@@MotorCityMechanic thanks so much. I didn't even know we had one. I would love to show you a picture of my dirty filter. Obviously a mouse made his house in the filter. It explains the spell. It was so easy. But I hope I can get the door back on

Thank you for this video. It gave me the confidence to change my own filter. I have replaced my cabin air filter twice as the first one was pretty dirty after only a year. I have a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit and I ended up being able to access the filter by just removing the little shelf above my glove box. Inside the box, I have a tray that sits above the box and holds my owner's manual. When I pulled that out I was able to gain access to the air filter. I didn't have to remove the entire door or even the safety cord. Thank you again for making this. I'm sure you saved me a lot of money.

Got my 2011 jeep GC used from a dealer 123.xxx miles, followed your steps. Good news, I did not have to remove the glovebox, very easy, my filter looked very clean although I replaced it, no dirt.
Thanks for the video - FYI for those in RH drive cars, it's exactly the same ie: behind the glovebox - it's not buried under the steering! One note, make sure you don't let go of the string suddenly, or it disappears into the dash! You can get it out with needle nose pliers though.
I agree, the video is extremely helpful. I wish I would have read your "One Note" about the tension string. I let it go too quickly and the entire tension assembly came out. It took an extra 30 minutes to reach the string and put the tension pulley back in the right place. My mistake, but I would encourage people to watch-out as you noted.

Stupid me didn't watch video 1st, #1 glove box retaining rope went behind box opening. Anyway to locate and get it back out? #2 At the back top of the bin, there are two slides opening holding something to the back side. What is it and if it got to the open position, again what the chance it can be found without removing more parts?
If its clogged it would also cause not alot of air to come out the vents.....not just affect the temp of the air. Thanks for asking and make sure to subscribe.
After replacing the cabin air filter for the 5th or so time on my 14 GC Limited 3.6L, the center latch/clip on the blower housing itself broke. It's not whistling or making noise...is it a big deal? Thanks for all the videos.
I think you will be fine.....you still have the 2 outer so its not going anywhere. Thanks for watching the video and dont forget to subscribe and share the videos.
They wanted to charge me like 50 bucks or something for this. the filter itself was 20 and I did it in 5 minutes thanks to your video. Only thing is, I cannot get the plate to snap back into place perfectly on the access hole to the air filter. The left side snaps in, but the right won't. I guess it really isn't a big deal since its behind the glove box and no one will ever see it, but a little frustrating nonetheless.
you can take the headrest off you have to pull the plastic off the back of your seats then there is a yellow plug u simply unplug it then pop the little plastic piece off the post that doesn't have a button to move it up and down would be on left on drivers seat and right on passenger seat if your sitting in the back seat there is a hidden button under the round plastic peace then headrest will come right off... I know this is old but hope it helps
I still don’t get how the air flow would come from the top and go down. I just changed the cabin air filter and put my arrow pointing up . Oh crap guess I have to flip it , thanks.
The blower motor sucks the air into the box.....the air filter is always located in the inlet side of the hvac box before the blower motor so the arrow pointing down is the direction the air is flowing into the box.

