I think the speed Is okay, they just need a bit more power and torque.
Maybe you could install better external antennas on the cars.
And upgrading the motors. That could make another good video: "Fixing Nintendo's Mario Cart Home Circuit" (like watercooling the macbook pro to fix apple's cooling)

@@mrmedium7984 Yup. I had a New Bright Scorpion that would run more than 25% more voltage from the factory. I didn't even use it every day, but it burned itself out within a month. (I got one of the first models with a 12.7v battery. They then dropped it down to 10.8 and then 9.6.)

that course has like every single bad thing you could have....
- slopes
- reflecting floor, with coloured lights
- hard narrow turns
- obstacles where you can get stuck
- wrinkles on the floor (tape, cardboard)
All you are missing is a rug
Forgot tons of Wireless devices to cause interference issues and other obstacles that could block wifi.
Having slopes adds challenge to track design but can make it more interesting. Hard narrow turns don’t really add much relative to the problems they cause

All this is really making me recognize how crucial of a role Lakitu plays in Mario Kart games, even though he often goes underappreciated.
Well technically you can be real life lakitu.If car gets stuck you can physically grab and move it just like lakitu would.

@@puar6124 this was only response that got a chuckle from me .... If you were good at the game and played someone of the same skill level you could go a super long time before you got killed or killed the other player. By that time you were exhausted.
Play Screencheat. You have to use other people's screens to find them. It goes against every instinct if you grew up in the era of Goldeneye/Perfect Dark/Halo

Personally, I think they should have added some NPCs to the race. As in, put in some slow walking Hamsters in there Hahaha.
You'd need to have a better outlined race track though. An interesting addition could be to put some food (lettuce, nuts, crickets, meat) on the cars to entice the NPCs, I mean the animals. Or even think of adding regular RC cars too.
I wouldn't quite recommend putting in pet Rats or Mice, as Hamsters seem like the better fit. If you want even slower racers or some roadblocks, you could have toads or tortoises, which could be interesting. Or to bump the difficulty level to crazy, have some Ferrets in there. Just don't involve your cats or dogs, as they'll likely step all over the karts and racetrack... or worse destroy the karts with their paws, teeth, and saliva.

After seeing how well it functions: Ok, that's why this wasn't really a thing.
I thought only one car would be needed that records the track and creates a virtual one that you import to your console. Like 3D-Scanning the track etc.
Maybe it comes with an update... and price increase :)
well you gotta start somewhere. i expect this to be much more optimized in the future, if they (hopefully) continue develpoment for this.
Can be made way better if more customisations are given on controlling the wifi options

As a child, when I used to have friends, I always wanted this and dreamt of doing a RC car race with my friends that had a point system and you can see what the car is seeing on a screen. Just a note to new players wondering about the cart design for this game. The carts have a built-in governor Which prevents them from going max speed ( very similar to what go carts have in most amusement parks,) so when you’re doing the test lap before the race starts the cart will not be traveling at full speed and thus might not be able to make it up certain ramps or inclines. This is so that power ups will have an actual effect when used in game. So for example, let's say you’re racing at full speed and you use a mushroom 🍄. The car will then begin to accelerate much faster in real life because the governor is disabled temporarily. The reason this is useful knowledge is that this will allow you to make courses with bigger ramps if Place strategically where speed boost can be applied.

It's a terrific idea just a little ahead of the technology. The CORRECT version of MKL would allow ramps, loops, and multiple levels. There would be sufficient radio reception over a yuge course. You know, there are walkie-talkies that can go 16 miles. If the stuff costs this much, they can afford to provide a nice tower (like a floor-lamp form factor) that reaches everything and it doesn't have to be wifi. Can be something that works. And the carts could have a modicum of power! Thank you. Love the vid!

Mario Kart DS has a tank you can drive. I always used it with Dry Bones. Would have totally loved that.

That was the most fun and frustrating game I've ever watched played. Definitely some of the things are in beta vs ready for prime time use. I'm glad you set this up to see what I'm in for sometime in the future when they work out all the bugs to that.
The big problem is that, ironically, the carts are large and are obviously not using Mario Kart physics, and reality can be rather annoying.
I'm really sad Sarah's feed was off . She's the one we see less of and was excited to have her add some of her charm.

That's really cool! I really like the idea, however making your own track to that complexity would take a looooong time. Not to mention the time it took you guys to set up equipment and trouble shoot to get to the actual playing stage. Kudos guys.

From what I gathered, this is great. It is perfect for AR. I just wish the karts were a little more powerful to stop people getting stuck.
At a previous job, when Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was released we had some 8 player local multiplayer matches with 8 switches. That is technically more expensive than this setup, but it was an impromptu race during one lunch simply because we had 8 people who bought the game for themselves.
The same could be done for this game: all you need is 4 people who bought this kit.
Yeah, it's really scammy to include periferals in the pricing. That's like saying minecraft is $25k because you had to build 8 pcs and a server to play the game

Nintendo switch can get 5GHz and you can change some other settings like 1500 mtu and dns server
Mario Kart Home Circuit uses a hotspot type private WiFi connection to the karts, they’re not connected over the same WiFi that the switch would connect to for the internet.
These individual WiFi connections are all proprietary anyway so they can’t really be modified and who knows what frequency they’re using, 2.4 or 5

I think your last point about RF interference on race day was probably it. Testing with one or two people in the room is different than having four racers, two camera operators, track helpers etc in the room, all with their personal cell phones, smartwatches, etc all actively communicating.

The controllers are wireless, so thats 8 in total (because each side of the controller counts as one), now add the 4 carts to it, AND the 4 switches, and you have a network admin's nightmare.

I used to deal with some D-Fi 2.4 GHz wireless DMX boxes which went from opposite corners of the venue to control the stage lighting. We were forced to use powerline adapters because these boxes blanketed the entire room with 2.4 GHz interference and rendered the WiFi useless!

one thing to remember about wifi: its shared TIME between everything. You had 4 switches, 4 cars, PLUS, you had probably 12 phones, plus whatever else was vying for time on the wifi. Wiring the switches and reducing the noise in the wifi(IE, the amount of physical devices trying to use it) would have massively improved video quality for everyone.
