As someone recently diagnosed with ADHD, 100% agree with this! I performed extremely well in school, but once I got to University, I struggled because I was on my own for the first time and had lost that structure of school and being under my parent’s house.
I wish our schools were better equipped to accommodate every child’s individual needs. I don’t know how realistic it is, but I hope we will get there someday.🙏🏾

This is literally what I was bringing up to my mother who is a teacher. Education CANNOT BE THE SAME FOR EVERYONE. I'm a creative guy. The only subjects I got really good marks for was EGD(Technical drawing) and Arts&Culture. I'm a very artistic person!! Hated high school with a passion because of the lack creative stimulation. There needs to be a change in the education system!!!

As a teacher I fully concur! Fortunately, at my school we are encouraged to teach skills, such as handwork and farming as well.

I think All children must get same education at school. Parents should tailor individual education at home and in the community. Because are you going change syllabus every 20 years when environmental competitive advantage changes. Also the logistics of implementing such would be a chaos. Robotics, chemistry and coding is shoved to rural kids now because a rural brain is equally capable of coding and they will never know that until they get a chance, if they wait until university it will be too late. The best people in any field start as young as possible I think you are right, but you're not being practical. Or maybe tell us how would you implement this with institutions we have. Emotional intelligence and resilience are things that life will teach you anyway no matter where come from. Can't we try to do both at least? Sometimes we bash things just because they are old without thinking why are they working

In the U K, when I was younger we had 11+ in grade 7 and from there you either went to high school( for the academic) or a junior high ( more suited for arts etc) my siblings went to the high school and I went to jnr high.

Nobody understands children well because of how much Early Childhood Development is underrated in this country. ECD programs are not taken seriously and they share very important information about human development at an early stage. Maybe we should start there. The sooner the better.

True, but I never learn coding in the USA because I'm from the South Bronx. Only the suburbs with high taxes base can get all the tools and classes to thrive. In the hood, the funding tends not to be there as much.

Whether you are wrong or right is not the point. Stimulation of discussions around this sacred cow called Formal education is very important.

I agree with you 100%.. on the flip side... I also feel that every province should have setup a government funded boarding school in every province and employed the best teachers and had the best facilities, where ONLY the elite academic black students from that province qualify to attend, so accademic talent does not fall through the cracks.. This should have been set up 20+ years ago to undo the apartheid legacy, that way 800-900 of the brightest black students can matriculate with a top high school education EVERY YEAR (as opposed to the handful of privilaged black kids that come through private and ex model c.) and then put them through Uni.. These kids would be the leaders of the future. It would have had a much bigger effect on the country than the way BEE was handled. We would have competence in numbers to build this country.
