So good to see someone tie the PROPER Snell/Snood. Not the fake/easy versions. This is the pure one - For those of us in Australia and New Zealand - this is THE knot to use bar none other for fishing for Blackfish/Luderick or Parore...... The reason it is used ( and traditionally you DO NOT tie through the ete, just along the shank - reason why is so that when you get a "take" and see your float go down - then when you "strike" the hook "pulls" straight up, instead of diagonal and then up. Most seasoned Blackfisherman will understand and know this. Also for Blackfish - tying a Snell " hides the knot" - believe me.....Blackfish are super smart and very picky at what they will ingest.....The traditional Blackfish hooks back in the day size 8-12 had a flattened eye, they were made to tie snell's - the had no loop/eye - just a flattened piece of metal.
To me this snell makes the most sense, seen so many others where the line crosses atop the wraps, seems less secure than having it underneath. Thanks for posting all the great angles, makes a lot more sense to me to simply learn the best knots, once you learn then none are that difficult, even something like the FG knot.
Great method with a fairly steep learning curve. I finally got it but it took a lot of try’s. Best tutorial I’ve seen on this knot. Thank you for creating and posting it.
I believe I’ve watched every video there is on tying the snell knot and this is by far the best…I like it because the main line and the tag end are under the wraps…there’s absolutely no way it can slip this way…this is the only way I’ll tie the snell knot…absolutely the best way and the instruction video is absolutely the best!!!!!
Great video. My father taught me this method over 70 years ago. I could tie it in the dark. He called it snoozing a hook. I believe it is the traditional method here in Australia and is the only knot for #12 blackfish hooks with a flattened end.
Thank you sir,the best knot, and superb instructions.i finally found how to tye a real snell knot.after a bit of failures,a slower and more deliberate attempts,i finally got it.finger manipulation is the key.Great Video
Here is a huge round of applause. You displayed superb knowledge and shared it in an exemplary manner of execution. My fishing hat is typed to you fir a great educational video. Thank you.
Finally, somebody who knows how to tie a real snell knot. Nice job on the video. Note: There is an easy version of the same knot if you have access to both ends of your line, and your leader isn't too long.
This is what I’ve been looking for! I knew that there was a way to tie a true snell by using a whip finish technique, but I wasn’t able to figure it out myself. I lack some dexterity in my hands & fingers so I hold the hook in a fly tying vise, but the way you wind the line around the hook still works great! Thanks!
Proper snell/snooze. All the others don't look neat. Tag and main line wrapped under the windings. Using it for years. Tried to find it for ages to teach my son🤠🇦🇺👍
Great knot. I have been using it for years. He never let down. Small hooks - big hooks, thin leader - thick leader; it always works well. 👍🐬🤞 No one seemed to use it except me - I’m happy because I just denied it. 🤣🤣🤣
already have caught a 30# Blue Cat off of these (going to try to get a 60#+ next year). ruclips.net/user/postUgkxzXmlErSqVAEGWFEKO530BvTqFDw53QW3 Definitely very strong, and sharp. Additionally, the gap is wide enough to actually hook a fish (not always the case with circle hooks). I purchased the 8/0, but probably should have got the 9/0 (they seem slightly smaller than other 8/0 hooks). Additionally, having the point in-line helps if you drift fish. I have yet to get a serious snag with one of these hooks.
How many times are you actually going to wrap it? What you do in the video and what you show as the finished knot have completely different amounts. It looks like about 5 in the tutorial but 10 in the finished knot
Sorry but if anyone can’t get it by watching this video they probably never will…don’t mean any disrespect but it’s pretty straight forward!!!! And an excellent video.

Ain’t it a bit racist that y’all tryin’ to catch the brother fish?
You sir have the absolute best video on snelling a hook…EXCELLENT!!!!!!!

I love these hooks have been using them since 2001 and would not change to any other they are razor sharp and this package was an amazing deal.

You can use one finger with the same method. It's easier to tie the knot with one finger and you can figure it out easily.
Gooooood viryi dooooood. Thank you, my fisherman friend. You are skilled in fishing techniques🐟🐟..

Я когда то, в кажется в рыболовном журнале, встречал этот узел под названием "японский узел", но у вас иное название. Какое из них правильное?
thanks a lot of
Well done. It’s a joy to see an excellent presentation especially when set to good acoustic music.

8 wraps are demonstrated. 7+ is a good general rule but it varies depending on line diameter. Lighter lines should have more wraps.
Good 👍
It’s similar to a hand tied whip finish for tying flies.
Better to wrap from the bight towards the eye .. and tighten with the tag end .. stronger .. test it!
Then the tag end would be outside the wraps. It's better to do it this way, in my opinion.
Sangat mudah bang
What is the brand of hook?
Wow
