The Australian police were common for beating confessions out of people. Two men were convicted for killing their partners, then years later it was found to be a serial killer called Cook. Cook was hanged in the 60s.
I had a boss who had a very acrid, ammonia-like smell when he sweated. On other occasions he told me he had gout, which is caused by a buildup of uric acid in the blood. This is what I suspected made his sweat so pungent. I wonder if Mr. Stinky also had gout?
@@MeredithBell-v3f yes,I agree with you...They continue to look at the wrong person's while the murders are roaming the streets free to do more killings on innocent civilians..Buck up Australia!!!
@@TheTrueCrimeChannel So you tell me what more the Police could have done? I am sick of you bashing the Police! Have you forgotten that is was one of them who spotted the fingerprints???This is well befor DNA and computers.
Girlfriend two-timing him , than found dead , than he was kicked and knocked around by po-lice , than mistreated by community ... if it wasn't for the bad luck , he wouldn't have no luck at all
We studied the Ronald Ryan case, our conclusion was he could not of shot the prison guard due to the bullets downward trajectory. The case had no ballistics, no scientific analysis, missing evidence, unsigned confessions, etc. It's more probable a watchtower guard shot his fellow guard during the escape and an innocent man hung for the sake of political gain.
Still amazing that one detective remembered & recognised the fingerprints he was shown 6 months earlier. Then retrieved the paper files which cracked the case without any computer assistance!
I worked in Donvale for several years. Knowing this is a little creepy. Even creepier, my late mother telling me a story of the era in nearby Park Orchards. Before I was born when my family lived there, my mum was walking the pram down the street when this car pulled over, and a man got out. My mum, a well to do person, simply shouted 'f#*k off!' And he did. There was talk of a violent rapist in the area early on. To this day I'm convinced it was him, and you would rarely hear my mother use such language in the years to follow. I suppose she saved it up for the moments that mattered most.
Talking to my Dad, such criminals in the 50s and 60s were almost protected. That is, to avoid causing massive community alarm, the talk of serial rapists and killers was kept under wraps. This also included community leaders like parish priests (not the priests as criminals, even though several were, they were protectors of the fellow criminals). For me, this explains the apparent explosion of serial killers and the like in the late 70s and early 80s, especially in places like America. The fact of the matter being, they were always there, regardless of the decade.
@@TheTrueCrimeChannel it kind of makes sense to me anyway. To elaborate, a Catholic priest in any suburb of Melbourne was considered a pretty high up authority, and they would be communicating with police. Even in cahoots.

@TheTrueCrimeChannel as safe as anywhere I guess I could go out and meet friend's at Shopping Town (Westfield Doncaster)...my parent's were very strict I didn't really have a social life at night's back then...the move to Shepparton was for my husband's job and while there was crime around it didn't effect us (again though we didn't go out much at night) and due to my upbringing I was fairly strict with my girl's 🤷♀️

The family should sue the police department and the policemen individually for the brutal treatment that they gave to an innocent man

Well said, and how many other innocent people have suffered because of the police of that time. Are they ever held accountable?
I think they have a Victim of Crime Support network which handles these types of things and gives compensation type payouts for victims of crime.
Mr. Stinky is such an innocuous name for a psychopath. I must have missed it when the siurce of his odor was exposed.
Such a horrific nickname!
No.. I don’t think it was told why he stunk, except where he worked maybe? Maybe he had a different job in Melbourne where he was dubbed.
He was a farm worker, according to news he smelled of milk, manure and chemicals, I think he was on a dairy farm

I agree and if not for this blame game Ian could well be alive and well with perhaps a wife, children and grand children. So very sad :(
The police were discussing and disgraceful behaviour no worse than the criminals and should be charged and sued, plain low lives
