I've listened to this version of the song for many many years and it still is as impactful today. These men are amazing. I prefer this version than the original.
This took me back to a simpler time when I was 18 and drivin to downtown LA, the smell of dry wall forever designating in my nose and faded blue jeans. My hair would be full of dust and my steering wheel stained white. I can remember the smell I can only describe as industrial and the sweet smell of dry sweep. Singing this song as loud as I could drumming away on my dash and steering wheel in the rush hour traffic which was and still is the bane to my existence. I had the world at my fingertips ready to explore and conquer. You never know what will hit you when listening to an old song.
Every version of this song that I have found thus far I have liked; each one is just different enough to me to be interesting. As a strong aside, I hope this group and this talent is in for a long and productive career in music making; as they mature further their group will be possibly even more phenomenal than they already are.
i just love this version of a song. they show the singers true voice and talent. just a guitar and some slaps. it doesn't over rule his voice. just amazing.
can i just say how much dog is dead and Bastille? they sound so different but yet so alike, im so inlove with both. this version just leaves me breathless. beautiful harmonies. honestly. the lead singers in both groups just sound alike
Specially 0:37, 1:41 and 1:45 - 1:50 are amazing! :) But what am I saying: the whole song is amazing - the whole band! :) Many, many people know that, but maybe not those 121 out there. Honestly, you don't have to love that, but how can you dislike that?! ;)
this song is so personal to me. the beauty of music is that when it is written from the heart it can become universal. thank you mahogany and thank you Bastille xoxo
Mahogany Sessions are always the best acoustic versions. It's insanely beautiful seeing all those artists having a blast creating gorgeous music. I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!!!!
I watched this like 15 times cause I was so mesmerized by the guy snapping and clapping while singing, for real that's way harder than he's making it look
I loved these sessions before so watching them now feels like a nostalgic trip to my younger self. I guess time to bring this enthusiasm back. cheers y'all
Pompeii was actually my least favourite Batille song for the longest thing because of how overplayed it was. But I am JUST discovering this acoustic version and I absolutely LOVE IT *gasps* Thank you, Mahogany Sessions!
Happy one-year anniversary to this video! May their clapping and snapping stay as sharp as the day that Mahogany Sessions recorded them! May they always sing in such harmony! May Dan's magnificent quiff never droop!
That would be a no. As much as it's refreshing to see someone with so much talent to be so down to earth, he actually considers himself inferior to pretty much everyone else and it physically aches me to see a person so amazingly gifted actually surprised if people come to their gigs. Oh, and on one occasion he called himself horrifyingly ugly and it almost made me cry.
If you enjoyed this session, please hit the Like or Subscribe button 👍 It helps us a lot 😊 Thanks! 🖤
The rasp in Dans voice is just perfection.
I am most amazed at how the drummer does the rhythm with his hands.
Its woody not "the drummer"😌
@@snakesare_biting1220 Apologies. After 5 years, I am still most amazed at how Woody, who is not the drummer, does the rhythm with his hands.
@@LootFragg BSHAHA I always wonder if I reply to people comments from like 5 years ago if they're reply lol
this is so cool
My heart skips a beat when his voice cracks.
Hey, fellow Shweta! :)
a trick: watch movies on Flixzone. I've been using them for watching all kinds of movies these days.
@Holden Howard yea, I have been using flixzone for since november myself :D
@Holden Howard yup, been using flixzone for months myself =)
@Holden Howard yea, been using flixzone for years myself :)

How am I only just discovering mahogany sessions, this is amazing!
+Amy Machell XD ikr
same here, two years later. 😬
3 years later xD
I wish their studio recordings were as cool as their live sessions
Mason McConnell just thinking the same thing. they sound so original stripped down. studio version takes alot away from the chemistry of this tune.
James Collins kk
Mason McConnell I
I like both. The studio version has that epic, apocalyptic vibe while the unplugged really reveals the beauty of the song.
this guy's voice is just unreal.. such a great band.
dan smith's accent is my favorite thing in the world
These guys look like they're just having a blast jamming out its great
so glad I found this channel

Mahogany Sessions you're absolutely amazing, I've literally been watching and commenting all morning

