  • Kid Cudi’s 2009 debut album, 'Man on the Moon: End of the Day,' influenced an entire generation of artists. Centered around his breakthrough hit, “Day ‘N’ Nite,” the project put the Ohio rapper in the spotlight following his debut mixtape, A Kid Named Cudi, and work on Kanye West’s '808s & Heartbreak.' Cudi deliberately chose not to have Kanye too involved in 'Man on the Moon,' and instead established his sound by working with a small group of producers including Emile Haynie, Jeff Bhasker, Plain Pat, and Ratatat. On the album, he tells the story of a dream over five acts to introduce his persona to the world, establishing him as a beacon of hope for generations to come.

Kanye & Cudi made me fall in love with music (808 & heartbreak had a big impact on my life). I was a freshman in college in a small poor country in Africa, away from my family with no friends, and obviously got bullied and all. But I held on strong. Ye has earned the GOAT status no matter what. He's just ahead of everyone else. And obviously, Cudi has been solid rock ever since. An absolute definition of Change.10 years later Kids See Ghosts is also changing people. They have transformed not only music/art but also generations of people. Thank you guys. This album played such a huge part of my life. When I was a senior in high school I struggled with doubt and anxiety and probably depression. I self medicated by smoking a lot of weed and I listened to this album ALOT. I couldn’t really describe my feelings and thoughts at the time. I was just too young and naive to look inward. Once I listened to the album it just put all those thoughts and feelings into words. I used to ignore those t&f because I thought I was alone. Knowing I wasn’t alone gave me peace and understanding of others. This album changed how I viewed the world at the time.
