Bastille - Pompeii is on iTunes : bit.ly/BASTILLEPOMPEII

Even when his voice cracks it's still so beautiful
yeah
His voice is so interesting to listen too. Has so much depth and character. The whole stinkin band is awesome
Lotta o.o it cracks damn lot
It reminds me of Kurt Cobain's voice cracks, they pop up and yet add to the soul.
TimPompeii
I just remembered why I admire drummers that much.
I can barely clap in a rhythm.
I can't freakin clap two beats 😂
SAME!!!!
Noobs xd
♡♡
yeah the fact he's fucking able to do 2 RITMNS WHIT A EMPTY GUITAR CASE AND HIS HANDS is incredibly astonishing
Just classics still slapping a decade later
Anybody else like the edgy, flawed, parts in his voice?
I loved it
+thewarofworlds jst u
They hit me in my soul
what flaws?
+Jake Castro the ones you wear upon your sleeves
the guy on the very left.
"what instrument do you play?"
"uh.. the pants"
Yeah, Kyle can instrumentalize the pants best. Remember, anyway they still uses guitar.
IV watched closely and he slapping his thighs .
🤣🤣
HAHAHAHAHAHA 😂😂😂😂
u know, Kyle can play everything :3
i love how even if he's the lead singer, he keeps looking at his bandmates, he's looking down, and like he's not trying to be the only one in the spotlight... he's standing next to them and like idk i just love them
That's why this band is so awesome. No one thinks they're better than the other ones. Look at Oasis got ruined because of their egos, finally their feud ended.
weet ikniet Yea I love this. Bastille and it's members always stick together. I think Bastille is all about making song for it's royal fans and not for the money.
Bryan Tran I think that most musicians don't do it for the money, because you can't be very successful in art if you're doing it for money. You almost have to feel it.
I agree... although it must be a bit awkward standing in a large empty building singing your lungs out.
yeah I agree its also nice how he doesn't dress wildly to take the spot light. they all wear converse, jeans, and a nice shirt.
I love the gruff in his voice in the first NOTHING
Tiesha Alanis y
What
Probably had a few drinks night before or had a gig. Thats like a shakey early morning cracked vocal
That's what keeps me coming back to this version of the song
Anyone listening to this masterpiece in 2020? I mean quarantine, lockdown?
Pure art!
Yes
Me
Shut up please stop seeking attention in youtube
Chill
Summer 2021 gang wya
You can literally give them a wall and they'll be able to make music as good as the studio version with that wall
jlklai98 what about four walls? sorry that was dumb ok bye have a good day
Bastilles got that one voice that you cant get bored of no matter how repetitive you make it.
Is it just me, or are the building acoustics just absolutely stunning? They add a lovely bit of echo.
0:53. I'm a guy and I just had an eargasm. That was raw passion for the song. It shows the talent of a pure singer. It actually made me shiver hearing how raw that was.
4R yes
4 guys rocking with only a guitar and its case is a sure sign of talent.
Of course!
This is my 3 year old daughters favorite song. She has to get her toy guitar & sing along. She's renamed it "the close your eyes song"
That is so adorable
Cute
she's 8 years old now :') time does flies doesn't it?
Wow! 8 years old! I wonder if she still likes the close your eyes song.
she 8 or seven now
this. gave me actual goosebumps. so so powerful. and clean.... and just a masterpiece.
It’s a great song❤
Kyle should be a professional penguin (for another example, see the "flaws" - acoustic version)
omg ikr 😂😂😂 I love him 😍😍😍😍😍
+Manon Area Minds Going Reynolds me too😂💕
I was looking for a comment about this.Gotta love Kyle❤️👌🏻
Kyle the penguin sounds so cool 😂😂😂❤❤❤
His voice is a miracle. I love this band so much
FUCKING LOVE IT!!!!!!! BETTER THAN ORIGINAL!!!!!! REPLAY BUTTON BEING ABUSED!!!!!
