Oh she was built for high speed on open water..no severe bouncing. The damn jet engines. .the slicing through wind! ! Thanks for sharing your adventure. . Thats a beautiful machine. .
mikkel hansen that is the most ridiculous comment I have ever read, Why would you think there are no bugs at sea? I have been miles off the coast fishing while being bitten by bugs! When I was younger I worked on a scale boat we were 150 miles from the coast and they were plenty of flies out there!
+Justin Angers At ski speed it wouldn't really. Yes those two turbines output quite a bit of heat up close but at speed the cold morning air quickly mixes with the heat. You could water ski behind it for sure but if your earplugs fell out you'd have some hearing damage.
You are pretty lame. There were a multitude of portable HD cameras available in 2006 even if it wasn't GoPro. The point was how do you have a boat worth millions and neglected to film it with a decent camera. You are a sad individual to bother to research that. Consider yourself owned.
IngeniousFirefly Actually, GoPro was founded in 2002. Their first camera released in 2004 with 35mm capability and their very first HD camera being released in 2006. Funny how a quick internet search would yield some knowledge. Typical neckbeard beta male.
Jordan Lee Actually, it's probably not worth millions. You can get older ones for $200,000, It's probably in the neighborhood of $500,000 to $1,000,000. Especially considdering that you can get a private jet for as low as $1,000,000.
@jmr1068204 - The water is a Venturi cooling system for the exhaust gasses. Raw water is pumped in through little jets and as you can see in the video... you can put your hands in the exhaust with the engine running. It also looks very cool with the water vapor blasting out of them in the running shots.
+Michael Hollier It might if you could stand being dragged through the water for a few minutes until it got up to speed. Oh and don't forget the 500 ft ski rope too.
Sorry Zack... this was shot 10 years ago... no HD cams then and we were just messing about. Actually we broke the then offshore speed record several times without realizing it.
Turbine engines are significantly more efficient and powerful than reciprocating engines. The problem for most folks is that they cost 10 times more. You are hearing incredible power but since there are not pistons it doesn't have that growl, which I happen to love. Just curious if it uses a planetary gear system to reduce the rpms to the props? This boat is an amazing example of art combined with engineering:)
oh and for anyone who wants to argue and say that they dont use gas. direct from the manufacturers website. TURBINE MARINE, INC. specializes in the manufacture of products powered by 1450hp to 1840hp aviation gas turbine engines. Avgas is distinguished from mogas motor gasoline, which is the everyday gasoline used in cars. Unlike mogas, avgas contains tetraethyl lead, a toxic substance used to enhance combustion stability. but hey its still technically gas
@bolutempejalanan Probably a gyro stabilized camera under a helo or plane. There's video of an offshore race somewhere on YT that was filmed with a gyro-cam under a plane fuselage. It is amazing how stable it is.
Could hear the screws surging as they left the water. Throttle control must be hard with gas turbines to prevent damage to the gearbox and or over-revving. You have to be very fast on the throttle to stop shaft surge and bog down.
actually, where gas turbines are incredibly inefficient is when they are at idle.. they are almost using as much fuel then, as they are when under regular (not wide open) throttle..
Yes, it's mine. It didn't cost anywhere close to what a Nor-Tech costs though. You're right about not being able to afford one, although I wouldn't want one even if I could afford it. I prefer my single engine deep vs. Cheaper and easier in every aspect but with the right combo, you can be running 100MPH no problem. That's as fast as I need to go. If I want to go faster, I have friends with 180+ cats that will take me out for a ride.
Is this direct drive off the turbine into a transmission to the prop shaft or is it exhaust gas turning the turbine to a transmission which turns the prop shaft?
Cool boat. I've considered building a turbine powered lake boat. Something around a 25' tunnel with a small turbine, around 600-800 shaft hp. The nice thing about turbine engines is their efficiency goes up at higher power settings, and they'll run virtually forever, at full power, between rebuilds. Initial cost is high though, as well as the drive system cost.
@Riles07 Here's a thought to add to the discussion. The millions the rich spend on this boat go to support the families of the people who designed and made this boat, as well as the people working in the industries producing the materials that went into this boat. This in turn supports the families of those people's grocers, car dealers, real estate agents, clothing retailers, etc.
To be nice to people on the dock when you depart :) It also keeps the engine room cool and the air coming into the engine which circulates the engine room... cooler air = more power.
@Riles07 - you'd be very surprised at the millions of dollars that these owners donate to the poor and starving every year... about a million times more than you do Riles07. These guys work hard, 24/7/365 for their rewards and give generously... I'm a poor schmuck, and who doesn't work half as hard and admire people who take an occasional day off to let their hair down... even then they're constantly on their email and phone working.
Is it only me who thinks that these turbine engines sounds beautiful?! Everytime i hear one in real life i get goosebumps
My dad filmed this back in 2004 :) He never thought it would end up on the internet! Not bad for an old camcorder, huh? So proud of my old man!
Our brother is in this too! I was 2 when this was filmed, so STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT THE QUALITY!!
Honey...punkin...i have thought about you every night of my life. Would you like to get married?
IMPRESSIVE BOAT!!!
Love the sound of the Turbines spooling up... This is excellent, love to go for a ride in this boat. Fascinating...
Oh she was built for high speed on open water..no severe bouncing. The damn jet engines. .the slicing through wind! ! Thanks for sharing your adventure. . Thats a beautiful machine. .
That's awesome. I'm sorry about all of the negative and clueless comments.
One can only imagine the fine seafood restaurant these people will dine at afterwards.
i wonder how it feels to get smacked in the face by a bug at that speed. lol
or a fish lol
There are no bugs on sea. only if you're close to the cost :)
mikkel hansen you're right. As a boat driver with his licence I wouldn't travel close to coast at those speeds!
mikkel hansen that is the most ridiculous comment I have ever read, Why would you think there are no bugs at sea? I have been miles off the coast fishing while being bitten by bugs! When I was younger I worked on a scale boat we were 150 miles from the coast and they were plenty of flies out there!
Hit by a bee at 160 mph right on my neck. Riding motorcycle....Nearly took me off the Bike.
yes the sea trial was out of the boynton inlet..and then it was at the boat show after the show in the key west poker run.
wake boarding behind this thing would be scary as hell
It would be really hot too
Nah, just a long rope!
LOL, do it
actually the captain will never allow that to happen because if you die.. it's their fault
Richard Caballero Broken legs
+Justin Angers At ski speed it wouldn't really. Yes those two turbines output quite a bit of heat up close but at speed the cold morning air quickly mixes with the heat. You could water ski behind it for sure but if your earplugs fell out you'd have some hearing damage.
Awesome..you are a master of racing Turbine Jet engine boat.... very nice.... respect from Bangsamoro Philippines...👍👍✌️✌️🇵🇭😀
Thanks 👍
@eeemanjam - they run on 80% peanut oil 20% Kerosene - and exceed California's omission targets for 2050... your prius does more environmental damage.
wríñg
No matter the resolution or quality it HAS surpassed 5 million views....
Dear Santa........LOL
best boat video on utube

