I tried on the blue dial at the AD once and was blown away by how nice that watch really is. That salmon dial is something else too, that would be my pick in 38mm.
Very underrated watch in many ways. Beautiful on wrist and feels like silk. I own the 38mm silver dial and could not be happier. Yes, it looks a bit retro but when does retro go out of style?
I have the 41mm blue face with diamonds and love it. Although I don't usually go for the 'blingy' option the small diamonds really improve the dial imho - overcoming the overly busy roman numerals and improving the symmetry.
I have a 38 in blue, got it in an ebay auction for a discount, and its worth every penny. Looks sharp, fits perfect, very confortable and love the retro vibe.
I have two of them. 38mm blue dial and 41mm steel and gold (black). I will say they are my favorite and most versatile watches in the collection along with seamaster 300 and datejust 41mm.
My wife and I got matching royals with the salmon dial for our anniversary. I don't believe there's better option at this price point. We absolutly love them, they look amazing together. We got 41 and 34 mm.
I literally bought the day date royal blue dial two weeks ago. It’s such an amazing watch up front. It was intended for the occasion but has now replaced my PRX 35mm powermatic as my daily driver. It really is beautiful to the eyes.
@@palfor0 I have kind of small wrists. 6.5 - 7 also. Although I have the 41, it looks good and wears well. Slightly top heavy but a non-issue. I think a 38 would be perfect for your wrist size. But day date only comes with 41mm. If I’m not mistaken all sizes below are only date.
@@aaronzx10rin terms of looks, the PRX just looks way more expensive than the price is. The way the Roman numerals glint in the light, as well as the bracelet shimmer, is just top class. The Royale stands out too. The 41mm is a really bold looking watch, and I think there are a few other watches in that price range from other brands that do the same thing. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a gem. But between the two I think PRX is way more watch than what you’re paying.
Damn I’m also wearing my PRX 35mm, thinking about getting the Tudor date day. I’m worried about the size since this is only available in 41mm. I tried on the PRX 40mm and it looks huge on my wrist.
There were three reasons I bought this watch about 1.5 years ago. In order, they are (1) I liked it, (2) barely anyone else had it, (3) I wanted to establish a "relationship" with my local AD for a Rolex (I bought a few others, too, this was just part of it). I love this watch. Great value. I've seen the same SW-200 in many other more expensive watches, but I'm willing to bet they didn't do as good of a job as Tudor did when putting it into their watch.
Bought this piece in 41mm with black dial before summer last year. It has been my beloved everyday watch ever since and it runs within +-2 variation for 1 year straight until it went out of cosc spec did I send in for servicing and just had it back and it’s accurate again
I have the 41mm day date silver dial love it it’s my party/dress watch it’s one of them watches what makes me feel fancy and happy when I wear it that’s why got it. It just did it for me when I seen it. do wish they did the day date in a smaller size as well though
Please take this down to keep this gem secret lol, I have the silver dial version and it’s my favorite, it gets me an insane amount of compliments especially at watch stores cause they’ve never seen it, it’s so lowkey but stands out enough to turn heads still
Same! I was in Milan for fashion week a couple years ago and I got several questions about my silver and silver day date. I get asked about this watch more than any other I own.
I've had a Tudor Royal Date 41mm blue dial for a year and a half and I'm in love! It's my daily. I wanted to buy a Tudor and when I saw the Royal in pictures it didn't catch my eye. That changed when I saw it in person! The pictures don't do it justice
My wife has the salmon dial in 34mm and I will venture to say that it leans more into the dress category than sport, despite its integrated bracelet design. Great watch and highly underrated, in my opinion.
Used to be a Royal 38mm user: - The design is amazing - The Form factor is amazing - The dial is amazing -THE CLASP IS REALLY REALLY REALLY BAD!! IT NEVER FITS ME ... Have to sell it :(!
that clasp is my only gripe too. they really needed to include half-links and a butterfly would have been better. i had success removing links from the the 6 o clock side and got a pretty good fit now. but man, i wish i could replace the clasp with a knockoff oysterflex or something
I had heard others mention the clasp... I am looking at 38mm. I'm 7.25" and prefer classic case sizes. May I ask - what wrist size are you trying to fit?
Teddy, you are a gentleman and scholar - a proprietor of always quality content. This is so bizarre; I have been fawning over the Royal the last few days after finally discovering it. Great points regarding its strange positioning - it feels just weird enough for me!
