My greatest expense is food as well. Not because I eat out and I don’t do food delivery. I buy high quality food, organic, clean ingredients, healthy oils, fresh, and limited processed. I figure, pay now or pay in medication and doctor visits later.
Unni, I don't know you personally but over the years I would like to believe you are like my older sister that I never had. Through this screen, you feel like home, like a warmth I always needed but never asked anyone bc you know growing up in an asian house being an older daughter.Your presence, your words, your energy, they feel like my older sister ( if I had one) always calming me down, like a gentle hand resting on my back telling, " am here for you'', while patting my head gently in a dark room but your presence shining bright like a candle. You remind me to slow down, to breathe, be in your own pace. It's so rare to find someone who can reach across a screen & make the crazy world feel softer, but you do, unni. I love you so much from all my heart, I thank god for keeping you healthy, protected bc you are someone I look upto, I aspire to be. I hope & pray to meet you one day unni. Loads of love.
My wife and I went through a period when we wanted to get our food spending under control. We decided to make a X amount cash withdraw at the beginning of each month. This was our eating out cash. For lunch or dinner. That way we kept the spending at or below the same level each month. Just need to figure out how much you want to spend either by year or month eating out (ordering food from takeout) and stick to it. Physically going to a bank to get extra cash (beyond your monthly amount) makes it a conscious effort to cheat. Hence, it becomes easy not to make an unconscious mistake or an impulse lapse, which comes with things like credit cards, PayPal, etc...This is a rather drastic approach, especially in this day and age when cash is not used as much, but it does give you a very clear way to manage one part of your discretionary finances.
I did a three day no buy, it seemed more feasible than a30 day for me. And i can say it did make a difference. It was hard. But i didn't want to spend like before. It was a reset. Even afterwards, I think about my purchases, making better choices. I love your videos keep them coming.
Portuguese people like to socialize around food and right now food is very expensive, even when we eat at home in Portugal. Less variety (in small groceries) but more quality. I really love the way you plan your life (month by month). ❤
Sophie I Just Wanted to say that I really really love all your recent Videos so so much and your Videos are too too peaceful to watch and thank you so so much for motivating me and I've been waiting for this video for so long🥹♥️💫
It’s so easy to lose count of what we spend and coffees, lunches and dinners out add up quickly. Having dinner out with friends on a Saturday night has become the highlight of my week. When I was a child having meals out was more of a treat and not done as often. Now it’s the norm to eat out maybe several times a week or at least do take out or delivery. It really adds up if you’re trying to keep to a budget. Now at 61 my husband and I are easily able to have dinners out but it definitely can be a struggle when you’re young. I just bought Atomic Habits to try and get back some healthier habits.🥰😊😅
My temptation to overspend is on art supplies and browsing in a book store. I have become more aware and now shop for used books and only buy art supplies when I run out of paint or something I need. Food is also an issue but I try to buy out only once a week as a treat and focus on quality ingredients to cook at home. I get frustrated at times because as cost keeps increasing, I can't see any difference in saving $$
Thank you for the film ❤️ I love your ideas about candlelit meals at home 😍 a little detail can change everything! ❤️ A discord group would be great! 😍❤️
Hello, Sophie! I am recently back to listening to your videos all day long to reprogram my mind. Biggest expence for our household is food and daycare for our child. But there would always be a "biggest expence", isnt it? May as well be something worthwhile. Cheers!
Hi Sophie I have been watching your channel from the start and have learned so much, love watching your journey into minimalism, mindful shopping every thing really and of course your dogs ❤ so sweet But your cooking looks so delicious is there any plans to maybe show some of your cooking maybe something you could think about x best wishes from 🇬🇧 uk x x
Hello, I love your videos, they inspire me to appreciate the things I have around me. I'm afraid to cook, and I wanted to ask if you have any advice for simple and easy cooking that can be done. I'm a college student, and I tend to live off instant ramen and takeout a lot, so if you have any easy, quick, and simple recipes, please make a video about them. Thank you 🤎
those that keep spending feels a lacking in their own contentment. I have clothing that fits in one storage box, no more. and I love my clothes. I own two cars Honda accord, genesis g80 that last more than 20 years old and still going. I retired early from USA and pay 75% less in cost of living expenses by living in Taipei and not Los Angeles. My money goes a long way, and I am not missing anything by not living in Manhattan Beach, when I get all of that in Taiwan.
Your posts feel like meditation. Thank you for this soul soothing post. I speak Portuguese from growing up in Brazil and I am thinking of retiring in Portugal. As an Asian, I do worry at times about the local reception of foreigners. What is your impression of Portugal in this regard?
Yes, I would love to join a Discord! You're so inspiring! What dish were you cooking? It looked like braised cucumbers over some sort of sauce... intriguing... ❤
Thank you for the helpful tips! My husband and I definitely spend the majority of our money on food. I really want to find healthy simple recipes to make at home you think you can share ideas?
That was inspiring, thank you! I am really striving to low buy this year. By the way, já está falando português? Wishing you happiness and health always ❤😊
I have question I want to see others opinion. How much is too much? My salary is good however, I don't meet the end. But I pay for essentials only maybe once or twice a month eat out. No takeout no impulsive shopping. What is the mistake in my case?
I used to spend a lot of money on plants but last year I did a low buy challenge and only allowed myself to buy two plants for the entire year. By December I had purchased three but I still felt like it was very successful. As for food, I don't eat out and I have several go to recipes that I love to make. Although, I do spend an exorbitant amount of money on super foods.
The person who said gym is lying and is trying to flex lol . Gym memberships are all pretty cheap but it’s the food and protein afterwards is what can be expensive maybe that’s what he meant

Same here.

I agree! It's so easy to get caught up in the "norm" of going out. It's helpful to re-evaluate what's really important to you. Thank you ❤️

Girl, if COVID thought me anything, it would be to live your best life NOW. This is from a health care worker.
I was recommended this and chose by accident, and see my beautiful Lisboa :D
May i ask what you do for a living? Lisbon is a pretty expensive city and probably the most expensive of Portugal.
