I ordered this to net the algae in a large pond in our backyard. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxphFK7ETiDP5G4IGsNcg7vbASDp_YfDpI The net is very sturdy and easy to maneuver in the water. The angled edges make it easier to get into the smaller spaces among the rocks. I didn't realize that the front of the net doesn't actually have a frame to it, just the sides do, but it seems to work just fine. The handle extends to various sizes, which is a great feature when I'm in areas that are tight with shrubs at the edges of the pond. I can collapse the handle so it doesn't get stuck in the bushes.
Excellent. For many years I used mainly improved clinch, and it's a good one for most things but sometimes like something different. You make it really easy to follow.
Oh well. It might help, but I've NEVER caught a fish! Caught crayfish though. They said if I'd put one on my hook I might have caught a salmon... Ma caught a small shark before she went Home! I'd like to catch SOMETHING before I leave here! Tried to teach my grandson and all we got was hot! 😅 🙏🙌
Fishing Explained Perfect video. Now I just need to remember them all. Maybe add an FJ and blood knot too. You just tie so well it’s honestly kind of mesmerizing. Lol. Which of the clinch style knots do you like best? I use the palomar, uni and improved clinch. Thanks again!

My dad taught me the regular clinch knot and I'm not sure of the name for the other knot, for hooking sinkers and multiple hooks per line with a loop. He recently passed and I miss him. He loved fishing
Sorry about that man, it must be tough. Hopefully you can teach the same to your children so that they can enjoy fishing with you as much as you did with your father.

Awesome video. I've mainly used the trilene knot since the later 1980's it's a fantastic knot. I'll be trying a couple of these other knots soon. I also put this video on my save list. Thanks for showing, I appreciate it.
Ah! So the knot Daddy(rest his soul) taught me when I was knee-high to a proverbial grasshopper is called a "clinch knot." Only one I've used and I'm 53 now. Lol
Very good video, infornative.i go fishing...ALOT. I mainly use 3 of these knots, but they are all good knots, for different purposes. I've been tying something I believe is called a Turle Knot for over fifty years and it's too late to turn back now. I can't recall being disappointed with knot failures over the decades though I've had line-breakage associated with bluefish and stripers slashing through my line; even braided line more recently. Once, in 1988, I was experimenting with 2 lb. test monofilament when a large rainbow trout hit my spinning lure, a #2 Blue Fox Vibrax, while I was fishing an eddy near a bridge-footing in upstate Pennsylvania. The trout put an instant strain on the line which even overrode my drag setting. The line snapped and it sounded like someone had fired a .22 right next to my ear. That 2 lb. test experiment ended right then and there.
That knot is more well known in the fly fishing community if my memory serves me correctly. I enjoyed reading your story. I thing every long-time fisherman has some stories of impressive successes and failiures.
@@FishingExplained I probably learned the Turle Knot from my father back in '67 or '68 when my brook trout fishing pursuit was just getting started. I used to tie a #20 Black Gnat fly to the end of my 4 lb. test Berkeley Trilene in those days. Up the line from the fly was a very thin-walled hand-blown glass bobber. The combination would land on the water without much disturbance. I would attempt to catch the bookies sipping flies at the tail ends of long, deep pools. Success, after some practice and many broken bobbers, followed through the years. A number of my fishing triumphs occurred when my father or my brothers were just around the bend and out of sight. One time I was fishing a deep pool using an orange spotted salamander. I threw it upstream into the riffle at the head of a pool and it drifted until it passed in front of a very large cleft in the stream's bedrock. While my father and my younger brother watched an enormous (very big for the particular stream) brook trout shot out from its lair and rolled on the salamander. I saw that flash of the trout's white belly and felt that satisfying, solid tug. I basked in the admiration of my loved ones as I eased that old brookie back into the gin-clear water. Beautiful fish. I can still picture it forty-eight years later.
Memories like that are one of the greatest aspects of fishing. I love hearing about older techniques that get lost through the years. I have fished flies on floats but have never heard of hand blown glass floats. Very cool.
@@FishingExplained Those bobbers were custom orders by one of my father's deer camp friends. Those guys were all-year sportsmen. Deer in the late-fall, spring and fall turkey. Spring turkey rules, back then, dictated that hunters be out of the woods by 11 AM EST. Then, these fellows would go trout fishing. Once, I 'prepped' my father's Mitchell 408 High Speed Ultra Light reel for his trip. When Dad returned he reported that his reel was leaking oil from everywhere except the bail. Good times. The person doing the glass blowing later set-up a booth at our local mall. She could turn out one of those quarter-sized bobbers in about a minute. She deftly would loop over a tiny filament of glass to the main body of the sphere so the line could be tied on. I do not remember what she changed for one bobber but it was not exorbitant. I stopped using the glass bobbers, they were very fragile but very useful, sometime after 1977 or so.
