Jason Meade Murder Trial Day 5: Meade takes the stand
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 5 фев 2024
- Former Franklin County Sheriff's deputy Jason Meade was called to the stand Tuesday after five days of testimony from key witnesses.
UPDATES: www.10tv.com/article/news/cri...
When Meade took the stand, he was asked about his duties as a deputy and what equipment, including firearms, he used in his 17 years with the sheriff's office. Meade, who was also a deputized member of the US Marshals office, was asked about operations he helped carry out as soon as he took the stand.
When asked about the day of the shooting, Meade said he aired over his radio that someone drove by and waved a gun at him. Meade said he made a U-turn and pursued the suspect's vehicle because he "didn't know what his intentions were at the time."
He then recounted in detail what he recalled happening the day of the shooting. Full recap of Meade's testimony in the trial here.
Prosecutors cross-examined Meade's testimony and asked if he was sure he saw Goodson waving his gun and also questioned whether he used his sirens or lights when pursuing him.

The first thought is he ruined his boys birthday?!? Not that all of these children have witnessed a murder of their loved one, or I just killed a young man??? That would impact me big time as a juror
Right?! I just commented the same thing.. I actually had to go back ten seconds and listen again just to make sure I heard what I heard.. yikes
That’s a normal reaction for someone was looking forward to get off work to attend a birthday, then something bad happened to you, I.E. being threatened with a gun. Ruined the rest of his families plans for the rest of evening, that’s actually quite a normal response but ofc people want to try and inflate every answer he gives

Good grief. Not true. If he tore his panty hose yes, but not a murder. Your statement would make him a sociopath
This lying cop deserves an Oscar.
He literally LOOKS paranoid and erratic in court.
I know for a fact this man behaved irrationally. His body language SCREAMS lack of rationality.
Dirt Nap
His cockiness is despicable! He’s reckless and hope he spends many years behind bars.
This is another sad case of cops shooting first and asking questions later 😡
Well, so far with that mistrial he is not going to spend any time behind bars.😌

"It was his boy's birthday. I just ruined his birthday". That's what he thought after killing this young man. Sigh... get this liar off the stand
He couldn't make himself come to tears. .
I'll never understand how it is a threat when someone's back is to you. Smh
This is the behavior of a sociopath. Zero remorse or emotion over taking the life of an innocent young man.
My husband was almost shot bcuz the cop thought he had a gun in the car but it was my 7yr old son’s wallet nxt to a screwdriver.. we were so scared and confused .. slow down, not everyone is a thug or killer
These people disgust me so bad they think they can do anything in this world to people and get away with it
If you are talking about Goodson, I agree with you 100%
Yes you should listen and comply to the police when they are pursuing you.
Even if u are 100% doing the right thing, fight it in court not in the streets.
If you run from the police with a gun in hand and refuse to comply you are putting your life in danger.
End of story.
At what point are these idiots gonna realize you aren't gonna win fleeing the cops.
Same goes for blm and the supporters

From Meade's own Testimony, He never told other officers that the gun was Pointed at him. He only said some guy was WAVING A GUN. Meade only said the gun was pointed at him AFTER shooting Goodson Jr.. The Prosecutor needs to ask other officer on the stand, did Meade ever mention a gun being POINTED at him? Or did Meade radioed someone only Waving a weapon?
I dont think Casey realized the officer was pursuing him. He locked his door manually. Its not adding up. If he was eluding the cop he would have just jumped out the car and ran up to his house
And probably left the sandwhiches
Omg I didn't see that he locked his door with the key 😢
I don’t recall anyone stating the car was ever locked. Other than prosecution in opening statements and testimony of how to lock it. No one from the scene, as of this comment has specifically said it was.
@@bluejaybison82 I was wondering that too but if the defense isn’t arguing against it than i assume they are in agreement about it.
@@rustyshackelford7118I thought that too. But it’s been the topic of discussion but not to be verified by witness statements.
Why is the cop smirking, smiling, and laughing in front of the victim's family? Disturbing.
Sociopath right there. Shows no emotion or remorse
Wow, he sits there, smiles and laughs, jokes a bit as though as if he's at a job interview. He has ZERO remorse for taking that young mans LIFE. 😮😢

