This song just gets better and better with each listen... As does the Cyr album. It just takes time for you to get your head around the beauty that Billy creates in both the music and lyrics. Add another Pumpkins album to the binge list. Much love.

Billy is a true artist. It’s amazing that after all these years he still manages to come up with new, creative, and unique music that doesn’t sound at all like the music of his past. He’s always treading on new territory and he just doesn’t give a shit what the critics say. That’s why he’s awesome.

This is the first time in a long time that I've enjoyed a new Smashing Pumpkins album. Though, I would say it could do with a bit of a trim. Didn't need to be a double album. Some songs feel like repeated ideas.
Still, plenty of good songs.
I hope you've listened to Oceania. Although, that was a long time ago.

@@chronic_johnson_a.r.a.b Maybe give it another try. I wasn't a fan of their recent work either, but I loved Oceania. The drumming, which has been lacking lately, was fantastic.

SP trying to be The Cure
I also got that vibe... sounds very cureish... the thing is no one comes close to Robert Smith's universe. Smith and the band have created such an unique sound pallette... from simple pop Songs like boys dont cry or friday im in love to dark oppressive sound scapes like pornography (the whole lp) or melancholic nostálgic épic songs like desintegration (the whole LP also). Its such an unique band that its hard to be in their level And their sound is so particular its hard to not compare a song when it's vibe is so cureish

So digital... haven't heard anything that really hits me. I'm trying and listening to it all, but not feeling like I'm connecting to anything yet. Gonna have to listen to it all over again and again to hopefully feel it. I have the same problem with all music. It takes me a few times of listening to get down. I must be slow 😔

I kinda enjoyed Cyr and Colour of Love. But as the other songs were being released, I felt they were pretty much the same. It's like if they took 'The Beginning is the End...' and 'Eye' and made a whole album with that vibe. It doesn't feel like a 'band album' at all. Why bringing James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlain back and make a synth-pop album? I believe the more electronic ones would work perfectly among other kinds of songs.... If you take the best bits of this one and mix with the best ones from 'Shiny and Oh So Bright' we could have had a more interesting work.
Great review. I feel the same. This could have been one better single album than a stretched out double album. Billy forgot the recipe of how to make a great double album like MCIS but tried anyways....that never works.
@@justinsane3909 Yeah.... But I have huge respect for Billy. He is always pushing things forward, avoiding sounding always the same.
@@marcioguariba Nobody is disputing his diversity from album to album, but for a double CD, the overwhelming issue is the tone of this album sounding the same through most of it. Compare the crazy mash of songs on MCIS, and it falls short of what many of us were expecting. I think an awesome single CD could have been produced with this material. As I am writing this, CYR CD was has been confirmed as shipped from Amazon, love it, lol.

As soon as Billy sings it becomes hard to keep listening. Voice just not working anymore nor the lyrics and poor melodies. Production not good either.