This is Not a cover
This is the Band Bastille :D
And the Original singer
Jan Kociok Remind me when i said it was a cover?
Better then original ?
This is the original Band Hmm Lol
Oh ok :D
Jan Kociok its the original band but not original version.
Absolutely incredibly. Thank you so much for this.
I'm a drummer, and I've got my own ideas, but this was phenominal. Thank you for this.
These lyrics certainly hit differently this year.
😬 yup
I'm in love with his voice i want to bottle it and keep it somewhere sacred idk i just feel that his voice is this unique valuable special rare thing that i want to possess if that makes any sense
It sounds scraped raw-but in a good way, if that makes sense? Like when you're straddling the barrier between sick and not sick. His is that way all the time though. It kind of-I don't know what word to use..smoky, I guess? It's stunning though, you're right.
I also wish I could have his voice and him... In my basement, so I could look at his beautiful face and listen to his amazing voice anytime I wanted but that's illegal :(
Vanny Lidl yes... yes it is.
I think you should see someone about that
Maybe he doesn't have best songs, but I listen to every one of them just because of his voice
There are infinite experiences that are so much more fulfilling without technological enhancements - this acoustic version, but sadly not their other versions is certainly of that level of perfection. What makes this perfect? It harkens back to our most essential, hand clapping and stomping to provide percussion, harmony and dissonance, and singing in a cavernous space to amplify both meaning and sound.
It's hard to come up with the right words to express how I feel.
Yes
This is my favorite recording of this song by far.
I just love the way that he says "dust" at 1:21. Makes my heart melt! :)
2:28 four sturdy men singing such sweet-sounding falsettos
in 2024🖤 song gym motivation
I feel like this is the reason so many ppl hate Jacob sartorious. He has to auto tune his voice, when other people (like Bastille) can sound literally amazing with nothing but a guitar
No need to use that slur
Veronika M Jacob?
Sounds just as amazing live
5 000 000 views ! That's just amazing ! Thanks BASTILLEvideos

Why is Dan so cuteee

We just reached 2 million of views with this #acoustic version of #Pompeii by BastilleVEVO ! If you like it, you'll like this acoustic version of #Flaws > ruclips.net/video/Y3D-B56YgXQ/видео.html
Pretty sure at least a quarter of a million of those are from my mom.
elmoiswatchingyou lmao, and another half from me :)
elmoiswatchingyou
elmoiswatchingyou's mother here, and I swear I have only watched this video in the one to two hundred thousand range,
Erin Youngberg Hahahaha
Erin Youngberg elmoiswatchingyou that is by far the best 2 things i've seen all day. *claps*
I thought these guys were good but now I know I was wrong....They are AMAZING!!!! I can't stop listening Dan's voice
I can't stop staring at Kyle's majestic beard.
Carolina Valverde
I knew it was DanTDM!
Ugh he's such a good singer 😫😍
These guys have come so far...they are amazing artists.
What's great about this one is how you can actually hear is range and his voice. It doesn't sound like he's straining or pushing it. It's just him and the background music and it's absolutely lovely.
I sing this song so much and I just realized I've been singing it in his accent LOL
same ahaha
Ditto lol
Jennifer Garcia I make four!
I always knew there was something off about the man to the left.... He's a bass player.
Noah Fischer he’s actually not. He plays the keys/synth. The guy playing guitar is the bassist
They're going to be around for a looong time! I see them getting HUGE!! This is the music that appeals to so many, their audience size will only grow and grow. Drummer kills. His voice will only hone in and get better. Just like their audience size, their talent will continue to grow. They're amazing.
i don't think so
Sorry, but this is pretty much the only song anyone knows n you never hear anything bout em these day's.
@@philpants44It's okay. Someday a kid wandering in the internet will come across this song of theirs. And that kid will feel as if he's living someone else's life.
This version should have been the single.
I love how dan just looks so amazed the entire time like he's looking all around as he sings like guys did you see the ceiling
Can't ask for a better natural reverb than that. Incredible sound!!!!
