Thanks! Immersive engineering is an amazing mod and pairs very nicely with hbm ntm extended on 1.12.2 and covers some of the shortcomings it has that are normally present in the older 1.12.2 version. The arc furnace ended up being extremely useful for producing tons of steel quickly which is a very necessary material used extensively throughout hbm.
Wow, I really wanted to stick to IE instead of using Mekanism mainly. But the arc furnace is way overboard. For not that much of a benefit. There's so many difficulty limits that make it frustrating. First is the engineering blueprint for the arc furnace. Why did they restrict certain ones to villagers only. Than you have the graphite system which is another time sink like steel. Followed by the rods degrading. You can't automate replacing them. To top it off, the insane power requirements. You're better off making 200 windmills and connecting directly to the Arc furnace. Instead of killing your entire base of power.
I love hearing people complain about the functionality of a mod where you don't even have to go mining anymore taking too much time to maintain the Machinery that cuts your time investment by like 85%
Because it is realistic all of the steel related stuff is close to the real world for a mc mod from using coke instead of plain coal slag as a by product and its use as filler in concrete or road underconstuction ok the blast furnace isn't really a furnace to create steel its purpose is too desoxide Lage amounts of Ore to pigiron (crude/raw cast iron with lots of impurities and carbon(~4, 3%C for a low melting temperature ) excess) and that cann be refined (if still liquid) in a connverter with same scrap metal (for cooling) by blowing oxygen in it and burning away the impurities and carbon or(if cooled down) by using a arc furnace also with scap remelting and blowing oxygen in it to burn of unwanted stuff And be thankful they didn't add the limestone in the mix too it is used in every step with liquid steel (even welding rods) it helps to pull out phosphorus or sulfur (impurities) Oh and for clarification the Fe C alloys ar defined like that: Up too 0,01%C = Elemental Iron aka Fe 0,01%-2,14%C = Steel 2,14%-6,67%C= Castiron ( more than 4 % is too bridel and not seen commonly) 6,67%C liquid iron is a saturated on carbon and cannt take more in solution
@@Sirisma the biggest issue with IE is that it is worthless in modpacks. the progression, especially in terms of power generation, is ridiculous compared to any other mod. your basic power generation cant even reach 100rf/tick, and *every* large machine needs rf in the thousands/tick to operate at full efficiency. so get the upgraded power generation obvs, duh. except you need chestfulls of iron and steel to get that fully set up. which you will struggle to get without already having excavators, which you cant use without insane power immersive engineering is an awesome mod, but the iron/steel and power requirements are horrifically unbalanced compared to other mods
@@hashtagrex it is extremely easy to set up a biofuel refinery that overproduces enough biodiesel to actually run three times as many diesel as it requires to power. Unless it's changed, I believe you can use tin as an additive when smelting copper to get bronze, and possibly other alloys as well. ETA: derp, you covered such. Got confused early on when you referred to coke dust as the singular additive.
It's likely a power issue, you need to supply it some 512 RF/tick for each operation to run concurrently, so about 6144 RF/tick at full load. You shouldn't really consider making an arc furnace if you can't generate at least 4kRF/tick or have some insane energy buffer structure, as not only will the furnace barely run, but you'll also waste durability on the graphite rods(they take the same damage regardless of how many items you smelt at once). The go-to way in IE to generate this kind of energy is via squeezer+fermenter>refinery > 2 diesel generators setup, and it eats a lot of resources. Also, you need the items inside to be spread out. Items from dropper conveyors are spread out by default, but perhaps certain itemducts/pipes will instert them as stacks instead.
i cant get steel from your mod pack but instead fo=rom something ewlse, therefore i cant get blocks of steel from your modpack and it wont work? im playing ftb revelations

Vallen : Show blocks needed to construct arc furnace
Me : **Cries in mining**
Just made this with extra materials I accidentaly crafted while making a diesel generator .-.
The power input location is a bit dangerous. I got zapped a few times and died.
I wish HV wires could be insulated :(
christ...
Well, that's pretty immersive
Just like standing near extremely high-powered machinery and uninsulated HV wires in real life
My modpack has mekanism as well so as soon as I can make mekanism cables I tend to use those instead for safety reasons.
Hey man I really like your vids but I was wondering how do you get a HOP graphite I got
From smelting HOP dust. HOP Graphite Dust is created with 8 Coke dust (coal coke tossed in a crusher) in an Industrial Sqeezer.
u explain it very well... u got a new subscriber
nice vid mischief!
+alex karagiannis Thanks!
What mod do you use to show what you're looking at?
+GoldenNugget the one probe
Thanks!

So much LEATHER
Can you automate the replacement of graphite rods?
If you still need to know, you used to be able to but the dev removed that feature around a year ago.
You can at least enchant them with unbreaking, so they will last a bit longer.
Daedalus 27 Bleh, I'll stick to Mekanism Factories then. I'm a follower of Direwolf20 and believe everything should be automatable. >.
this mod is meant to be a little more realistic than the others
@@alanwatts8239 Utter "realistic" in the same sentence as a game where you punch trees for wood is beyond stupid.
Can someone explain why my arc furnace INSISTS on smelting one item at a time?! I'm assuming it's a power issue but have no idea how to fix it

Will this work with smelting other objects e.g cobblestone into stone????
I dont See a reason it shouldnt
No, only ingots
i cant get steel from your mod pack but instead fo=rom something ewlse, therefore i cant get blocks of steel from your modpack and it wont work? im playing ftb revelations
It should be altered so that every mod uses the same steel.
so this makes crusher obsolete?
+Aaron Crusher has more uses
for example?
Aaron if you use both in 1.7 you don't have to worry about slag
what if you put a smelted HOP graphite ingot into a crusher? would it make 2 HOP graphite dust which you can smelt and repeat the process?
+Jesus_McGee nope

Lol I run this mod on a 2012 HP notebook with shitty APU at 60fps
Anyone here know about the uncrafting table mod? It absolutely destroys thermal expansion by being able to reverse ingots into ores + pyrotheum
+Super ShadowMaster64 The uncrafting table breaks most mods.
Yeah. So cool you responded btw. Like your vids. You are so quiet for a minecraft youtuber
Do you think mod devs should try to find a way to stop this or just let players have their fun?
+Super ShadowMaster64 I don't like to be shouted at so I try to return that to the viewers. :)
+Super ShadowMaster64 Eh. It's always been up to the players. If measures were taken to prevent it, another mod would be used instead. *shrugs*
How do you get this MOD

If you have an original Minecraft account you can use the Twitch launcher to download mods including this one (immersive engineering)
We hav immersive eingineering but I cant create Steel Sheetmetal Stab ... why?
i needed electryum and this mashine takes electum
So does Tinkers Forge
A bit late, but use the killin (silver+gold and any fuel) for electrum
I'm doing it the exact way on the and video it's not fuckin working
you can smelt iron ore directly into steel
No. You can't. You need Coke Dust