Casey was not a man he was a punk !
This Judge is so slanted toward this officer it is sickening..
Meade feels ABSOLUTELY NO REMORSE OR SYMPATHY AT ALL for Casey Goodson jr. or his family. NONE WHATSOEVER. MEADE MIND IS SO SO FAR FROM CARING AT ALL FOR WHAT HE DID.
HEATLESS❤ AS HELL 👹
Exactly my feelings
Why do cops get to make their statements 3 weeks after the incident? He messed up when he said the guy stopped when he didn’t. No way the guy made that left turn, tracked the gun at the on coming car, pumped the gun several times and aimed it at the cop in that time frame. And how would the cop see all that?
If he didn’t, why would the cop chase him down and shot him. I don’t see why he would do this without a cause. All of the actions done with gun are possible as he only needs one hand to drive
@funatish7891 he was most likely waving his hand. Singing a song he just changed to.. the cop was just on go looking for some trouble.. the guy they came to arrest. He didn't get the guy. The team already had left.. and he is still rolling around looking for the guy..
@@funatish7891 he did not hear him he had HEADPHONES in his ears! This cop murdered him. Keep y’all comments to y’all selfs tf. And even if he did hear him that means shoot him 6 times ? That’s murder and Jason Meade needs to go under hell.
@@funatish7891 Casey just left the dentist. I'm sure he had to put his gun in the glove box. When he got close to home, he took it out to put back into his holster. That's when the cop saw it. Like so many other cops, a black man with a gun automatically signaled bad guy to him. I don't for one minute believe he ever pointed his gun at the cop. That's just something they say to justify the shooting. This guy had a job and no criminal record. No reason to run from the cops. If the bag was in one hand and the gun was in the other, where was he holding his keys????? In his teeth????
@@funatish7891 he thought he was someone he was looking for on the same street, no one with ccw would act in such away when they are also trained to know the laws of carrying a firearm, why would he lock his car doors if he knew he was being chased and he knowing saw this officer....the door for his car had to be Locke with the actual key and no key fob...what criminal in the middle of a chase would lock his door manually and grab the sandwiches open the door to his him and shot in the back 🤔
GREAT QUESTIONING
I was a friend of Casey's & I'm most certain that he didn't point his gun at anyone. I wasn't there, but knowing what I know about him (especially after learning about the airpods), I believe that he was vibing to his rap music. He was an intelligent and respectful young man with goals and ambitions, not some would-be criminal on the run from the police. Now, did that mean he was perfect? No, not at all. He's made mistakes, and he was young and did dumb things at times, in spite of his intelligence. I believe this was one of those things, getting caught up in his music & pumping a gun in the car. This is when the officer must of taken notice of him and begun his pursuit. I don't believe for one second that he EVER took aim at anyone. The officer is either mistaken, exaggerating, or just simply lying to reinforce his side of the story. Casey never threatened to hurt anyone (at least not to my knowledge) with a gun. He had a job and was level headed and he had no reason to all of a sudden, break bad. I can also tell you that he didn't turn halfway through the door of their house, to take aim at the officer. Again, he wasn't stupid. He would of known the guy would of had a gun drawn on him, why turn around to take aim when you're already out posistioned?? Besides, what reason would he have had to do so? He wasn't a wanted criminal cornered with nothing to lose, making his last stand. He loved his family & wouldn't of done anything to endanger them or himself. I wholeheartedly believe he didn't hear the guy giving commands behind him because he had his airpods in & had them turned up really loud (which he was known to do with airpods and car stereos). This officer is twisting the story to his benefit, and it's sad because one man lost his life over a misinterpretation, while the other will likely get away with it.
I'm sorry for your Loss. Prayers & Thoughts For Family & Friends. ❤️
@narzmaree9051 thank you :)
I have to agree. Also I want to add he constantly posted about the protest that were happening downtown and how things were messed. So he has awareness of what the police be on. Why would he willingly and knowingly point a gun at a cop knowing they are killing black men? Or knowing his entire family is on the other side of the door. Also the way the house is set up if he was pointing a gun behind himself with the screen door to his back (which is difficult) there's a fence and gate there the aim would be so wild there would be no reason to do that. It just sounds like this man trying to cover his tracks and make it make sense which it dont.
@@simstress8790 the officer was in a unmarked vehicle I’m sure Casey didn’t know that was a cop inside . Probably wasn’t even paying much attention to Meades car and just driving and listening to music
@@beautifulandblessedtv exactly. And did the neighbor say she saw him running to the house because that's something no one mentioned.
Did this man really just say his first thought about what he had just done, was that it's his boy's birthday and he just ruined it??! 😮😮
*Holy Moly* that is not a good impression to put in the juror's heads... That's insane that he just said that out loud. I can only imagine the reaction, being one of the victim's family members sitting in that court room and hearing that.. like his life holds zero value. Infuriating.
I don't like the cops tone vs a dead person who can't tell their side of the story

Absolutely! He ruined the entire case with his weak cross.
You dont touch anything on the scene.. but he says he moved the body?
Conveniently away from the gun he claimed was directly below his right arm. As if you could know that before moving the body. And no camera on, ridiculous.

