I remember a few years ago when drivers were tearing the cars so bad that the owners got together and set a rule that if a driver purposely tore a car up that the drivers had to pay for the repairs on the cars. Because of that the amount of wrecked cars and the amount of damage dropped dramatically.
My suggestion is to implement those directives again.

Aggressive and contact are two different things. I like SVG and the Mark Martin approach. Even Schrader.
I like racing. I like to see who can win. I don’t care for - actually I strongly dislike!- wrecking and pushing to get into first place. If you can’t drive it or the car can’t get first then so be it.
I actually hated DaleSr’s driving style a lot of the time, and a few others.
I wanna see a race, not a bully elimination pissing match where the supposed winner happens by accrual.

The existing rule works well. My opinion is that they should give the crews the opportunity to fix the car (in the pit or behind the wall) and if the timer runs out then they're out. As far as driver track aggression--they shouldn't be allowed to wreck someone and advance their position. I like the idea of sending them to the back. The replay is good enough that announcers often see it as it's happening.

Why is it that if you flatten tires in a wreck and you need to be towed to pit road, you get to work on the car?
If it is going to be the same across the board, the way it should be, if you cannot drive to the pits under your own power then your race is over.

It is such a shame, coming from not only a former driver but a current team owner, that we are saying from a fans perspective that this level of aggression is fun to watch and exciting. I like this podcast but its getting to a point where we cant keep letting the voices of our motorsport get away with not keeping nascar accountable and we continue to praise this manufactured drama and talentless racing. We cant be okay with Harrison Burton having a shot at a championship and Chris Buescher/Bubba Wallace not. We cant be okay with Watkins Glen (which is also one of the bests tests of the skill on the entire schedule) turn into a bumper cars match with about 7-8 combined overtimes between the Xfinity and Cup races. And we definitely cannot be okay with hyping up the championship race in Phoenix knowing that not only could one guy wreck his 3 opponents, but a guy with multiple wins on the season could potentially lose a championship to a guy who has less top 5 than the other guy has wins.
Its okay to hold people accountable, its okay to say this is bad and we need to change it and think of ways that we can change it for the better. Its so sad that we have Dale’s co-host (on the daytona review show) say that the playoff system is what it is and if you dont like it then oh well… as a lifelong Nascar it just breaks my heart to hear someone on a very well known podcast just say that so easily.
Without the fans and drivers Nascar is nothing and the sooner we as a collective realize that, the sooner we can go back to having competitive races and real championships worth racing for.

  • @StarTrekGeek47
    @StarTrekGeek47 3 месяца назад

Well especially now too that toe-links are so fragile these days. It's weird that cars could potentially be made undriveable by a failure that is relatively common but only requires a 2 minute repair, but NASCAR would still not allow them back on because they needed to be towed back.
I think maybe extend the damage clock and get rid of the towed back requirement.

Any car that gets crashed on lap 1 should have every chance to fix it...bring 2 haulers if you must. Having a clock or rules against that is ridiculous. Cars are metal, rubber, and plastic...it's just one more thing that makes it seem less and less like a nascar race. The caution near the end of 90-95% of races is also too coincidental and leads to the wild ( stupid) finishes. Once or twice a year is one thing...every week wreck fest at the end is not what nascar was ever about...until the new safer walls, cars, kids, rules. It's about 2 steps away from drivers controlling cars remotely from spotter stand. We're getting close.

Some bumbing and rubbing is fine. The occasional dump into a wall yeah sure. But I feel like tight racing for laps on end that closes with little to no contact is where you prove yourself on the track. Simple comparison but even in racing games I'm not gonna ruin someone's race because I know I'm faster and they're just in my way. I don't care if its a 5 lap sprint, keep your nose out of my a$$ and I'll show you the same respect. Chaos on restarts is always gonna be a problem though.

Track limits are needed, and the cars need to start falling apart when the front bumper is used.

Just shows the lack of talent in the cup series. We have more race etiquette on Iracing. It shows cup drivers are mid level drivers at best. Definitely not professional level drivers.

Once a car goes down two laps, it stops adding anything to the show, but they certainly can detract. I don't want to see junk riding around the track.
