I had a 2016 Chrysler 300 C that had a really bad odor in the cabin when the car got wet. Changed air filter 3 times, no improvement. Was happy to turn it in at the end of the lease. The '19 Jeep Grand Cherokee is thankfully not having a problem with odor.

I replaced the filter in my 2018 Trail Hawk GC. it was the factory thin papter filter. it was Gray due to dirst and had some filtered junk. I replaced with a K&N Yeah I know a washable 40.00 filter. Seems to be ok. but when the AC is on I still get a wiff of musty dirty every now and then. maybe with compressor kicks in. will monitor

Yeah, so far so good! I think the fresh filter, plus keeping on my family to use the "auto" control (to keep the AC kicking on when needed and help keep the ducts nice and dry) helped!
@@1Brain4Wheels I purchased the K&N prior to seeing your video. it does not have a charcoal filter. But my 2018 I do get a wiff of seems like musty dirty odor. SO I see. Have 32k miles right now

Hi Aubrea, it looks like the 2005’s have the cabin air filter accessible from under the hood. Check out this website, they have some info that’ll help you out :) wkjeeps.com/wk_cabinair.htm
I guess I could have started up the car/AC, but there's not really much to check... as long as the filter enclosure closes back up and everything fits as it was before the change, you've done the install correctly :) Specifically relating to the smell, I could tell by smelling the original filter that was the culprit, although I guess the ducts could have been smelly too, but I would've let you all know if that was the case - so far so good!

Get the filter with activated charcoal. It does a much better job of addressing any odors and lasts longer.
I have a 2016 GC Limited with the Hemi. My wife noticed the musty smell, so I'm changing the cabin filter too :)

Eewwww, you could be right! It definitely seemed more homogenous within the filter than accumulated filth, but either way I’m glad it’s gone!
