Bonus habit 5: Taking public transit over an Uber or car ownership.. makes going downtown enjoyable and knocks out every car related expense you mentioned

Car ownership is incredibly expensive. I did pizza delivery in college, and it really opened my eyes to how much a smaller vehicle with more efficiency would save me. Even week by week! Don't buy a new car. If your city is built for it, live without one! E-bike, Mopeds, Transit will still get you there quickly.

I delivered papa john’s in college with my Honda civic! That’s how I knew a small, reliable car was the best

A touch of pushback on the suggestion to buy clothing at Wholesale clubs: The material and quality of most of what you will find there is not up to par and will fall apart. This is one of those distinctions of "cheap" v. "frugal", in that if you're paying $45 dollars for a pair of work boots, but you have to replace them every year because they fall apart, or you can spend 90-100 on a pair that will last you 5+ years, you're wasting money that way. It's not about "cringe", it's about long term thinking.

We want all the pushback and all the perspectives! Thanks for sharing this, totally makes sense if you need something durable for your career. I myself make youtube videos... so that material at Sam's Club does the job for me 😆

I like this habit that you mention, but the life changing I did was to not associate happiness and insecurities with material possessions rather to develop what you have internally because its something that is hard to lose. And I believe in luxury within a prison is still a prison, debt and working too much in a job that you hated are some of the chains that binds you. Being frugal is the way to go.

Yay, I made it to extreme… Just yesterday sorted through my container of spinach… Kept the good for me and use the wilted leaves for the dogs!
    Clipper/shave my own hair… and for a woman that’s a huge savings!
I have recently thought of the idea of buying gifts on Facebook marketplace… The world has enough items in it already we don’t need to buy new.