Ordered the black and gold date day version from my local AD......I cant look at another dive watch but wanted a Tudor....this one looks to have a touch more class......very sharp.
I just purchased the salmon 41mm day date with diamonds.....its pefrct style and i get compliments on it quite often. Had too many diver watches so opted for something like my grand Seiko. This was it!
I actually bought the 41mm gold with brown face with the day and date 2 days ago. I went in wanting to buy the Tudor Bronze or the chrono S&G and when I put this on my wrist it just looked so much better. Plus having the functionality of a the day and date won me over. Im chuffed with it.
It’s a stunning watch! The blue dial of my 38mm really pops and goes with both casual and formal attire. It’s also one of the few watches in my collection that gets genuine affection from non-watch aficionados. A hugely underrated watch, and that’s one of the reasons I love owning it.
Stunning watch and so under the radar, which to me makes it even more special. I got the 41mm twotone gold and black combo and its even cooler than salmon or blue stainless steel variants. It just pops, you have to see it in person though, videos and generic pics don't do it justice. Also the 41 mm variants have the daydate complication for which on a rolex youll pay 10 times more. Moonphasing it for a month now and i think its my best watch purchase so far. The biggest negative would be no microadjusts at all so if your fit is somewhere in the middle of a link, youre stuck with a loose or tight watch. SW200 is a workhorse and inhouse is overrated, ill be laughing with joy when the service time comes.
I think that watch would look absolutely wonderful in a purple dial. I don't know why , if it's the Roman numerals , the bezel or the bracelet , but I just feel it would fit and look gorgeous with purple... and there is the name ... since purple is the color of royalty.
I have the black 38. Enjoyed working with the AD. Later he called and offered me a Submariner date & I got that for my son. My town only has one Rolex/Tudor shop & they are first rate vendors and follow up with service as needed.
I've got the black dial 41mm and it's amazing. Underrated but still gets a lot of compliments. Movement might not be impressive for the cost, but it's the most accurate automatic that I've had (coming from Seikos and Tissots). Attention to detail and the fit and finish are perfect. It's my grail watch and I don't see any point in buying a more expensive watch.
I have a 41mm with the diamond dial. I love the watch. Bought a bb bronze afterwards. I still love wearing the Royal more. Love the style and how slim the case is.
Regardless of the movement, I bought the 41mm day/date version for $1900 new and it’s an Awesome watch for that price point. I actually hope it does not become popular because I rarely see anyone else wearing them.
Recently got the 38 silver dial. It's great. The body is a homage to oyster quartz, and the unusual bezel is a nod to the 1959 Rolex. I love those historical winks. The applied romans have a lot of sparkle and are subtle. Build quality is top quality. The vibe is a playful mix of maximalist (the wonderfully blingy bezel and numerals) minimalist (the sleek brushed case and bracelet with polished sides, the lack of face text). It is a sturdy office-to-dinner-to-playtime daily wearer, but it's just a little more playful and fancier. Mine has been keeping great time -- +/- one second, for real. Improvements for the future: micro adjustments, better lume (current lume is useless), rounded crystal. All the detractors make me love it more because it means that I will see it on fewer wrists :)
I have the 41mm diamond. This watch is so well made, it feels like a Rolex from the 70s. It is different and that's why I love it. It uses a lot of design cues from the 70s Tudor Ranger II. I know people hate the Selita, but if Tudor put in house with this ans perhaps some fancier dials- it would be in direct competition with 8 to 10k watches
I got a 38 mm Royal with a silver dial. It is a great watch; the bezel is stunning, especially in sunlight. In my opinion, it is outstanding and has no similarities to other watches. I would not compare it to an Oysterquartz or AP, as some people do, just because it has an integrated bracelet. The clasp is awesomely small, almost like a hidden clasp. The only downside is that there is no small adjustment option and no half links. But other than that, it is a great watch to wear daily. I would not give it away. Edit: I don't have the biggest wrist, so I can't wear the 41mm, I would love the 38 mm with the Day-Function to. A 38mm Day-date Version would be the only thing that would make me change my royal.
Got my hands on a 41mm two tone black dial, what a beauty. Great piece for the price point. I was looking for a Gerald Genta style piece. Tudor to me offered the most bank for dollar on this model. Well done! Only issue I have and nothing major at all, they could’ve made a model without the Roman numerals hour markers.
