I met you Kenny when I was a kid in Talladega. You were talking to Schrader, and I came up and tried to ask for an autograph. Before I could get the words out of my mouth, you said “hey kid, listen to this”, and proceeded to tell Schrader a super funny story (and then gave me my autograph). I would pay good money to hear that story again. Wish I could remember it!

Agreed. I just wanted to see him succeed and he did. I don’t think we truly realize just how little time he really had with his daddy. They were literally just getting started; he was still just a kid. I don’t think there is anyone out there that could have performed better than this man did in that situation. To my knowledge he never had a true bad word said about him. A class act all around. Big E couldn’t be more proud.

When it comes to famous father-son duos, few can match the legacy of Sr and Dale Jr. The late Sr, a legendary figure in the world of racing, would undoubtedly be proud of his son’s accomplishments. Despite having all the ammunition to veer off track and make mistakes, Dale Jr remained steadfast and never let his success go to his head. He stayed true to his roots, displaying remarkable maturity and sportsmanship throughout his career. His ability to navigate the challenges of the racing world with grace and integrity is a testament to his character and the values instilled by his father. Together, they have left an indelible mark on the sport, inspiring generations to come.

It doesn’t get more “real” then Kenny and Junebug!! Awesome chat.. your slot car story touched my heart. My brother Jimmy was obsessed with slot cars at 6 years old. Hershey put a slot car track 1/2 block from our house. Jimmy loved it, like nothing else. Dad sat at the kitchen table for hours building his cars, wrapping engine armatures and putting those blue tires and using “blue magoo”. Jimmy was challenge champion for 23 weeks straight!! Grown men would cry, he was unbeatable. He was almost too small to sit on the swivel stool at the track. He never won any money, but unlimited track time. He had to wear a hard hat designating him as “challenge champion. And it didn’t fit his head. We lost our Jimmy a few years ago suddenly. As we were processing the house, we found his slot car box above the garage. He kept it just like you both. Dad did woodworking and built the slot car race. How fitting that his birthday is this week and you chatted about this topic. Actually great memories but brought tears for sure. Thank you

I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you doing this interview. I don’t watch nascar anymore. I just kinda lost interest in watching it on tv. But when I did watch I wasn’t a JR fan. Not because I didn’t like him I was just a Gordon fan. But now that Iv been listening to JR’s podcasts I have found a huge respect for him and found myself relating to the way he thinks. Same with you Kenny, I have found you to be so down to earth and to me that’s what matters. When Dale said that he went back to the bus and was crying his eyes out because he couldn’t seem to get out of his rut, it gave me goosebumps to know that people you think are bulletproof are just as human as me.

Kenny- thank you for getting Dale on your show. What he did on the track got him in the HOF - but his dads shadow sadly stopped at Juniors age. What he does from now on is not walking in his Dad’s shadow. If you think what he has done since he retired is great just wait what the next 20 years will bring. His dad was a wheel man of the best caliber but the influence JR has will be felt for decades to come. Thank you Kenny and thank you Dale! Looking forward to the next 20 years! The best is yet to come!

One of the best interviews I've seen with Dale Jr! Those that say Jr. wasn't as good as his Daddy... haven't paid attention to the man he's become. I remember the days when his post race interviews were awkward and shy and I would have never thought then he'd be broadcasting races and have a media company on down the line. He's changed and contributed to the sport just as much as his Daddy did...just in his own way. Love you both....thanks for this!

20:05 That 15th then 10th then top five story gave me tears. It’s both EXTREMELY wise from a business perspective and showed an amazing love, understanding, and commitment to support Dale. Both you and Dale live motorsports; it's your life passion and something you enjoy as a fan, hearing the stories, and sharing perspectives on the past and present state of the sport is important. Newer fans, unlike me, whose first race was in the late 1970s as a kid, helped explain where we came from, how we have evolved, and where we're going as a sport. Thanks for the incredible content. I look forward to many more years of honest, down-to-earth views.

I've met Dale Junior a few times away from Nascar in Daytona and he is just straight up the nicest guy I told him I didn't want to bug but I wanted to shake his hand and good luck at Daytona in 2004. I know not to bug anybody when they're eating because it's rude. And I didn't ask for an autograph as I got tix for that besides I had breakfast with Mark Martin that same day at a fanfare at the Volusia Mall.

Being from Northern Minnesota Nascar wasn't a part of our fabric..Junior's dad started me watching regular with all his shenanigans...Tony Stewart cemented me in Nascar after that..Junior was Dale's son and honestly I thought was overrated..looking back it was unfair to compare father/son..Now today when he gets in the car I have to watch...cause I'm pulling for him..This kid is so genuine and speaks honestly about things that has to be so painful for him...I'd call him the best spokesman for any sport out there...He's must listen/watch if your trying to learn something about Nascar...great stuff.

Herm, really great interview and hard to say all the good things I want to say about your friendship with Jr. Jr is so humble and that’s a big part of his like-ability. He brings so much to NASCAR as he’s a link from the past stars to the new stars. Loved the part on Blaney.
NASCAR would be wise to promote the upcoming stars to help grow the sport. Jr has really found his own style in broadcast and podcast and his take is on the money for the fans!
Thanks for the interview….watched it all.

Hey Kenny - I'm about half way through just had to stop and say what an excellent job you did - I've never seen anyone pause enough to allow Junebug to open up so much and give such detailed answers on not only his emotions but his car knowledge as well! How lucky am I to have my two favs together! I do wish he looked back with a huge smile and successful thoughts, glad you rattled off his stats - he was an Icon and a Superstar! Love this 💞🏁🎉 Martha in Miami : )

Kenny I am watching from Taiwan and think you give the best interviews because you are straight forward. When you cruise around Mooresville and showed some history it was golden! Thank you. I also think the real moments is when you are talking and being like you are on the track or off and telling it like it is. When Dale just asked "I don't know $h!t about horses"! That's what's up! I mean we are all adults and lets sound like it!

Solid interview. Two great gentlemen chattin it up. As a 32 yr old SC southern raised i miss the 90s and early 2000 NASCAR. Darlington and Atlanta were awesome in person. So nice that we have these podcasts to remind us of the best days of racing. Jr's podcast is awesome too! He keeps a wide variety of people on for some good ol conversation!

Dang Kenny Wallace, ur my guy. Elevated to hero status even.
Ur an amazing guy with a great life and rich AF with the who's who list of friends you have. AND I have to mention it. You pushed my personal hero Dale Earnhardt to lead in what would be his last Cup win at Talladega. I'd ran 2nd to that American legend every time given the opportunity.
Don't ever change a thing unless you want to. Luv ya later and sincerely ur fan. Ric Cotter from Ripley TN

As always Kenny another great interview. It's amazing that you and Jr had the foresight to create a business off the racetrack. In reality, I'm sure it never crossed your minds 10-20 years ago " hey podcasting is going to be my next business adventure" Glad y'all did. I do wish you would have asked JR about any update on him forming a Cup team. I know from his podcast he wants to, but the cost of charters and cost of running a Cup team is outrageous and has him apprehensive regarding sustainability.