A live acoustic version will have memorable, necessary flaws. Gorgeous. I love this performance.
they're SO UNDERRATED.
One word explains this group: Outstanding. A band that can actually perform live without the use of the technology. Simply wonderful.
I was left to my own dev-I-I-ces
Many days fell away with nothing to show
And the walls kept tumbling down
In the city that we love
Gray clouds roll over the hills
Bringing darkness from above
But if you close your eyes,
Does it almost feel like
Nothing changed at all?
And if you close your eyes,
Does it almost feel like
You've been here before?
How am I gonna be an optimist about this?
How am I gonna be an optimist about this?
We were caught up and lost in all of our vices
In your pose as the dust settled around us
And the walls kept tumbling down
In the city that we love
Gray clouds roll over the hills
Bringing darkness from above
But if you close your eyes,
Does it almost feel like
Nothing changed at all?
And if you close your eyes,
Does it almost feel like
You've been here before?
How am I gonna be an optimist about this?
How am I gonna be an optimist about this?
Oh where do we begin?
The rubble or our sins?
Oh oh where do we begin?
The rubble or our sins?
And the walls kept tumbling down (oh where do we begin?)
In the city that we love (the rubble or our sins?)
Gray clouds roll over the hills (oh where do we begin?)

Well it is such a great moment when a group, a sound, a phenomenon of harmony, rhythm and percussion (without standard drums and sticks) make art of creative and very talented voices and musical ability! So.. So.. Fine.... Kodaline !!!
Dan's such a sweet guy. I've lost count how many times I've seen him wearing that gray jacket of his. I will cherish this group of nice talented people like how Dan cherish his things. Love you Bastille!
The smile in his voice at 2:37 is a thing of beauty.
Still good 3 years later.
Still good 5 years later
Still good 6 years later 😏
Still good 7 years later!
Still good 6 years later
Still good 7 years later
2023 still gives me chills

That freakin' voice !!!
8 years n still one of the greatest performances in my life
pretty cool, right ?
Simply Awesome!
So there I was sitting in a very old church in a far away land known as Hungry back in 2000, it was cold, dimly lit, with the only light coming form sun sparkling through the stain glass. Listening to a pastor I could not understand a word he said, so I just prayed there with slightly warm knees because the only heat crept out from a long small heater beneath the pew. As I looked out in the dim atmosphere, what stuck out the most was the cold breath of the attendees. There was a long silence and all I could hear were the breathes being taken in and out. Then the choir started...The hair on the back of my neck shot up! Talk about power, this was a show like no other. The old churches were built for full soul impact by some holy genius with top secret cathedral blue prints. The sound, the ambiance was unreal and unforgettable. Why did I share this story? Because I'd like to see today's artist singing in those cathedrals, the sound would be like no other.
Well, this made my morning considerably better!
I just adore the slight roughness to his voice. That gravelly sound is my absolute favorite in guys' voices
anyone listening to this masterpiece in 2019
Listen to this band lots any year good time ✌
Who isn't
Every week at least!

Dan sounds incredible on the album, but when stripped to bare bones like this, it gives me chills. This is such a great live rendition, and I honestly wish more artists would do this sort of thing. No autotune, no mixing. Just them, their voice, and a guitar.
This has got to be the most fabulous virtually unaccompanied version of any song I've ever heard..so clever how they mimic the missing instruments and effects. Beautiful setting in the Museum of Fine Arts in Paris and fine young men! Totally in awe of them!
this is the best thing i've seen in a while! thank you god for given us bastille!
I have watched this dozens of times, but this is the first time I’ve listened with headphones. The mix is absolutely fantastic.
2:38 you can hear the smile coming through in his voice 😍
This is amazing! They can sing it awesomely anywhere! This is a true band.
He sings gorgeously. They are amazing all together live andpure just like that
Dan's voice is so amazing😍 God blessed him with an amazing talent
The acoustics in this space are amazing.
yeahhh
The exchange of smiles at 2:31....ugh. Adorable. Pricless.