Got the Royal Blue 38mm and love it and in artificial light looks so good. Few people thought it was a Omega Constellation from a distance but got this because it fits great under the shirt cuff and looks stylish.
I bought a watch from AMZWATCH lightly used for my last milestone birthday. Don't wear it as much as it deserves, but not afraid to, either. It's stunning . Good taste, Sir.
I wasn't a believer until I wore one. I find that it actually walks the line between sporty and dressy very well. The bezel feels like Rolex, dial feels clean but refined, and the case and bracelet tie it together with a sporty edge
i have the 38mm blue dial myself! nice dressier piece. clasp i wish was better though, hard to get a great fit. quick tip is the link on the 6 side can be removed by pressing the pins, which helps centering the clasp better
@@sagoamicably6486 hey mate worked it out and it’s finally fixed, your a deadset legend was bugging the hell out of me and watch makers before said nothing they can do
I just bought one, I wanted a black bay or pelagos but I kept being a little too picky about the look, not having options I was looking for in comparison to the other watches I have in my collection. I was looking for a daily driver that I can dress up or down with a classic look. A co worker suggested the royal and immediately loved it and bought it. I must have looked at 100 watches over months and I like to take my time making a decision with each time piece I purchase, like I’ve done with the other 9 watches I have in my collection. This is the only one i looked at in one day and bought it the next, and I am extremely impressed and happy with it. This one is the 41mm with day and date with a blue face. I’ll probably still end up buying a pelagos, but I’m happy with this purchase.
Own this watch for almost 2 years. The way it plays with the light and shines is so captivating. 🔥 One feature that is missed is its versatility, it has a date and screw down crown, that my other dress watches don’t have. Since owning it, has gone up by almost $1000 🤯.
I've owned the two tone day date black dial since the first release, I absolutely love it! my two favorite complications are day and date to be present, I have the diamond version with 3,6,9 romens. I love this watch cause I think it's true to Hans Wilsdorf's vision for Tudor, I really don't intend on spending 20k+ to get the President ever... but this fits the bill for me as afordable luxery option as a working class stiff hehe
after trying a royal 38mm I have decided to go shopping. love the one with the champaign dial but have also seen online that one with a brown dial has arrived. trying to find videos on youtube of how it looks but there are few films that show this in different lighting conditions
I always had my eye on the royal but I bought the prx which really turned me against integrated bracelet watches as that watch was either to big or to tight. May give this another look.
I have the option to purchase the bicolor one with gold face and am torn. I find the numerals to be slightly too much in your face so perhaps I’d prefer the diamond version. It is however 100m waterproof, looks nice and nearly dressy on my 7.5” wrist and the finish is super nice. It’s almost a mix between a president day date and a PRX.
It has really great elements speaking for it and also the price point is nice. But I dont really like the bezel, the numerals and how the date cuts in. I feel like it needs a facelift.
I purchased the 38mm black dial with diamonds. I feel the dial is cleaner and less cluttered. Mine fits fine and I’ve had no issues with the clasp. Just wish it had T fit clasp like my Black Bay 54. It’s a much nicer watch in person.
In photos it looks orange.. When in the store it's a gorgeous rich warm salmon/ Carmel tones. It's really is stunning. Love the engine turned looking bezel. Reminds me of Rolex Air king .
I absolutely love it but I don’t understand why they didn’t do the day date option at 38 mm ?? It’s a mystery they would have sold the double probably and I expected this with this new Tudor models coming last week, I am a bit disappointed
That salmon colored dial is gorgeous. I think most divers are meant to be worn on a more casual basis. Most. Not all. I could definitely see this watch worn with both suit or jeans. Easily. Mostly because of the salmon colored dial. It adds a real elegance to a diver-type watch. It looks like it's hitting above his price point. Quite frankly, I see 007 wearing this watch with a gray flannel suit. It's on my list.
We bought my wife the salmon in a 34mm size I think. It looks way more expensive than it is and she gets lots of compliments on it even from strangers. To be honest I am a bit of a Tudor fan boy but once you see this in person it's hard to deny it's a beautiful watch.
i went to my local Mayors to see them in person. And was absolutely blown away by this exact fact. No picture or video does this watch justice in person.
I like it in theory, but as you eluded to towards the end, it doesn’t feel like it knows what it is. I think the dial and numerals throws it off. Needs a sportier dial.
It does has its unique design and is actually very similar to Tudor previous Classic series look. Black Bay is too famous that Royal is vastly brushed aside by many.
