- Kid Cudi’s 2008 debut mixtape 'A Kid Named Cudi' served as a catalyst in the Ohio rapper’s career. Created in close collaboration with Emile Haynie and Plain Pat, the latter of whom also served as his manager, the project features Cudi’s debut commercial single “Day ‘N’ Nite,” which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and remains his highest charting song to date. The mixtape caught the attention of Kanye West, who signed Cudi to G.O.O.D. Music. The creative partners would go on to collaborate on several projects together, notably the Chicago rapper’s seminal '808s & Heartbreak,' Cudi’s major label debut 'Man on the Moon: The End of Day,' and their joint album 'Kids See Ghosts.'

I remember when Kanye and Cudi were beefing. That shit hurt more than seeing my parents fight as a kid.
Same i was so fucking mad they were beefing, they need to stay homies man
Y’all both are pathetic
Sir 10k Thanks fam, I appreciate your words of kindness
Daniel Barton whoa, hey man let’s calm down on the racist remarks. We don’t need that here

Cudi so influential and underrated
He is not underrated. He gets the respect he deserves in the rap scene.
CudBino II maybe i have a wrong impression because of the people surrounding me. Amongst my friends, Cudder is seen as one of the biggest pioneers of rap. Looking in social media, this opinion seems to be very popular, so i thought he would get the respect he deserves.
Alexisch Behrend Look how many views a Drake video gets smh
Jérémy B sadly that's how it is. Nowadays real artists are barely present in the mainstream media. For how great of an artist Cudi is, i would say he is very well known.
Without Kid Cudi we have no:
-Kevin Abstract
-Travis $cott
-Drake (in an aspect)
Aaron P. can you please watch my video? and if you would like to, comment ?
Basic Marii stop
Aaron P. childish gAmbino chance the rapper anyone who sings on their songs but claim to be a rapper because without kid cudi we would have never got 808
Xxxtentacion was influenced by kid cudi

UniBeastBeats - Rap Beats & Hip Hop Instrumentals would u say it was “soundtrack to your life”
Yeah and MOTM was like a movie for me, i was on the train going to work at 6 AM, and it was like being in a dream for me. Beat were so different from other production, it was like experiencing a trip on the space. I was young 23 years old. So good memories on bad moments.

Man on the moon, the end of days is the greatest hip hop album ever.
I love that album but greatest of all time, yeah no. It is Cudi’s peak though
@@TheNadroj10 in your opinion what is the greatest hip-hop album of all time then?
Hagrid's Brother Actually I don’t know, greatest is an extremely huge term, really and this might be a cop out, there probably isn’t a greatest album in hip hop
Greatest “hip hop” album of all is Nas’ 1994 debut, Illmatic. A close second being Reachin’, by Digable Planets.
you spelled dark fantasy wrong
Cudi the goat

@@KartikChugh man on the moon
Cudi is one of the most influential artists of the last decade. Man of the moon inspired the current generation of hip hop. Kids See Ghosts will influence the sound to come.
IamFirtyDucker Kids see ghost got slept on by so many people did it coming out a week after ye but it really is a masterpiece
Can Kid Cudi & Frank Ocean collaborate before I die please? 🙏
Covenant Government omg yes, I've never been contemplated this, but it would be spectacularly unique
Young Lean hinted that Cudi was supposed to be on Self Control in an interview. They’ve tried, but the timing wasn’t right. I still have hope for the future!
Yo i can die peacefully after that i swear to god!!!!!!
That Dude Najarian fuck I want to hear that so badly now
Covenant Government well rip in advance since u won’t get to hear that

the one and only the legend... my fav artist ever... saved my life not just once 🖤
Damn i appreciate the fact that Genius noticed the impact of this album. This album changed my life and many many others as well 🐐👾
cudi will go down as one of the most influential and greatest artist of this generation... personally he my favorite rapper of all time cause he’s just makes me feel like no other artist can make me feel... like he deadass the only artist that has made me cry to a song. This man rly made vulnerability in hip hop less stigmatized ... and just by telling story he saved lives. There would be no travis scott if it wasnt for cudi... and these new rappers would not be talkin about depression as much as they do now...
I use to listen to the mixtape during my bus ride home from school everyday 😭😭
Cudi is a genius
Finally someone gets this mans some respect
cudi deserves this
Definitely an all time great
One Of The Greatest Mixtapes Of All Time

