Americans are already accustomed to being on top so in my opinion most just take it for granted that they are entitled to cheap gas, a big car, a big house, the chance to become a millionaire/billionaire, without the slightest consideration for the effects on the population at large, on other countries, or on the entire planet.

I'm a gay person living in a 65+ percent Trump county in western Kentucky. (I'm in a 90% Trump rural precinct.) I have half a dozen Harris-Walz signs out along the country road in front of my house. Two different people have pulled-in off the road, and come up to my house, just to tell me that they support them too! They wanted me to know that I'm not alone, AND they were glad to see my signs to know they weren't alone. AND lots of folks honk and wave when they drive by in gestures of solidarity. Now, think of the impact Chappell Roan could have.....

So many people complain that the Democrats have disappointed rural America, and perhaps they are right in some ways, but let's be honest here--the Republicans have never done anything for rural America and, in fact, have caused greater harm to the people there. At least, Democrats try to help all Americans in rural areas and coastal areas. And in social matter like LGBTQ+ (a great concern to me because of my daughter and her wife), we Democrats are head and shoulders better, more positive, more helpful, more supportive than Republicans.

It's never made sense to me why anyone who isn't a white, straight christian male would support the modern GOP. People love to say “I don’t talk about politics” as an excuse for not being informed and not defending the truth. Politics means the activity of government and the pursuit of political power. LGBTQ+ rights, women’s healthcare, any-discrimination, cost of living, etc. are social issues impacting human rights and wellbeing. If you bury your head in the sand over “politics” you are complicit when oppression prevails.