@@wenb9270 the “still dangerous” argument never made sense to me. That would be like if a hunter kills a bear then handcuffs it in case its still alive.
This cop had no reason to pursue this guy and he could have used back up. This guy had a right to have a gun in his car and even in his hand taking his subway to house. In the cat maybe the victim was just move his hand some. No proof he was intentionally pointing it at this cop. This victim also didn't hear cop saying anything had ear pods listening to music. Seems happy to be there!
As I watch this further I feel sick. This kid picks up sandwiches then drives home where he knows at least 3 babies are in the house and decides to drive with his gun out, points it at this lying sake of crap and then goes home. Home where he gets out of his car, manually locks the door to the car while pointing a gun at this truck and decides yeah I’m gonna point this gun but keep hold of my sandwiches?!?! The more I watch the sicker I feel…
Because you know it’s bs and this is what they do
Not really if you watch the whole thing
First of all, Goodson was no kid. He was 23 years old, so quit trying to make him into some kind of innocent child. Second, he was carrying a weapon on his person and apparently was brandishing it at some point which got the attention of Deputy Meade. Deputy Meade did his legal duty to investigate this and attempted to stop Goodson who ignored him and tried to get into the house before Deputy Meade could stop him. When they turned his body over, the weapon was found underneath Goodson's chest. The judge declared a Mistrial so that means that the jury could not decide one way or another to convict him. In the process three jurors where kicked off the panel. If we could find out why, we would have a window into the though processes of some of them. For all we know some of them could have been clandestine BLM operatives as we saw with Brandon Mitchell, the juror who lied about having any connection with BLM and was allowed to convict Chauvin in the overdose death of George Floyd.
In response…. Was there an actual mistrial? You clearly have an opinion and that is what it all is. An opinion. We are all welcome to have one. We were not there. For me his face says it all. He rethinks the moment every second. That is his prison. You bring up Floyd. I’d say unspeakable but again you have your opinion. In this day and age, we all have to be able to speak our truth. Or we would all go insane a little…. So I honor your opinion. That doesn’t mean I have to agree.
WTF???? You cut off the testimony before itbwas over!!!
If cameras are allowed in the courtroom for national viewing they need to make sure they have good audio.
I served with this man in Lima company, he was an outstanding marine, and he was real religious even back then 20 years ago. He’s been through severe combat in his military service and has a lot of experience in weaponry and combat situations in urban environment , and he was a super nice person, I am not suprised at all to hear he’s a pastor. I know this man, I served with him, and if he said the guy pulled a gun on him then I believe him. There is one thing Meade is not, and that’s a liar, he’s probably the most honest man I have ever known.
Don’t be so quick to say he is not a liar.
Omg a pastor who can murder? That's defies reason. Wrap your mind around that
Ego defies logic
@@Vickielynnrenegar If you look at documentaries, there have been several murderers that were in fact pastors. Here are a few names: Rev. Michael Tabb, Rev. Michael Tabb, Pastor Tracy Burleson, Pastor Edmund Lopes, Francis Hermann the list goes on. Even the BTK killer was a church deacon.
A better prosecutor could’ve tripped this guy up with his story for sure.
A couple times I thought he was going to but it just fizzled out, like when he started to point out if Casey had a bag in his hand and unlocking a door with keys, how was he also holding a gun and pointing it behind him.
Again when Casey apparently pointed a gun at him in traffic, why the hell wouldn’t he pursue immediately with lights and sirens? Seems like a strange response to something like that, from a police officer.

He should found guilty solely for lacking a body cam.
Why? Because even if he knew he committed a reckless murder - he wouldn't admit to it.
In fact, I doubt there's an example of any paranoid cop actually admitting to a murder they know they committed.
They have far too much to lose to be honest; and it's easier to make you a shameful story on the victim rather than admitting you're a murderer.

it's suspicious that Meade never mention to not one of his backup officers when he was radio them that the gun was Pointed at him, Meade was only saying Goodson Jr had a gun or waving a gun. Meade never specifically said the gun was Pointed at him to anyone, until later after he had shot and killed Goodson Jr.. Meade call in a man with a gun & waving it. Meade never called in what he would have absolutely stated, and that is Goodson Jr. pointed the gun at him. That's something he would have been stressing to the Team. But Meade never did until when he had to say it because now Meade had to Justify. Listen Closely and you will agree. Meade was only was pursuing Goodson Jr. Only because he seen Goodson Jr. driving by with a gun in his hand. There was never any pointing the gun a Meade until later when he had to Justify shooting and killing Goodson Jr. These are the Facts. But you can believe whatever you wanna believe. Smdh.

Meade wanted to make sure Casey Goodson Jr. died, so Casey Goodson Jr. would never be able to Testify about what exactly happen. It would be over for Meade. So Meade 👹 made sure he stalled The Medics pretending that he was more concerned about The Medics Safety. When he should have known that time is everything when it comes to someone being shoot six times. The Medics came rushing in to save the victim, but Meade made them Stop and made The Medics wait 30 mins before allowing them to treat Casey Goodson Jr. Which could have possibly save Casey Goodson Jr. Meade The Devil 👹 knew exactly what he had to do to prevent himself from being held accountable, just like a lot of officers and other Evil Doers.