I don't know if you look at these comments, but i was searching for something else and saw the Cabin Filter video...thank you, I didn't know mine had one, I'll be swapping it out tomorrow. I have a different question...I have a 2011 Overland, unfortunately at the golf course last Sunday an errant golf shot from some asshat found it's way to my Jeep. It hit dead center right above the windshield and with enough force to blow my interior rear view mirror off the mounting bolt. I see how it goes together, I tried to snap it back on but was unsuccessful. I stopped because I didn't want to break something in there. If you could, would you let me know how to do that or should I just take it to someone? I'm very mechanically inclined btw. Thanks.
I try my best to respond back to at least 90% of all comments one way or another. Usually that type of mirror is held on differenly then what we are use to. It depends on if it has smart beam. If its a smooth metal piece glued to the windshield then it just slides down on it. If its smart beam then the portion glued to the windshield will be a bit more elaborate. In this cause you install the mirror at an angle. What I mean is rotated at about 45' from normal. You place it on the mount at 45' and then twist it until straight. Its something that sometimes has to be shown and hard to describe in words. Thanks for watching the video and make sure to subscribe
Thank you for replying. Yeah, it snaps onto a bolt head that is attached to the windshield. I attempted the rotating like you said because that's how it appeared to need to be installed, but I kept hitting somethig below it that sits in a clip, didn't want to break it. I should just take it to the dealer to be safe. Thank you bud! Subscribed. Are you from Michigan being the Motor City Mechanic? I live in Oakland County.
Actually located in Georgia lol......I know it makes things confusing lol. You may need to remove the plastic trim at the base of the rear view mirror to get it installed and then reinstall the trim. I will have to play around with another one the next time I get the chance .
Thanks again for responding to me regarding the mirror. Yesterday I was able to get it all back together without breaking any of the cameras & stuff inside there. lol. It had to be lined up like a wrench onto the bolt head, about 45 degrees like you said, then carefully turned into place locking it on the bolt head. The plastic beauty cover, which was blown apart with the golf ball impact, snapped back on too...all is fixed. Now to the body shop to fix the roof. haha Thanks for your help bud! PS: I see you use Pennzoil, Love it! We own a couple independent Pennzoil 10 Minute Oil Change Centers, been in the business since 1983, my folks opened their 1st one when I was 12. In addition to my 2011 Overland, I have a 2001 Grand, Straight 6, that I've had since new, it has over 200K miles and never had to open it up for anything. If you do diligent basic maintenance on any vehicle with the proper lubricants, your vehicle will take great care of you.
I completely agree about the oil. It is a great product and I havent seen any issues. Glad that you were able to get reattached. Its one of those you have to do it to understand it.....just a bit hard to explain in words on a computer screen. Well I hope you great success in your business and have a great weekend. Make sure to subscribe. Oh.....quick question. Have your employees come across the missing or broken oil filter bypass valves on the older 3.6 Chrysler engines? Just curious I they know what to look for and that I have been working with Dorman for a simple fix for it.
It depends. I recommend having it inspected around every 10k miles. Interval is around 15k so 10k is a good point to start looking at it. Thanks for watching and make sure to subscribe
@@MotorCityMechanic already done it...lol No tools... It looks like the last time someone did it they didn't connect the cable so I put it back on...lol Like said you made it look so easy and it really was.. :)
The little cord that you disconnected from the glovebox and "set to the side" actually reeled itself into no mans land when I just did this. I heard it wind itself up and watched it disappear, and I can't seem to locate it. For now, I put everything back together, but the glovebox doesn't have the dampened opening now. Any idea how I can find the cord and fetch it back?
❗️WARNING❗️Do not let go of the little cord, secure it by adding weight to it. By letting it go it may retract up where it's impossible to get. I listened to this guy by letting it go and can't find the cord anymore.
+chris kibler Evening, Thanks for watching. I do need to make a video on that procedure. The filter on that vehicle is located behind the center console and not on the passenger side of the dash like in the video. There is a plastic closeout panel on the passenger side of the console under the dash. Once removed you can then see the cabin air filter door that you remove. Its fairly simple. Like I mentioned.....I will work on trying to put a video together in the future for this repair/service. Thanks for the question and make sure to subscribe
Lee Ondrak I will try to remember to get you a video on that the next time I have one in the shop. Thanks for watching and for the request. Make sure to subscribe so you get notifed when a video such as the one you requested are uploaded to this channel
Good video, but you don’t need to remove glove box door, only the pull out plastic tray that holds the manual and sits just above the glove box door. Five minute job. Keep it fresh!
k miller issue I ran into is that there wasn’t enough room to film that tray. All about them camera angles lol. But you are colorectal and appreciate the info and comment. Make sure to subscribe and enjoy the rest of the weekend
Here is a link to a video I did on the third brake lamp that included that spoiler removal. It should be the same procedure. Thanks for asking and for watching. Make sure to subscribe! ruclips.net/video/PtUxJsX1Q-Q/видео.html
Your actually the second person I talked to this weekend that works on them....they built the interiors on the Wranglers. I always feel that things will break on these vehicles and if the customer fells that they arent getting ripped off my some dealers and some repair shops....they understand that and are cool with it. Plus they have the option to fix it themselves with my videos which teachers them things about their vehicles. Other wise if a tech over charges....doesnt fix it right the first or even the second time....the customer starts to get a bad taste in their mouth about their vehicle......that you get the whole...."Ill never buy another Jeep, piece of crap" speach when its the peopl working on its fault the issue isnt taken care of or that they had to get a loan to pay for the jacked up estimate. Thanks again for the comment and make sure to subscribe and keep building them Wranglers! Cant wait to see the new body style and eventually the truck unless they have canned it or going to can the idea.
Some places do charge and some do not as long as you by the filter thru them. None the less you now know and can save money by doing it your self. Thanks for watching and make sure to subscribe
No you cant....unless you buy an aftermarket cabin filter like K&N offers. Otherwise the OEM filter is the same as the engine air filter.....when it gets dirty.....replace. Thanks for the question and make sure to subscribe
On that vehicle it should be the radio itself....not a seperate module. On this vehicle they dont call it that.....just radio. Thanks for the question and make sure to subscribe. Enjoy the weekend!
Oh i will. I was hoping to view maybe a module install as its somewhere in there but can not find info online. I was told it might b behind the glove box. it is not on stereo as i have purchased it also....it is 2014 compass latitude.
Sorry, you replied to a Grand Cherokee video so I assumed that was the vehicle you had. I checked the Compass as well and it doesnt have a seperate module either. The one that does is the Dodge Dart. Yours is the radio alone....all made into one item. Guess me next question is what exactly are you trying to repair or whats the issue?
the u connect quit. gave us some clues it was going and dealership wanted me to pay 400 for stereo and when i got another that did the same they said the telematics is bad and that it is another 400. did say that it doesnt show an existing one and that it didnt come with one...but I was able to buy another telematics and dont show where it goes. and that is the only thing that doesnt work no matter if i try 3 stereos
This vehicle has a module called the "hands free module".....thats the one that handles the u-connect phone features. That module is located behind the glove box. The glove box needs to be removed and then the module is on the right side. I dont have a video on the glove box removal. It appears all you have to do it squeeze in on the side of the glove box to release the catches and then pull it out. Then reach in on the right side and there is a black rectangle shaped module attached to the metal dash frame.

