I'm not sure that you're a native or not. But I literally heard it in the movie, teenagers in high school theme, where a girl wished to her friend "break a leg" for her exam. The word derived from opera culture but it's not limited for using only in performance/acting situations.

How do you find these clips? Do you search the corpus first and then find the clips in the episodes that pop up in the corpus? or is there a special search engine going through videos and a phrase in different tv series (something like youglish but for tv series)?
