has decided that you succeed in that error and if he has decided that then it is for the good because God does not do any bad. So one must thank God for allowing you to make that mistake. Why he allows the mistake is not always clear, but it may be so that you will know where you are holding and hence from there you must correct yourself and in the process you grow and become a better person - and so one must say thank you Hashem !!! The Rav explains that to think that you have any real control outside of Hashems will is lack of Emunah !!! And to add how many times have you made a " mistake " which clearly turns out to lead to the better outcome !!!

you can order it from Breslev.com or any Judaica Store. If they don't have the pamphlet or CD (ENGLISH) then they will order it for you.