R.I.P headphone users
Riding into the beautiful sunset.. at 150 miles per hour.. how serene.
and here i thought my powerstroke whistled, lol..
passengers look very comfy inside!
RIP headphone users lol
AS LONG AS I'M ALIVE I WILL NEVER FORGET SEEING THIS TOPEDO!
How in the hell do you not have a HD GoPro? History channel WW2 documentary has better resolution.
You are pretty lame. There were a multitude of portable HD cameras available in 2006 even if it wasn't GoPro. The point was how do you have a boat worth millions and neglected to film it with a decent camera. You are a sad individual to bother to research that. Consider yourself owned.

Because they spent every penny they had on the fucking boat hahaha
Jordan Lee Actually, it's probably not worth millions. You can get older ones for $200,000, It's probably in the neighborhood of $500,000 to $1,000,000. Especially considdering that you can get a private jet for as low as $1,000,000.
GoPro's didn't exist in 2005... only standard def handy cams and square tellys... how quickly we forget.

Sorry what pixel was the boat
I want one of those so bad, I m going to break down in tears in a sec,,,,outrageous, I love it.
I LOVE IT,, OUTSTANDING DISPLAY OF WEALTH
150 mph my ass, with an open top?
Boat engines are cooled from the raw sea water, it's sucked up, cools the engine, then is dumped into the exhaust to help cool it as well.
Cool boat but im not feeling that paint job...
Was thinkin the same thing, does anyone know what it is? All I can see is feathers! Lol
Love that startup sound. Beautiful sound.
I guess water skiing behind that thing is not going to happen..
+Michael Hollier It might if you could stand being dragged through the water for a few minutes until it got up to speed. Oh and don't forget the 500 ft ski rope too.
lol...I luv the smell of turbine exhaust in the morning..I might find a way...have a great day!
if you lag you drag.
buyvektr sjíboatveterr
i would love to tear up the IJsselmeer in holland with such boat, the shear power and sound of the turbines is amazing!
wow I can say is oh my god !!!!!!!!!!!! and yes get a better cam and please re do this video
Sorry Zack... this was shot 10 years ago... no HD cams then and we were just messing about. Actually we broke the then offshore speed record several times without realizing it.
alvinski100 dollards

So be honest who would go tubing
I was thinking about some waited ballasts in the back for wakesurfing
sweet boat
@stevemangram It still has props.... they are connected to the turbine's drive shaft.....
oh and for anyone who wants to argue and say that they dont use gas. direct from the manufacturers website. TURBINE MARINE, INC. specializes in the manufacture of products powered by 1450hp to 1840hp aviation gas turbine engines.

