Just don't confuse them for normal nails like I did. Cost me my favorite hammer. It was my grandfather's hammer. It had 3 new heads and 2 new handles. Boy I miss that hammer. Now I just have to regrow my 2 missing fingers. 🤣
There's a whole heap of that nowadays. The Mission Impossible movies have lots of practical stunts, as did Mad Max: Fury Road (the CGI was the eye-catching mountains, not the action).

Practical stunts are even more expensive to do well though. Which is one reason why they have nearly disappeared from TV. The only TV series I can think that still does practical car stunts is the German series Alarm für Cobra 11 .

The birth of the 'build montage'. Everytime they get caught they find themselves in a workshop with a bunch of tools and they build a technical. Loved the A-team!
We used to watch the A-Team literally falling about laughing. The story lines are so out of this world. How they didn't burst out laughing as they spoke their lines is one of the greatest mysteries ever.

WOW... as i've watched a few of these old vids. i realised that these guys were the original McGuyvers. think about it. almost every episode is them traveling somewhere else to help folks. and usually ends with them building up some sort of equipment, with whats available, to defeat the bad guys.

It helps to reduce visibility in order to aim and shoot at them. It increases the likelihood of missing, so it is effective.
If you look carefully the front plate on the windshield is made of cardboard you can actually see the waves inside the cardboard from the bottom

In the A-Team universe bullets bounce off normal cars, even normal windscreens, so not sure on the need for metal plate. Oh well, looks good.
