Your take on the Angels selecting Moore should be questioned. What makes you think that they’d be better off taking a player who has more upside but needs more development when they haven’t been successful anytime in recent history developing minor league position players. Moore is likely a 25 HR guy who will play 2B at a fine level, which they would love to have soon. They may very well be playing meaningful games in 2026 given the direction they seem to be headed. D+ seems extremely harsh given the talent of the player. I suppose time will tell.
I have no problem with the player. Moore is great, I would've had him a bit lower (10-15) in an ideal world, and I think where were better players for the spot. I just don't love the notion of a team picking players year after year just to force them into the majors. This prospect system was ranked as one of the worst in baseball and I think grabbing a guy with higher potential or going underslot would have been better for the prospect system. I don't have the faith you do in the angels direction as a team personally, I think they are a ways away from competing.
I will say the talent of the player should've probably played a bit more like I did with Chase Burns at 2. That's a fair criticism, and I probably let my hatred for this direction the Angels keep going in the draft affect this grade a little. So for that I do apologize
But taking polished college guys who get to the majors quick is why they are struggling to develop players instead of taking their time. Bachman over Andrew Painter, Brady House, and Harry Ford in 2021, Neto over Jett Williams, Dylan Lesko, Justin Crawford, and Cam Collier in 2022, and Schanuel over Kyle Teel last year. Maybe Moore ends up being good, but you passed on Griffin, Rainer, Montgomery, and Tibbs for an inferior (imo) player.
@@justinanthony6825personally I rather have neto over those players n schanuel over teel especially with o hoppe as our main catcher only thing is that bachman pick was bad.
As a Reds fan, I preferred a bat going into the draft knowing either Condon or Bazzana would be there, if not both, but them drafting Burns makes sense. They have trouble signing high-end pitchers because of the field, so if they want a chance at an elite pitcher, they have to draft them.
Come on guy, the Angels are getting a D+ for Christin Moore? That makes no sense. That team needs a lot, but now they will be strong up the middle with Moore, Neto and Hoppe for the next 10-years. I agree that the better move would have been to draft Konnor Griffin, but Moore is not a D+. I'd say with who was on the board it was a B+.
Malcom Moore has elite discipline and good swing and miss numbers on pitches inside the zone. Baseball is a hard sport to understand what each team is good at. For the Rangers, the one thing being overlooked is how good our catching coach Bobby Wilson is. He took Andrew Kziner from below average framing and one of the worst in baseball to an above average/really good pitch framer. Based on what I’ve read it seems to be some tweaks here and there that should make him a good back stop and Texas is the team to do it. He may never win a gold glove, but the bat seems like it’ll stick and they should be able to have him as a good, not great catcher at least fielding wise.
And maybe the biggest argument for taking him over White, is the value of him possibly sticking at catcher and then moving to first vs White who seems much more likely to transition to first than stick at third in comparison (though I’m not sure because the A’s took Kurtz at 4….idk🤷🏻♂️😂). I guess having a guy who could be a catcher and then move to first is more valuable than a guy who could stay at third but likely won’t stick either.
Hey man. Awesome stuff. I definitely liked the griffin pick but man the rest of the draft is all question marks. Thought for sure they'd get Tommy white or Amick with that comp pick. They needed a college bat to go through this system and help next year
Yeah I was really surprised they went with a boom or bust draft almost clear down the board. I would've been ecstatic with White, I never really thought of that possibly till now
@@AveryTaylor69 the only other guy I'm intrigued about is green but he had tj in like March so he won't be back til like this time next year but throws really hard. Potential future closer
Here for your horrible take on the Angels. Would you have given the Angels a D if they took weatherholt ? Moore is a great pick and theres no talk about rushing him to the bigs. If he comes up it will be because he done well enough to be called up. Neto and Shanual got the call up because of how well they did in the minors. Not just for shits and giggles.
Neto played a total of 48 minor league games. Schanuel played even less. That's a ridiculously low number to say they weren't rushed. And to answer your question about wetherholt, no I wouldn't have because the value of the player for the spot. There were better players for the spot. So they forced a pick to fit the mold they have in place.
Personally it had to do with a few things. Firstly in my eyes he's a 2nd basemen which limits his upside. Also if he didn't go 1 the earliest he probably could've went at 4 so there wasn't that much of a drop from there. Also simply I didn't want to have too many As. I felt giving 3 teams in the top 6 was a lot and unfortunately Wetherholt and the cardinals was the odd man out.
I am ok with most first round pick, most of them are at least A, Reds B,, you pass Condon and Burns can be hit. Angels not bad but Tibbs fitting more so B, Pirates may not develop Griffin well but still A or A-,not bc they should not, just not the great fit, pitchers maybe be better. National B, I love King, but you pass Tibbs and king has some of risks that too hard to judge if someone and fix it. Brewers B, not a bad player, just hope the saving money work, Twins, I know College SS had high value, but pass some really better hitter, B. Phillips B, maybe it is a money saving choice, and Phili do not take the age disadvantage. If considering this is it A, but still, you can choose Caldwell who it better

With the Mariners' pitching development as of late, I'm just fine with the pick.

When Cags is ready put him in that 3 hole behind Witt Jr and look out
