I hope this list of 18 common things you DON'T NEED will help you better evaluate the things you choose to buy.
Most of us have all of our basic needs covered, as well as a home and life filled with things that we love, value, and that bring us joy.
If we look beyond those things, I am sure we can find a lot of stuff that we simply don't need.

Except when a box of cocoa erupts in your backpack. All over your groceries.
Good post and quick and to the point. ❤Subscribed.
I’m glad your making different type of advice than others
Great tips, thank you
If you’re a fan of scented candles like me, I can recommend scented wax melts by yankee candle. In Germany they only cost around 3€ compared to the biggest candles which are around 25€+ and they last very long. Love them.
I hate the mugs, I hate washing them or putting them in the dish washer. I just want to have like 6 and be done with them. 6 is enough to have people over and no more
I’ve been keeping and reusing gift bags for years. My nan in law has done this all her life
I have been using my iPhone 11 Pro Max for years. Only just thinking about getting a new one and I’m looking at 15 plus now. I’d go iPhone 14 Plus or pro but eh I don’t think I want lightening as I have loads of usb c cables
Only time you need a thermal flask is when your camping or if your going on holiday to a place that’s roasting to cool your drinks
“Mind your own damn business.” Ted Waltz
also candles: in europe we have a lot without scents, so we lit them daily in the evening. helps to reduce the electricity bill too. :D
I only disagree with the smartphone. ofc it should not be the newest, but also not the oldest. you need important software updates for security sakes. especially when you are doing bank transfers or financing with your mobilephone (like my GF does....). so extra security due to new software updates is important.
I have a galaxy 10….never a problem…
My mum use paper planners, she can't use the one on her phone and she uses them up. I however use my phone and therefore never buy them. It's all about needs ❤
I bought the Apple Watch last month, then returned it 4 days later. It was not needed, and feels like I was wearing a rock on my wrist. 😢 An absolutely unneeded purchase. Wind up getting a battery for one of my wrist watches instead. 😊 Learned.
they are so big and clunky looking.
If you want your home to smell nice, keep it clean and open the windows! Fresh air, just for a few minutes a day, makes our homes smell good and is better for our health
Keep your lungs happier too
i wish i had know about thrift stores years ago. you can get items with the tags still on them! For a fraction of the cost! If only we could get rid of the stigma.. this would help so many people. I have picked up several Dri fit Under Armour polos for work. $40-50 new, I paid $2-5 each. I can't tell them from new and a few even had tags still on them! Our daughter just furnished half of her new house with goodwill furniture for less than a hundred bucks. You could outfit a whole kitchen with less than a hundred bucks. its crazy how cheap. Steer away from consumerism and buy what you need second hand. Save money and the planet at the same time.
Glass tupperware.. Buy a few quality pieces and that's all you need. Plastic will have to be bought over and over. Candles.. make your own. It's so easy. We cut wine bottles with cool labels and fill with wax and scent. Fraction of the price of store bought. And breakfast is what is still getting me.. have to figure a way to get off the sugar! Yep.. $2k more a year in my pocket. that would be nice. Take the discount for the store card.. the new limit will add to overall and boost your credit. Use the card once a year and pay off immediately.. win/win.
Why do we need candles anyway? It’s a fire hazard. We open the windows even in winter, then close them once we get too cold. Keep a gap open during the night.
Brilliant video and I’ve subbed
Me too
I get joy out of my paper planners, and find that my life is more streamlined with a physical one. It’s also a hobby for me, so I see it as a necessity, as i also track my health issues for doctors and such 😊
Great video, easy to implement ideas to simplify our lives. I love reusing gift bags and so do my friends and family. As a teacher I received countless mugs at Christmas. I used to make them into planters and place them around my classroom. New sub ❤
Here's your gift! Let me have my bag back. 😂
7 mugs in total (3 are on display and 4 because I'm lazy to wash one at a time 😂)
For a planner get a cheap notebook with ringband back. On a page just write out the days of a week with dates and plan your week. Since you're writing down dates yourself it doesn't matter if you skip a week or tear out a page and it's not as tedious as a bullet journal.
Is he Filipino, keeping gift bags to re use...... Only Filipinos do that....
No he must be Indian like me 😂😅
Everyone does that.
I am from Greenland….and I keep gift bags.
I'm from Seattle and I reuse them all the time!