Ι got the two tone silver and gold with the silver bezel 38mm. Man this watch looks classy af, every where I go people ask me about it, 10/10 worth every cent.
I impulsively bought this watch when my AD told me it could be a 6 month wait to receive my Speedmaster back from getting a repair. The quality was surprisingly good for the money, it was far more comfortable than the speedy ever was and I received tons of compliments on it but for whatever reason I had buyers remorse the entire time I wore it. Eventually my speedy was returned and the Tudor went back in the box never to be warm again. A few weeks ago I sold it on eBay for pennys on the dollar.
it seems a great luxury everyday watch, that probably you can wear it for many years, also it looks timeless design as well, I wonder if Omega or baume & mercier or what the competitor in this range price, maybe longines!
In the thumbnail, I thought the bezel was channel set emerald cut black stones... wouldn't be so hard to find a bezel to swap but just gotta match that metal color
Ive been eyeing for this model for couple of months now but still on the fence. I love how it looks tbh but after reading comments and criticism idk whether i should buy it. At my place you could get one of these brand new for around 1.6usd
I think if im going for the salmon look id opt for the Montblanc Heritage, Longines heritage, heck even the Tissot Heritage.... Then in terms of the integrated bracelet at that point, its tough in between Tissot PRX and the MIDO TV
Owned a blue one in 38. Loved how it looked and felt but it was too top heavy. The bracelet links were thin and the watch head was relatively thick, so it would flop all over all day.
follow up here -- I have been considering this as 38. My understanding - it's under 11mm thick. Can you say more about the top-heavy feel? Was the bracelet properly fitted - or any other information you can share about the experience. (I have wondered if it was big and clunky - and was under the impression is isn't). Thx, Bob
They are a great watch I bought 6 of them for my kids and their spouses Xmas morning is gonna be awesome . The 41 day date is a ridiculous value for money in steel and the bi metal version .
@@beerkegaard not at all it was I who felt lucky to get them they are a great value for money . The two I got that are 41mm day date bi metal gold for 2700 is an incredible deal
I really wanted to like this - and the case, the bracelet, even the bezel look great. Nice choice of colours and materials too. But that dial is a dealbreaker: hands from one era, numerals from another, minute track from a third. As a few others have said, adding diamonds actually makes it LESS fussy, which must put the Royal in a category of one.
It seems like the clasp is recurring complaint to name one important reason some don't love it. Does the clasp ever give you trouble?... or maybe this complaint is more about fitting itself and lack of great flexibility in fitting?
I own two Tudor watches: Pelagos 39 and the Black Bay 54. I love Tudor, I don’t like their dress pieces. I want them to bring back their daydate and Datejust Prince watches that everybody loved complete with jubilee bracelets and flutted bezels. And an in-house movement, not a lousy SW200-1. Tudor’s current line of dress pieces simply suck. Simple as. Nough said

The bezel feels like Rolex, dial feels clean but refined, and the case and bracelet tie it together with a sporty edge
a fluted bezel would suit this so much more! such a shame they decided to go with the "different" style one
i have the 38mm blue dial myself! nice dressier piece. clasp i wish was better though, hard to get a great fit. quick tip is the link on the 6 side can be removed by pressing the pins, which helps centering the clasp better
please explain how I can fix as this issue is killing me. watch makers just said nothing they can do as the clasp causes a kink for me in the bracelet
@@Alp3124 on the 6 o clock side, the last link you can remove by pressing like a paperclip into it to remove it
@@sagoamicably6486 hey mate worked it out and it’s finally fixed, your a deadset legend was bugging the hell out of me and watch makers before said nothing they can do
I have a 38mm Blue dial. Very comfy. I don't wear it very often but when I do I enjoy it.. I will wear it to work tmr after warching this..
I like it, especially the steel-gold daydate with the brown dial and roman numerals.
I love mine. I have 4 other Tudors so I have a choice but it's been on my wrist for a month as a daily wear.
I love the look!!!! Plus when you factor in the price?!!? It's a great buy. I'd go for it!
after trying a royal 38mm I have decided to go shopping. love the one with the champaign dial but have also seen online that one with a brown dial has arrived. trying to find videos on youtube of how it looks but there are few films that show this in different lighting conditions
41mm Royal with Day/Date is on my list for sure
I bought the 41mm two tone black dial variant and it has quickly become my favorite watch in my collection! I need to make a video on it soon!
