I've worked with kilns and various pottery. The mug is safe to drink out of, but broiling it may have exposed it higher temperature making the mug more brittle/ breakable. I'm more worried about the handle breaking off than anything. It'd be a nice desk piece for the lucky winner.

This year I went to my first con. I left for a bit to go get lunch. We went to a restaurant a ways away so by entering in cosplay I got some weird looks. I was eating when I saw a Maka cosplayer complete with a scythe. I was very amazed. So, in the middle of restaurant I jumped up and ran over to get a picture. I thought that she would be all concerned with my behavior but she was happy to take a pictures and talk. I have to say it was not a bad introduction to the cosplay and con world.