I'm from TEXAS y'all and we reuse our bags
New subscriber here Great video Thanks
I avoid anything that has synthetic fragrance such as scented candles and air fresheners because they contain toxic ingredients such as phtalates, formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, benzene, just to name a few. These ingredients can cause a myriad of health issues. Sadly in America, companies don’t have to disclose all the ingredients that are contained in fragrance.
Nu subscriber ❤
Thanks for share so practical 🎉
I wish I found this channel sooner!
I always finish my planners. That’s more a personal preference. I do horrible with digital and prefer manually writing things.
I just discovered your channel today and I really like all your content and youre straight to the point!
Me too!!
My husband just bought a refurbished Samsung S20 for $150, and it's perfect. Meanwhile, I'm stuck paying hundreds and hundreds and hundreds for mine and my teens' phones. Never again will do this.
Great video!!!
brilliant start of the vid!!! I couldn´t believe, had to replay, brilliant, thank you!! All the points are so true!
I am very guilty of buying mugs. My kiddos enjoyed playing more with the box the toy that came in it. ❤
So much value in a single video, great dude 👌
Good list!
Bold clothing makes me happy! 🥲
Then rock that leopard shirt! 🙌 This is just my list of how I prioritize spending
Lunch boxes is the way to go!
Pack dat lunch
Keep up the good work dude, more people should be like you
Thanks man! What stuck out to you the most in the vid?
Sad and pathetic.
Nice Bear :)
all of this low key triggered in some way... most because duh, but not only. The facebook thing I guess is fine although I'm skeptical. These videos are better as minor counterintuitive tricks, like that guy who showered with his dirty clothes (although that's just wacko). "get a savings account and put money in it" or "cut your hair yourself" are kind of waste of my time advices. How about those youtube video making advices huh
like NOONE is watching this and saying "oh yeah I should do that, how come I didn' think of it" Go for a walk instead of to a game, pirate stuff, put your trousers first one leg, then the other
All good man, thanks for the feedback! Like most RUclips channels, this is just a person sharing and communicating ideas to bring together people who are passionate about the same thing, in this case: frugal living and bettering our financial behaviors. There’s a ton of niche channels sharing ideas that may seem like common sense to some, but a new concept for others. I have done a lot of financial coaching for people for free, and a lot of them don’t realize that there’s more room in their budget if they just get a little more creative and implement some ideas like this. So probably this list just wasn’t a fit for you, and that’s fine!
@@thefrugalrich if only you gave advice like you handle brutal criticism... Srsly though respect
no way u just have under 200 subscribers. these videos are GREAT! hope to see more from you!!
So kind of you! Yep this is only the 3rd video I think we’re gonna build a nice community here!
I'm glad I don't need a car when I can cycle to everywhere. That saves SO much every month
Respect to that, and you’re healthier than most of us 😆
The actual tip is always in the comments
Use fiod apps to save money in fast food.
True that, sometimes I just download the app on the spot to get whatever reward there is for new users
lol why is every single person visiting japan?
Food, society, culture, all on POINT!
I wish I had irl friends I could be/talk cheap with :)
I'm going to be launching a free community for us soon! So we can all talk and share ideas. But welcome to the frugal rich! Maybe irl meetups in the future 👀
I’ve just started number 11 the end of last month. It’s a one year long savings account and you can save between £25 and £250 per month and you get 7% interest. It may not be the best rate but it’s locked away and I’ll have £3000 that I put in plus £210 in interest if my maths is correct. I’m not the best saver so this is definitely going to be a challenge to put £250 in every month but it’s going out on payday and getting that money on the 27th of September next year will be brilliant. I’m planning to pay off any debts I have and then put the rest in an online bonus account which is also 7% interest and then starting one again
7% is amazing! Build up that starter emergency fund first, and then tackle that debt!
@@thefrugalrich it feels good to know I’m building security for my family!
7% is crazy high interest! Highest I've heard of last couple years is closer to 3.5~4.0% per year. Make sure you take potential fees into account aswell so as to not get too discouraged when it doesn't add up all the way to 210$ in the end. All the best!
@@vile8366 I’m in England and the account is definitely free. Only con is you can only save up to £250 per month
You cheap couple
I love it! I think I already do most of these but it's a good reminder of easy ways to save some money. Keep up the good work!
Love it! I promise you're not weird for living some of these frugal tips!