Now to the body shop to fix the roof. haha
Thanks for your help bud!
Great video...thank you. How often should this filter be changed?
It depends. I recommend having it inspected around every 10k miles. Interval is around 15k so 10k is a good point to start looking at it. Thanks for watching and make sure to subscribe

@@sleeper5815 Appreciate the update Francis....job well done.
You for got the way to put all back together
The little cord that you disconnected from the glovebox and "set to the side" actually reeled itself into no mans land when I just did this. I heard it wind itself up and watched it disappear, and I can't seem to locate it. For now, I put everything back together, but the glovebox doesn't have the dampened opening now. Any idea how I can find the cord and fetch it back?
❗️WARNING❗️Do not let go of the little cord, secure it by adding weight to it. By letting it go it may retract up where it's impossible to get. I listened to this guy by letting it go and can't find the cord anymore.
How do you Change a 2014-16 Cherokee cabin air filter? Since they come with knee airbags

MotorCity Mechanic thanks buddy. Excellent videos. I build wranglers in toledo. Your videos are great for keeping ppl buying American products.

Can i clean filter in air then repeat use it
No you cant....unless you buy an aftermarket cabin filter like K&N offers. Otherwise the OEM filter is the same as the engine air filter.....when it gets dirty.....replace. Thanks for the question and make sure to subscribe
Appreciate the info. 👍🏾

do you know where the telematics module is for 2014?
