"I Don't Give A Rat's A** About The Amendment Right Now"

  • In this installment , we visited this USPS location to test our rights to record within publicly accessible areas inside as well as outside on the property. Most of the people we encountered were curious & asking why we were recording. We had a cam-back standoff with an individual who called us weird for recording. I guess that makes him weird as well since he decided to record us 🤣
Another encounter was from a woman who thought what we were doing was ridiculous & left. Moments later, she returned to go complain to the postal supervisor regarding our recording, so we went inside the lobby for a better vantage point. I asked her if she was okay with her government recording her with the post office cameras, not knowing where the footage might end up. I then asked her if she was familiar with the First Amendment & she replied that she didn't give a rat's a** about the amendment. I told her she should because what we were doing was protected under freedom of press. She then quickly left the building not before telling us to go f*** ourselves. I wished Ms. Piss Poor Attitude a better day than she was having. Minutes later, the postal supervisor came out to the service counter & acknowledged that we have to right to record freely inside the building. Kudos to the supervisor & his employees for respecting our First Amendment Rights to document freely in public.
Thanks for watching & please feel free to chime in below in the comment section with your thoughts on this video!

The woman in blue didn't want to be on camera, so she puts herself on camera by telling you this, then she goes out and comes back to where the cameras are!! Americans often ask why the rest of the world doesn't like them. It's because of people like this. Hand on heart for the National Anthem, we're the best country in the world, we have freedoms that no one else has but a lot of the citizens haven't got a clue about the first amendment, which is the law of the land! It's mind blowing.

I wish our educational system did a better job teaching civics. Apparently very few know SCOTUS public forum doctrine wherein USPS facilities would be considered nonpublic forums, which means that the tenant agency can restrict photography. That right to prohibit photography is reiterated in Poster 7 & the CFR. Poster 7 extends a privilege to the press to record within the parameters set by USPS. It is not a constitutional right. Poster 7 also provides for the postmaster to restrict photography "which otherwise tends to impede or disturb the public or employees in the performance of their duties, or which otherwise impedes or disturbs the general public in transacting business or obtaining the services provided on Postal Service property."

@@werenotfree6412 You need to take that up with USPS since those are their words, not mine. I am sure that USPS went through a legal review before publishing Poster 7.
However, SCOTUS words are very clear.
“The [government] workplace, like any place of employment, exists to accomplish the business of the employer. 'The Government, as an employer, must have wide discretion and control over the management of its personnel and internal affairs. It follows that the Government has the right to exercise control over access to the [government] workplace in order to avoid interruptions to the performance of the duties of its employees.” UNC School of Govt Cornelius v. NAACP Leg. Def. Fund
Courts have used this ruling to validate the tenant agency rights to prohibit photography.
I think that there is so much misinformation generated by auditors that actual court rulings are needed to clarify.

It is not complicated. As long as you comply with the rules established on Poster 7 you are free to record. If the Postmaster determines that it impacts operations, he can order you to stop. If you do not, you can be trespassed.

I wouldn't exactly label postal workers "heroes" by any stretch of the imagination, especially considering the shit service I always get from the post office.
It seems my packages are always late, the boxes torn open and sometimes never arrive.
I submit complaints but nothing ever happens to rectify the problem.
That is what happens with unionized government "workers".

The thing people are not getting is anyone can request the footage from the post office security cameras which means you recording is no different than the post office recording.
It can all end up in the same place.
The video from the post office is a public record subject to FOIA laws.
They think because it is the government the video is secure and no one else will see it.

Our city police department has purchased a few of those tall camera towers. They let private business use them which I find odd. Stranger still is people don't seem bothered by the government watching them but a few people are a problem. The laws (and lack thereof) that allow them to watch us allows us to watch them.

@@corralescoyote yes I know about service dogs but the only ones allowed in a government building are those for the blind and I believe they have to have a service dog vest as well. The reason why they don’t want dogs in government buildings is because of sanitation ( dogs pee) and no one wants to clean it up or step in it.
