Ultimately, I feel good because of two things. The first is Trump’s ground game is awful right now and doesn’t seem to be getting better. A strong ground game has always been key even during the so-called Trump years. The second is that Kamala has a much better favorability rating than Hillary. I think commentators have forgotten how despised Hillary was in 2016 even by those who voted for her.
I think that's often an overlooked fact. Despite winning the popular vote, Hilary had incredible baggage. The Clinton's had faced years of criticism from the right, but even among Democrats she wasn't that popular. She just didn't bring the enthusiasm we're seeing with Harris among her own party, and her campaign had an abysmal ground game, especially in the rust belt. She basically ignored it completely. I know SO many Dems that didn't vote because they felt it was a forgone conclusion she would win, and I remember there were huge amounts of people who voted for Trump literally assuming he would lose. (Basically a protest vote... That actually won) I feel better because Trump is easily the most hated figure in America, he's not getting more votes, Kamala on the other hand, is probably going to significantly out perform Biden. Trump's base has only tightened for MAGA voters, but he's not picking up MORE women, minorities, etc voters. Basically he's stuck at 30% of likely voters. (And his rhetoric has only become more and more polarizing, he's not getting "independent" voters or anyone who voted for him in 2020.

I am a voter in Nebraska's Blue Dot, and local reporting is saying that a GOP Senator (last swing vote on the issue) has firmly said that he won't vote to change the rules less than 2 months before the election. Some in the GOP still have some independent thought. This Senator represents an Omaha district, so he is representing his constituents, not the cult.
Senator McDonnell is definitely doing the right thing. AND he wants to be Mayor of Omaha someday. If he was the deciding vote to take away a wonderfully unique aspect of Nebraska politics (along with our Unicameral), he could kiss any future ambitions goodbye.

It's basically impossible to do that. There is no way states would give up what power they have only to never get their way ever again. Also if one political side ended up having that many states willing to do it, it wouldn't be as serious an issue for that side anymore as their politics have already won all the states.

I know the faithful are still there but they don’t seem to be as loud and proud as they once were. Plus we have Crazy Kari and abortion on the ballot. I'm a Progressive and a huge Bulwark fan. I press refresh every day and ask myself why. I guess it's satisfying to see Republicans walking back what I consider to be extreme or wrong positions, and to see them mystified that the overturning of Roe has done all the horrible things that us activists told Republicans for years it would. That women would die, that ambiguous, vague state laws for exceptions and criminal sentences for doctors would leave women needing miscarriage surgery or dying waiting, and we knew this because it all used to happen constantly before Roe. Women dying from coat hanger abortions or back alley clinics before medication abortions were available in the 90s. 80% of all abortions are done before the 9 week mark. A clump of cells, basically. Mitt Romney was pro-choice until he ran for President because his favorite cousin died this way, but during the Tea Party movement thst was started "organically" by the Koch brothers, turned the extreme up to 11. Now Alito is planning to block these meds next via the Comstock Act. If women don't have all rights to an abortion, and the exceptions are rape, incest or life of the mother, how do the victims prove any of that? How is a 12 year old going to find a lawyer? How is a doctor supposed to know the exact time that a woman is going to die from sepsis, and jump in before that and not have mistakes and deaths? THIS IS WHY Roe provided abortions up to the time of the baby being viable to live outside the mother. The tiny 0.0001% of late term abortions are dearly wanted babies, and only tragically performed when a baby has a fatal deformity or abnormality like being born without lungs or brain, and are born only to suffer and die within hours. The mothers are now traumatized by having to carry a dying baby to full term It's immoral. There are zero doctors ending the lives of healthy babies. That is an insult to women and doctors. We also warned that these extremists wouldn't stop at abortion. They would go after fertiity treatments, and birth control, and that's exactly what they are doing in Congress and in state houses. If Trump wins, the 20% minority will force this on the 80% of the country without apology. I try not to get mad that The Heritage Foundation has written most Republican policy for 40 years. Like most policies in Project 2025, are from The Mandate for Leadership, which was originally written for Reagan. He enacted 60% of it. His work against labor unions and tax cuts for the wealthy was responsible for the 51 trillion dollar transfer of wealth from the middle class to the top 10%, and it's the reason for the massive inequality today. All of these operatives achieved this. I'm glad to see their regret, and to see them working to right the wrongs, although they might not agree with me about what those are. 🇺🇸