I have a two tone 38mm champagne diamond dial and it’s absolutely gorgeous. A perfect daily wear and can be dressed up easily.
I absolutely love it but I don’t understand why they didn’t do the day date option at 38 mm ?? It’s a mystery they would have sold the double probably and I expected this with this new Tudor models coming last week, I am a bit disappointed
this is personally my favourite tudor watch
I love it and think that it's a beautiful timepiece. Plus at 38mm you can't go wrong.
I would consider this with no date. But with that 3 o'clock date I cant even look at it
My brother got the 41mm with the blue dial. It is beautifull,
I’ve had the 41mm day date blue dial for 1.5years and it still looks amazing to me today.
The main reason I'm not drawn to the Royal apart from the movement is the bezel. It would be interesting to see a smooth bezel option.
100% agree
Bezel is unique and while not for everyones taste i feel like its something thats largely missing in horology nowadays.
I’ve got the salmon 41mm and blue dial 41mm, do people reckon they will be a good long term investment?
I impulsively bought this watch when my AD told me it could be a 6 month wait to receive my Speedmaster back from getting a repair. The quality was surprisingly good for the money, it was far more comfortable than the speedy ever was and I received tons of compliments on it but for whatever reason I had buyers remorse the entire time I wore it. Eventually my speedy was returned and the Tudor went back in the box never to be warm again. A few weeks ago I sold it on eBay for pennys on the dollar.
Sporty dress watch.....great fitting piece......love it.
it seems a great luxury everyday watch, that probably you can wear it for many years, also it looks timeless design as well, I wonder if Omega or baume & mercier or what the competitor in this range price, maybe longines!
Tudor also used Breitling movements before finally making their own
Love this watch. They need to put a cosc movement inside, i may get one in the near future salmon dial 38mm. But all funds are allocated to the 58 GMT
What a beautiful watch I would love to own the Tudor royal with the brown dial 🔥
I love mine but the clasp is to long making a kink in the bracelet for me
In the thumbnail, I thought the bezel was channel set emerald cut black stones... wouldn't be so hard to find a bezel to swap but just gotta match that metal color
Ive been eyeing for this model for couple of months now but still on the fence. I love how it looks tbh but after reading comments and criticism idk whether i should buy it. At my place you could get one of these brand new for around 1.6usd
Love the watch. And exactly like you said, it doesn’t scream HEY, I have a Tudor! It’s just a classy well made watch.
I have a 41mm blue Royal and I love it. Very comfortable and great unique looks. I really like this watch. Definitely keeping it for a while!
Thx, Bob
Can anyone explain me why instead of 4 being displayed: IV it’s IIII ?
It’s called a “watchmakers four.” It’s done for better symmetry with the 8 (viii) on the other side of the dial.
Really enjoying tudor lately.......amazing value.....
They are a great watch I bought 6 of them for my kids and their spouses Xmas morning is gonna be awesome . The 41 day date is a ridiculous value for money in steel and the bi metal version .
Wow your AD loves you for taking those off their hands. Maybe now you can get a Rolex at retail
@@beerkegaard not at all it was I who felt lucky to get them they are a great value for money . The two I got that are 41mm day date bi metal gold for 2700 is an incredible deal
@@beerkegaard I’ve gotten many of the watches I want from my ad all my Rolexes and omegas .
I actually love it especially the Salmon dial. Going to check it out and will share my thoughts after I get a feel of it
I really wanted to like this - and the case, the bracelet, even the bezel look great. Nice choice of colours and materials too. But that dial is a dealbreaker: hands from one era, numerals from another, minute track from a third. As a few others have said, adding diamonds actually makes it LESS fussy, which must put the Royal in a category of one.
What would you choose between this Tudor or a Rado golden horse hyper chrome? I'm trying to decide between the two.
This one no doubt.
I suppose I should try one on wrist.
Forget what other people say. I love the Tudor Royal, and never understood why others didn't.
It seems like the clasp is recurring complaint to name one important reason some don't love it. Does the clasp ever give you trouble?... or maybe this complaint is more about fitting itself and lack of great flexibility in fitting?
Hate the usage of Roman numerals. If it used indices, I would’ve picked one up long ago.
Simple as. Nough said
Sw200 is a top generic movement, much easier and cheaper to fix than inhouse stuff which is highly overrated nowadays, a workhorse.
The watch looks surprisingly good irl. Waiting for mine to arrive, they had to order it because my ad says they are special order watches.