Between 2009 and 2011, I don’t think a day went by that I didn’t listen to something related to Kid Cudi.
A friend of mine introduced me to the Crookers remix of Day n’ Nite in late 2008/early 2009 but I didn’t pay much attention to it. I then somehow stumbled across the A Kid Named Cudi mixtape and was hooked by the melodies and general stoner/emotional sentiment behind the music (I was 13/14 at the time, so peak emo).
This video points out what I now realize I appreciated about Cudi’s classic mixtape-it put me on to a different sound. I was big into Nas and other lyrical rappers at the time, but after this mixtape, I was all about the melodies. As a kid from the Bronx, what the hell was I supposed to know about some of the artists Cudi sampled on this tape? They weren’t around me. I remember singing The Prayer with my friends over Xbox Live. I remember trying to memorize the lyrics to Man on the Moon. I remember following Cudi’s blog where he addressed an issue he had with Drake back in 2009 or so. I remember replaying the RUclips video of Cudi freestyling over a beat 88-Keys made (it should still be on RUclips; do yourself a favor and watch it if you haven’t). I was a Cudi fan through and through.
It’s crazy that this mixtape has turned 10. Ten years ago doesn’t seem too long ago, but it is. And it’s crazy that some of these memories and feelings that I haven’t visited in 7+ years instantly resurface at the sound of 50 Ways to Make a Record, etc.
Thank you Cudi.
Still love that mixtape, will probably be listening to that for decades, no joke
Literally name any new rapper from 2014 to now...yeah Cudi fathered them all
Pieces of a man
Not Lou the Human, but I get your point, Cudi is the most influential artist of our decade.
Kid Cudi the goat. Simple
Wow I entered my senior year listening to this project. 10 years later and he is still cudi, never changed 🙌🏽
Probably my favorite video now from Genius
where did this beauty come from?
dropping knowledge about The Cudder, while wearing a shirt w/ King Push' face on it...
I think the most important song on AKNC is 50 ways to write a record, IMO. Cus at that point you would've NEVER HEARD a rapper dare use folk music.
Im ,23 and i feel like a ton of kids in my generation and others needed kid Cudi and others like him to show us we weren't the only ones having these thoughts and dealing with mental illness. Thankyou Cudi❤️ u made highschool that much easier ..
This was an awesome video Genius! I’ll love Cudders forever
That's why he's Big Brother 👽💚

Cudder was the anthem king for sure during high school graduated 2013. Hands down the best time ever, thanks Scott Mescudi.
Stay blessed big bro.
Dopest album i ever heard. I still listen to it
I love Kid Cudi
RIP X
Cudi is the best at sampling. Just look up the sample for "Teleport to me, Jamie" and "Young Lady" and see what he did with it, you'll be blown away!
I really respect that you guys cut the song off before Cudster drops “N***a“
This album changed my life. Thank you Cudi.
So underrated
The singing part in "Whenever" gives the fucking chills man that's the thing about Cudi's music, when you connect to it it's always on some deep ass level
Day N Nite literally transports me back to being 17 years old everytime I hear it.
Cudi can do no wrong

“Man on the Moon” will forever be favorite song by him and up there over, it’s amazing.
Also, “The Prayer” sampled “The Funeral” by Band of Horses

The man is magic.
NO BETTER ARTIST TO EXIST...THE SAVIOUR THE MAN ON THE MOON THE RAGER!

Lovely video!
The greatest
The prayer is cudis best song and the best rap song ever
The prayer and man on the moon my favorite songs.
Some things people don’t understand is that cudi helped some many people through so much and even me when I was like 10 and a kid named cudi or man on the moon came out it made me understand myself more and helped me through many things and that’s why not matter what I’ll always love cudi.