but hey its still technically gas
nothing like a nice relaxing day on the water
Wow.. it's so... quiet!
Sweeeeet got to love that cat hull....they do love to go Fast !!!!!!!!!!
Very very nice boat..! Greetz from Holland
Awesome video. Plenty of "race"...but I didn't see too much "luxury".
@bolutempejalanan Probably a gyro stabilized camera under a helo or plane. There's video of an offshore race somewhere on YT that was filmed with a gyro-cam under a plane fuselage. It is amazing how stable it is.
Awesome... The boat is epic the only thing I don't like is the twin turbine whine....
I had one of those go by us on the intercoastal headed to west palm never heard anything like it....pretty bad ass
I love it, and whats even better is that they didnt add some demented music to drown out those B you t full engines,,,,,,,,,!!!!!
Awesome boat
Wow the Shear power of those turbines is awesome!
That thing is riding smooth as hell.
I wish I could put one of those motors on my Racing Moped!!! lol. Great boat, Great Builders and much RESPECT..RH DSD
Wow this boat looks perfect running on top of those waves..just awesome
awesome boat !
that is some serious money and power on display there people
Could hear the screws surging as they left the water. Throttle control must be hard with gas turbines to prevent damage to the gearbox and or over-revving. You have to be very fast on the throttle to stop shaft surge and bog down.
Looked amazingly like Boynton Inlet.
Looks great
actually, where gas turbines are incredibly inefficient is when they are at idle.. they are almost using as much fuel then, as they are when under regular (not wide open) throttle..
Gotta love the no fear family boat ride. At race speed. awesome boat.

That boat design always looks like it's built to do a back-flip to me
Cool boat
@SoftwareSkull it would go like 3 mph without the water friction, because those props can't push very much air.
What's up with the water come out of the hot side? Is it set up to act like water injected headers on a piston enegine, to help quiet the beast?
All that power and the jet impellers only get that much water out the back! This thing won't go anywhere!
That was a fun ride, but seriously, how many gallons of jet fuel to the foot does it get?
Is this direct drive off the turbine into a transmission to the prop shaft or is it exhaust gas turning the turbine to a transmission which turns the prop shaft?
+SanFranciscoBay Got to be the exhaust gas. You can't just speed up & slow down a turbine like an internal combustion engine.
Cool boat. I've considered building a turbine powered lake boat. Something around a 25' tunnel with a small turbine, around 600-800 shaft hp. The nice thing about turbine engines is their efficiency goes up at higher power settings, and they'll run virtually forever, at full power, between rebuilds. Curious to why the inside video shows it without engine hatches to where the outside video shows with hatches on?
The water coming out is for cooling. Most boats pull in water that they are in to cool off the motor, exhaust.
That's one Hell of a hole in the water!
You wouldn't want to waterski behind that bad boy!
búyvéktrç sjí bóàrt
This is like the video before the clips they show on Destroyed in Seconds.
This boat is amazing
MAAN, THAT THING IS GOIN' TO TAKE OFF
HELL YES!!!! Dude is just green with envy because he can't get a chance to do it.

dude in the yellow at 3:50 is like a pilot. lol
NOT Miami or Key West but heading north from Lantana bridge on the intracoastal waterway then east out the Boynton Beach inlet. But who would know...
To be nice to people on the dock when you depart :) It also keeps the engine room cool and the air coming into the engine which circulates the engine room... cooler air = more power.
50 foot boat : $1.3m
2 Turbine enigines: $2.8m
Gas: $7 a min
Crashing into a rock because your videotaping behind you: Priceless
And great for water skiing!
eltrc ski boat baeyr
love turbine engines
Nice boat but I prefer the sounds from a couple of cammed big block supercharged chevys.
we have a V16 chevy motor video coming soon... just for you Jeramiah :)
plenty of room up on the bow for a good trolling motor.
yes there us 50 ouñds mínñ
That thing doesn't float... it flies!
Very cool.
Very funny!
Great video.
Hugs
Kind of looked like they were at the Boynton Beach outlet.

Mannnn, that sounds just like a F/A-18 Hornet Take-off, haha. Awesome watercraft.
yeah nice boat, how much was the truck?
super boat
i am crying :)
the boat is flying
that boat + a banana = freakin awesome
I love this boat! The sound of the turbines must drive the dogs crazy!!
Standing by for warp drive sir.... Engage warp full speed ahead helmsmen... WARP ENGAGED SIR! @ 3:28 :D
Cool boat, Amazing engineering.. But what good would it really be?
Uh, the film is at least seven years old. Cameras have made significant improvements since then.
little known fact, its actually got real bald eagles in the gel-coat
im sure your neighbors love it when you power up your boat!!
Amazing