I am so much happy
These guys have amazing harmony. I like it even better here.
Until I saw them clapping hands and snapping fingers I was sure there was a drum computer playing in the background... magnificent. Great song.
I love the 'unproduced' sound, really shows the talent of these guys.
This is what we really call ART
So what was your previous job? Oh just one of those 'eh oh' guys.
A tellitubby?
Possibly the greatest recording engineers ever. Seriously thank you guys from the bottom of my heart for all that you do. ♥ @MahoganySessions
the freakin percussion guy has got it down haha
The concentration on all of their faces, and they say men can't multitask. Absolutely incredible!
1:41 was awesome!!!!
I enjoyed this better than the studio version, tbph
I had no idea this band has actual talent. This is fantastic, possibly better without real production.
Im loving mahogany sessions!!

I found this channel about a month back.. I feel so behind. The music in this channel fits my personality so perfectly.
I've listened to this version of the song for many many years and it still is as impactful today. These men are amazing. I prefer this version than the original.
I love how Dan has a "shy" smile at the begining.
his voice and the snapping and clapping and tapping and eh ohs and just everything gave me the most tremendous shivers
It's been more than 6 years since I first heard this and it's still as refreshing as it was the first time. Love Bastille !
Dan Smith (the singer of Bastille) is by far one of the best vocalists of all time.
Of all time? Right... you must be high.
REiiDOx i'm 3 years late i know....
but what's wrong with that? his voice is awesome and unique
Austin Clark I think You haven't heard Steve of Kodaline yet 🌹

I love the studio version of this song, but I love this version even more. I'm all about rawness and acoustics, and this session delivers
Every version of this song that I have found thus far I have liked; each one is just different enough to me to be interesting. his voice at 1:41 never fails to take my breath away
the whole band was awesometacular

'Oh where do we begin, the rubble or our sins'. Favourite line.
Best voice ever, hands down people!
Favorite band, favorite song in all it's acoustic glory, it doesn't get better than this.
"I'm gonna be an octopus about this"
I'm pretty sure that there is nothing that they can't do ! Just beautiful.
So like 1:41 is amazing:)
When he does that with his voice my heart melts
Tess Rederburg damn you guys are sharp. It's so subtle
It's amazing how simple tapping and clicking can make the most awesome song ever.

As long as Bastille continues making incredible music, absolutely nobody should lose any respect and passion int their songs. :)
God that voice! He's amazing :)
I love real people who sing real music because they really love to. It's nice to see real musicians again.

Happy one-year anniversary to this video! May their clapping and snapping stay as sharp as the day that Mahogany Sessions recorded them! May they always sing in such harmony! May Dan's magnificent quiff never droop!
This was so beautiful ❤
this cover is one of the only which correctly sings the second bit of "if you close your e-y-es." that is my favourite par. thank you for being great
I didn't even like this song until this performance.
Happy to see we've changed your mind on it. :)
***** I can't believe you're dumb enough to not be able to acknowledge that not everyone has the same tastes as yours.
Bornstellar Makes Eternal Lasting oooooohh where's the water for that burrrnnn loool
ScarletVoodoo The Mahogany Sessions Same here. Never really enjoyed the original version, but this one is beautiful.
I was the same way but with the Live in Paris acoustic version
My favorite American bands are Fleet Foxes, The Decemberists, Sea Wolf, Typhoon, The Last Bison, and Shearwater. They're all amazing.
2:59 - 3:03 makes me feel beautiful about life :D
That would be a no. As much as it's refreshing to see someone with so much talent to be so down to earth, he actually considers himself inferior to pretty much everyone else and it physically aches me to see a person so amazingly gifted actually surprised if people come to their gigs. Oh, and on one occasion he called himself horrifyingly ugly and it almost made me cry.
His voice is unreal that rasp gets me every time
jesus man. i am clapping my hand from now on while i'm singing :D
This is bloody beautiful!! I've heard you guys on the radio loads but this beats all of that by a mile.
This is very inspiring. Thank you!
+Ingeborg Prida de Sena YOu should listen to them more often. =3
Can i just be on the beach, chilling in a hammock with a sweet tea while i listen to this on repeat? Perfection.
So much better than fully produced version
Talent like this needs to be known by all.

+hel615 Subscriberd because BASTILLE performed here, and with the fact that this happened back on 2012, biy they are lucky. IMHO of course. =3
