    I've had this system on my '13 G37x for a little over a year now and it has been totally worth it. Many people have complimented the sound. I have the Borla muffler and the Flowmasters. It sounds so good burning tunnels and on the downshifts. Great set up! I have a couple of videos on my channel including cold starts, short revs, short pull and a quick rip if you want to check out how it sounds. And as I note in the comments, sounds WAY better in person!

    I finally got my 3.0t awd done. From front to back I went with the flex pipes, magnaflow, flowmaster fx then tips. All pipes 2.5inch. Prices are up I was charged $482 for the install.They knew exactly what to do though and I didnt have to tell them anything. It sounds pretty good so far but barely drove it a day cause the car is at infiniti getting my heat exchanger installed. Will try to get some clips soon. Thanks SCS. Forgot it also came with a 2 year warranty from the shop.

  • @SHAMROCK458
    @SHAMROCK458 2 года назад +2

    2013 infiniti g37 sedan RWD. I snatched pretty much all the parts up this year early March late February, except for the flanges of course lol. Same time even came in the same box other than the resonators. Was like low $300 like $320 or so. After shopping around finally got a shop to install it. They charged sub $500 like $450. It's been so long I've forgotten the specifics I just know when it was all said and done it totaled out to $780. So really it comes down to finding a shop that's willing to do it on the cheaper side. It took them all day to do it because of the specifics of what I asked for centered around the placement of the borla x pipe. He eventually got it in there exactly where I wanted it. I don't mind sitting there all day if you're doing exactly how I want it.
    $780 for a full catback for the G37 sedan though is basically impossible outside of your exhaust setup. I searched high and low for catbacks for the sedan. There's only like 4 or 5 full catback options, 1 of which seem more like exhaust system replacement than legit performance systems. Manzo for $600 doesnt really do anything to really differentiate the car from stock. If thats the case why buy it?You have fast intentions, invidia and stillen left from my memory. I'm sure I'm missing someone though. All of those are usually over $1k especially Fi and stillen. You could probably snag a Invidia Q300 for less than $1k barely but it's possible. But that one doesn't really have a deep tone, it's more high pitched and on the whiney side.
    I then looked into axle backs and y pipe backs. The one I almost went for was the top speed y pipe back exhaust because it has a deep tone that I wanted. Issue though? It was damn near $800 and apparently had corrosion problems. Also $800 for a y pipe back just to add $300 more for the actual top speed y pipe to go full catback sorta defeats the purpose of going for the cheapest option to begin with right?
    So when I say that your system is literally the only real option for the G37 sedan that was less than $1k for a FULL CATBACK, I'm not kidding. I would've been posted sound clips by now but I don't want to until I get my cracked converters off and my resonated berk test pipes on to do the system full justice.
    But dude even with hissing/cracked cats at an idle I've had people literally question me if my car is still a V6. At idle it lopes sometimes like a v8. Its so deep.

    I wanted to hear you opinion on this. So I bought this whole setup (with resonated test pipes) but ended up opting for the magnaflow muffler. I bought the 22” resonators to account for the smaller size of the muffler but i’m still concerned about rasp. The other option would be returning the resonators and getting two straight through magnaflow mufflers (same size as the x muffler) but single in/out. If you think the longer resonators will suffice i’d rather keep some volume. Just hate rasp lol.

    • @SpeedCultureStudios
      @SpeedCultureStudios  3 месяца назад

      Rasp should be minimal if any at with the setup as is. That’s why I’ve recommended it. If for some reason you have some rasp or develop some over time. You can replace the resonators with something larger.

    I think this system sounds pretty good. Quick question though, Can your system be used on both the NA and Turbo models?

