      i don't usually listen to this type of music (i'm born in sydney), i'm a r&b music fan but i remember hearing this song on the radio and during rugby league games when i used to live around penrith and got to say this song's just awesome and lights up the place, the lead singer michael hutchence espec is a straight up rock star... and the guitar bass just sticks with you and lights things up

    The INXS catalogue is quite a journey, they were absolute masters at evolving their sound while being unmistakably themselves. From Just Keep Walking right through to Elegantly Wasted they kept changing it up and making it work.
    Rock & Roll Hall of Fame won't touch them, and is dead to me until they do.

    Written by Harry Vanda and George Young. Their 1960's band "The Easy Beats" were awesome. After the Easy Beats split, Vanda and Young continued to collaborate in the duo Flash and the Pan, as well as produced writing songs for many Aussies including JPY and Cheetah. They wrote Evie, which former band mate had a huge hit with here in Oz, and Friday on my Mind, covered by the late, great Gary Moore. Yes, the covers sound better because of improved recording techniques and new approaches to playing guitars, but they are still well crafted songs.

  • @sean---the-other-one
    @sean---the-other-one 2 года назад +1

    The pedigrees here are deep. This was originally written by Harry Vanda and George Young from The Easybeats. George had two brothers called Malcolm and Angus who were the guitar powerhouses of AC-DC. Jimmy Barnes is Australian rock royalty from Cold Chisel as well as his own solo career, and of course INXS was a great band for many years before they decided to water themselves down for commercial success. They also were occasionally the backbone of other acts and shows such as Richard Clapton.

    You said both of them could sing! Pretty much had to be able to sing to make it in OZ back in the day. All bands had to play the pub scene day in, day out, week in, week out, travelling town to town and city to city to make a living, this is why they can sing and why the bands are so tight when performing live (think AC/DC It’s a long way to the top).
    I went to a ZZ Top concert in ‘86/87, Rose Tattoo and The Angels were supporting acts, put it this way, ZZ Top should have been their support act!

    Ah Hah! You're liking and getting into our great Australian musical talent ! Check out "The Teskey Brothers- Hold Me" - live at the Forum in Melbourne. They're a fabulous bluesy- soul group with Josh Teskey as the gravelly-voiced front man. Also Vanessa Amorosi singing, "Have A Look". Find the live performance where she shows her incredible raunchy style with a vocal range over a number of octaves. She's probably one of the best female singers in the world. Also she performed, "Heroes Live Forever," at the Sydney 2000 Olympics where she sang a note for a l-o-n-g time. You'll be blown away by the two .And... "When Something Is Wrong With My Baby," Live on "Hey Hey It's Saturday TV Show", where Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham together let it rip. Awesome!

    Jon Farriss, in his day was the best drummer going around! Rob Hirst of Midnight Oil is my all time fav, being the song writer as well. The piano player is Andew Farriss. No Andrew, no INXS. He wrote the songs.

    Jimmy has spent decades doing everything 'wrong' for his voice (drinking, smoking, forcing his vocal chords etc) and he still sounds like this

    Greatest party song ever! But I've got to admit, I've often used it (at full volume) to kickstart myself to get my housework done!
    Would love to see you react to "Home" by Marc Broussard. Great Southern vibe & groove. Another song that makes you move.
    Btw, I'm a new subscriber.
    Stevie Ray Vaughan brought me to you, your personalities have kept me here. Looking forward to more SRV!
    Much love from Kentucky.💙☮🌿

    The "little" bloke with the mullet is none other than Jimmy Barnes, (one of two lead singers - the other lead being Ian Moss) for Cold Chisel. If that doesn't give you a path for a f*** load of reacts then you ain't aware of the whole southern hemisphere rock scene. It'd be like ignoring AC/DC, or in Europe Rammstein or pretending in the US Pearl Jam or The Eagles didn't exist.
    Flame Trees, You got nothin' I want, Khe Sanh, When the war is over etc etc
    The bigger (taller I reckon Jimmy could punch the sh** out of him) bloke is Michael Hutchence, sadly deceased, former partner of the Singing Budgie and pop icon Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Nah Kylie Minogue.