God... I remember listening to this song on my mother's iphone 5s when I was seven or eight with my brother. Now college is starting for me soon. Oh how I treasure this song.
2022 and I still listen to this
Seen this about 7 times in a row. I love his style, voice, EVERYTHING, i might have an addiction
Arly Delrosario Same... Lol
Same
Nahh man you have a crush
I live the way he stands on his tip toes when he hits a note. Its so fucking adorable.
this is so simple, yet so amazing. if only other artists can apply this kind of discipline where artist only emphasize the skill, music, and pure art, i believe our music generation can earn more respect.
Yes! I always hated the song when it was popular on the radio but I never heard the acoustic version until this year. I'm in love with it.
The dudes lyrical and musical ability far surpasses his taste in jeans
LOL
There is nothing wrong with his jeans.
These are just normal jeans
thats the trend now old man
His genes are fucking amazing, tho
Why can't I like it more than once? Cuz, I like this A LOT!!
Very nice this version.. I like so much... The most simple things are the most beautiful!
This is literally one of my most favourite songs ever!
This live version is amazing! His voice! UGH!!
+KerryAND Thank you ! Don't hesitate to share it ! 😊
yesh haha
awww.... this is totally awesome.. his voice tho
I think he was having a cold or something, nevertheless it's still good!
Micky Williams well you're definitely not a virgin.
Anyone else notice that the singer was showing the other guy when to stomp and clap? he's a perfectionist and I love it.
He Is clapping and stomping to get his own rhythm. Not to instruct the other guy. It's live remember =)
Indeed. if those guys required instructions on when to clap they would not be in the band :]
Ok I just saw him too I was like WTF !
When I first discovered them (over a year ago) I thought that Dan was really bossy because of another video where he did it as well and I misinterpreted it :D but now I know that he is the softest, sweetest and most handsome humanbeing there is 😍😂
Completely irrelevant maybe, but the guy with the long hair which is "clapping and stomping" is a real drummer. And the singer is not.
Happy 10 years 'Pompeii'!!
My favorite part (besides the vocals and Kyle looking like a lost penguin) is that it's all smooth soothing camera pans until 2:47 then it looks like someone handed it to an editor and was like cut this up a bit and make it look cool
Also the fact that they like bare down for the drop like they all kind of lean forward and brace themselves
he has the perfect voice
I must say this again, like in the British Museum: The harmoniousness between this voices is so great !!!!
I love how his voice cracks and he steps on his tiptoes in the higher notes, his raspy voice is beautiful. Also you can see this is good music because is raw, with only a guitar, hands, voices and you still hear harmonies, a drum and everything like it was studio recorded... Great musicians for this times.
Is it me or does he kinda look like Ted Mosby.
Ikr
omg this is so accurate
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this.
yes its you
and 50+ people.
C'est juste parfait j'adore ça voix il chante a merveille
En plus joué avec des battements de mains c'est juste génial bonne continuation mes choux
that guy to the left looks a bit lost in the acoustic version, LOL
HAHAHA now i can't stop looking at him. so funny
lol he's their left shark
qjtrinh ahhahahahhaahhahhahaah
It's bc he's the bassist lol
Eren - he’s the synth player not the bassist. The bassist is actually the guitarist in this video. At the time they didn’t have a guitarist he just played it when they did acoustic things
This is such an iconic song and we didn't really know it at the time. Who would have thought the music market would not grow significantly in terms of quality.
i watched this video a million times and still love it
My favorite part was definitely the old man watching, he's probably worked there for years and has never seen anything like that, awesome
This is just pure talent.
I love how passionate Dan looks and is
this is so good, I listen to this version every day
ah my gosh he's so perfect
They're really good. I need to start listening to them more. Hm.
Very nice acoustic version...the reverb just sounds great...perfect location
Somethings beautiful about that old timer just standing there taking in this type of music. Sure it made his day