I hated living in Nebraska, it was definitely an experience I hope never to repeat. That said, I sure as hell voted in 2018 for expansion of medicare in Nebraska when it was on the ballot as well as blue down ticket because I felt like I owed it for not voting in 2016. I thought that we had it in the bag, that there was no way that Trump would get elected and my vote wasn't needed. The strategic blunder the Heritage Foundation made was putting their plans into one package that could be "named". If they just kept a shelf of white papers that they could hand out to the relevant constituencies as needed, they would have avoided this quicksand morass. I'm a Progressive and a huge Bulwark fan. I press refresh every day and ask myself why. I guess it's satisfying to see Republicans walking back what I consider to be extreme or wrong positions, and to see them mystified that the overturning of Roe has done all the horrible things that us activists told Republicans for years it would. That women would die, that ambiguous, vague state laws for exceptions and criminal sentences for doctors would leave women needing miscarriage surgery or dying waiting, and we knew this because it all used to happen constantly before Roe. Women dying from coat hanger abortions or back alley clinics before medication abortions were available in the 90s. 80% of all abortions are done before the 9 week mark. A clump of cells, basically. Mitt Romney was pro-choice until he ran for President because his favorite cousin died this way, but during the Tea Party movement thst was started "organically" by the Koch brothers, turned the extreme up to 11. Now Alito is planning to block these meds next via the Comstock Act. If women don't have all rights to an abortion, and the exceptions are rape, incest or life of the mother, how do the victims prove any of that? How is a 12 year old going to find a lawyer? How is a doctor supposed to know the exact time that a woman is going to die from sepsis, and jump in before that and not have mistakes and deaths? THIS IS WHY Roe provided abortions up to the time of the baby being viable to live outside the mother. The tiny 0.0001% of late term abortions are dearly wanted babies, and only tragically performed when a baby has a fatal deformity or abnormality like being born without lungs or brain, and are born only to suffer and die within hours. The mothers are now traumatized by having to carry a dying baby to full term It's immoral. There are zero doctors ending the lives of healthy babies. That is an insult to women and doctors. We also warned that these extremists wouldn't stop at abortion. They would go after fertiity treatments, and birth control, and that's exactly what they are doing in Congress and in state houses. If Trump wins, the 20% minority will force this on the 80% of the country without apology. I try not to get mad that The Heritage Foundation has written most Republican policy for 40 years. Like most policies in Project 2025, are from The Mandate for Leadership, which was originally written for Reagan. He enacted 60% of it. His work against labor unions and tax cuts for the wealthy was responsible for the 51 trillion dollar transfer of wealth from the middle class to the top 10%, and it's the reason for the massive inequality today. All of these operatives achieved this. I'm glad to see their regret, and to see them working to right the wrongs, although they might not agree with me about what those are. 🇺🇸

Yeah, I heard one review of recent polls that indicated WOMEN -- of all political stripes -- are breaking for Harris/ Walz almost 7-3. When you consider that women are approximately 51% of the electorate, it doesn't bode well for Trump.

In person , day of voting always favors the rich, the retired , and the small business owner … all of which are GQP demographics… The same system penalizes the working class , the poor and employees … this is why the GQP always wants to end all forms of early and absentee voting.
I can only speak for my wealthy Republican Florida county, but the rich do NOT stand in line. And the snowbirds, who claim FL as their state of residency to save on taxes, vote by mail.
I hated living in Nebraska, it was definitely an experience I hope never to repeat. That said, I sure as hell voted in 2018 for expansion of medicare in Nebraska when it was on the ballot as well as blue down ticket because I felt like I owed it for not voting in 2016. I thought that we had it in the bag, that there was no way that Trump would get elected and my vote wasn't needed. Trump has made me radicalized in politics in making sure I don't mix with maga people not even casually, I can't help but call them out at every instance and it's made socializing pretty awful. However, I can't look the other way or ignore it, these people think folks not speaking up about their atrocious behavior is acceptance, but they are the ones who are cowards when confronted and made to think. To the point of Nebraska, it's just not for everyone, which is hilariously the state slogan.