    • @SpeedCultureStudios
      @SpeedCultureStudios  2 года назад +1

      Thanks! Yes it can, and has been, but I generally recommend a slight variation, especially if they plan to continue modifying and tuning their turbo vehicle. First suggestion is to bump it up to a 3" system. The second thing is, I typically suggest going with just a standard x pipe instead of the borla. Every platform is a bit different but in the turbo Q50, many people will typically just do lower downpipes rather than full downpipes, so the need for a big muffler is not really necessary. Turbos act as a pretty good "muffler" so the borla might be excessive.

If you're doing the setup with a mid-muffler, you wouldn't really need the flowfx resonators, but with the 3.0t--especially if you're tuning--I would do an x pipe instead of the borla and then use at least some sort of larger resonator out back. I’d get ride of the factory y and replace it with the borla or magnaflow and do dual in single out if you wanted to keep that same format. Try to find a 3” outlet though to keep a lower tone

      @@SpeedCultureStudios So the latest customer to come in the shop (car is there now), went to another shop for simple fab work, and now they have their flanges cut off and welded together. We don't bend pipes, because it crimps down the diameter, so 2.5" becomes 2.25", and 3" become 2.6". We only make full diameter show competition exhausts, which are guaranteed not to leak. We don't weld on the car, because that will leak every time. This exhaust is a min 8hr single exit; dual takes more time.. Unless you're ok with leaks, and then we send them to another shop. No loss on our end at all.

    • @SpeedCultureStudios
      @SpeedCultureStudios  2 года назад

      @@milsgarage I’ve talked about this extensively, and mentioned it in this video, but the bends in this system are not extreme enough to impact anything. Even the slight loss in diameter will not hurt flow or performance. Not a single big. You really have to restrict flow to hurt performance. In addition, in the VQ in particular, the factory catback at just over 2” in some spots is not an issue, so a “crush bend” on a 2.5” pipe is certainly not a problem. Now if you’re going for a show car with mirrors showing the underside, sure I’d go a different route.
      I also have to say that if you’re getting leaks when welding on the car, you have a welding issue lol. I’ve had dozens of systems welded up while on cars and have never had a leak. I’ve also never had a shop cut off the flanges-that is just ridiculous to me-unless the person did not buy a set of flanges and had no idea what they were telling the shop. Exhaust systems are my bread and butter. I’m going in 20 years of doing this stuff on multiple platforms. I decent shop can do a very nice job with no problems.

      @@SpeedCultureStudios Alright, well you're getting hooked up by that shop you're going to. i'd probs tip them a good $400 for their work. Welding up on the car always leaks. It's a half-assed weld, and you really think there's enough room on the top end of the pipe to get the mig in there? Like i said, these shops that do that keep us in business, so i'm actually grateful

    • @SpeedCultureStudios
      @SpeedCultureStudios  2 года назад

      @@milsgarage there are over 800 people with this particular setup that are very pleased. I did not have a hook up at the shop when I got this installed three years ago. I’m not necessarily hooked on my shop it’s just that if there is one good one there are bound to be hundreds more good ones across the country. But for sure for every good one there are 200 bad ones.
      Yes in the Q50 there is room to make good welds. Flex pipe is also very helpful in this case. The tightest spot is between the pipe in the borla but the flex allows you to droop it down and access it quite easily. There is no clearance issues at all for tips and for the resonators out back-and if necessary the flex allows for additional access before hangers are welded on. Not every platform is as easy though! I’ve gotten expensive aftermarket tig welded systems over the years with pinhole leaks and motordyne has established a reputation lately for welds cracking so there is no guarantee it’s not going to leak. Even when welded by machine. But I wouldn’t trust just any shop. I drive 45 miles to mine instead of going to any of the 30 in a 10 mile radius. Definitely need to do some research before going to get exhaust work done. There’s definitely a need for what you all do! It’s just not attainable or practical for most. But to say you can’t get good, quick work at a local shop is just not true. There are some very talented shops out there that would take offense to that.
      You also have to remember that this is a budget friendly alternative to those expensive systems on the market. If you’re paying 8+ hours in labor alone there really isn’t a point.
