I made it my mission recently to cancel as many streaming services as I could and go back to collecting resold physical media. The streaming boom taught me that having a small collection of media you love is much better than paying for a plethora of media you will never have time to consume.
I hope that you’ll get to feeling better Maggot Mommy. Take all the time that you need to get rested up so that you can lead your followers who won’t be lost without you🖤
Love these unscripted haul videos. Always such a fun time! Same for your live streams, which I've been loving a lot lately. Thanks for the haul video Kylie! Also hope your hand has been doing okay and I hope you enjoy your trips!!
I confess to having a huge physical media collection, well over 1000 dvds/blurays, mainly because I seem to always want to see a favorite that is not streaming on any service I have. I'd rather buy resold physical copies than spend more money on yet another streaming service for just a few movies.
Great haul. I started collecting VHS and DVDs when I was 15 , I am now 46 and still collecting ! Dark Water is great but the original Japanese version is better !
A Loon is a waterbird. It makes a very recognizable sound that is ALWAYS played in horror movies when people find themselves alone in the wild or lost on a forest (whether loons actually live there or not 😅).
Growing up I had those same Jurassic Park and The Lost World VHS tapes, as well as the first few Land Before Time tapes. I was definitely that dinosaur obsessed kid that watched Jurassic Park when I was way too young.
Oh man I’m so sorry for you. I didn’t get carpal tunnel until 34 or something. And editing really affects it when I edit too. Get well Soon and physical therapy if needed.
29:40 That's hilarious and bizarrely psychic of me. About 30 minutes before watching your video, Kylie, I was quite literally thinking of the song from 'The Fisher King' which features these lyrics: "I love New York in June. How about you? I love a Gershwin tune. How about you?" That's too funny. It's a great movie which I saw in theatres when it was originally released and not ever since, so it would be interesting to revisit it to see if I still liked the movie after all these years. Hopefully you'll enjoy it. :)
9:16 Maybe somebody already mentioned it, but a loon is a kind of aquatic bird found in lake areas of Canada and various regions of the United States. They have a white lower body and a black upper body with white speckle patterns on the body and plumage as well as a distinctive bird call that echoes across lakes, especially enclosed lakes, and their sound makes me automatically think of cottage country. Plus, "loon" is slang for "lunatic", so perhaps the movie is a play on words. ;)
I think it’s the latter but upon looking for the trailer for this video while editing, I found another movie called Loon! Coming out this year about killer birds so I put that on my watchlist
love buffy the vampire slayer (tv series) first watched it at 7 with my sister who is called Buffy lol because my dad was a huge fan. BTVS has been a huge part of my life and im soooo glad u found the Buffy movie!!!! it's awesome, though some parts are a bit random.
Do you have any of your shorts online? Would love to see what you can do. As a fellow film maker I love to see other filmmakers projects. Keep up the great work!
15:50 Damn you! They're called "snapper cases". Hahaha! Just kidding. The first DVD snapper case I ever bought (probably the first DVD too) was 'Logan's Run' for $5 from a local Walmart (or a Woolco before that chain disappeared in Canada). ;)
Observe and Report was not what I was expecting. The character Seth Rogen plays takes himself seriously and it makes it more of a dark comedy. Definitely worth the watch.
Thanks for your shares - yeah I swear at this point , at least the dollar tree has been getting Shudder exclusive horror dvds surplus .., those horror pack exclusives def look like dollar store junk . I love how you express how it could possibly be money laundering 😂🎉I’m dead ☠️☠️☠️
Just sitting here waiting for the Hannibal Lecter deep drive. He is also my favorite villain!! Also I love your physical media collection videos. I re-watch them religiously. Hope your hand feels better soon. Love you Kylie!!!!!
You've probably figured it out by now, but Criterion keeps us fed when it comes to bonus content. Personally I prefer when they give you a booklet instead of a poster, but thankfully the posters still give you something to read on the back and the actual bonus materials on the discs are great.
You have a cool, calm and collected way of presenting. A popular lady! I’m usually fine with DVDs (have many) but definitely on Night of the Living Dead you should notice it looks way better than the dvd. It’s a really nice Criterion edition. All the best
Great selection of Films. I agree about buying dvds then blu rays then 4k Films that's way too costly. It's taking me ages to buy just 4k Films due to having my own place and other stuff coming before Films. I'm hoping to get a nice lot of 4k horror Films ready for October.
I remember thinking John Tucker Must Die was kind of funny when it came out but I haven't seen it since.. I remember loving Contact when I was 13 but I haven't seen it since and don't really remember anything besides Jodie Foster.. The Land Before Time is the first film to ever make me cry lol.. I was 4! It's one of the first films that I was ever obsessed with.. I have the same Dazed and Confused DVD.. the extra features are great! I've actually been rewatching some Criterion Collection films lately.. actually revisited The Virgin Suicides the other night.. also revisited the Criterion editions of The Ice Storm and My Own Private Idaho.. all 3 are incredible, especially The Ice Storm..
Really enjoyed this video and kudos to you for editing it, while in pain. I'm sorry you're dealing with the carpal tunnel. You def found some gems at the thrift stores and people sent you some cool sh!t Yeah, I've been on a CRAZY physical media collection phase, lately and buying as much as I can/find. It's a lot of fun and I'm just amazed to find some of this stuff, as you are. It's literally, a treasure hunt. Couple things I want to mention: I found a copy of the Buffy movie on DVD a few weeks ago, and gave it to a friend. I have never seen it on blu ray though, but apparently, it's out there. I agree, it's not a great movie, but def something fun to watch for the background. I also found a sealed VHS copy of Jurassic Park 3, recently. Who would've thought there's sealed VHS tapes out there still. I don't know if you have the original theatrical cuts of the original Star Wars trilogy on DVD (I think they are laserdisc versions) but I highly recommend seeking those out, as well as collecting the original theatrical trilogy on VHS. I really liked, the original Wrong Turn and thought it was decent watch. The remake is different and has some disturbing stuff in it, but I personally, enjoy the original film, more. But, I'm not saying the new one is bad at all. Anyway, you and your channel ROCKS! Stay spooky!
Amazing physical media update video with awesome pick-ups. I really love and enjoy your movie haul videos because they make happy and keep me entertained!!!
It’s also a total bummer that Ventura thrifting is so expensive now . Grew up In the area and Ventura / Oxnard are thrifting stomping grounds and always have been , but it’s changed a lot .
@@HauntedHippie thats awesome and still glad there are cool dollar finds ! dont mind me im just still salty that i found a copy of From Beyond on vhs and even the thrift wanted 35 lol.. all good - keep thriftin !
I too went on many physical media excavations in my early 20's. I'm 30 now. It was my peace...I called it pop archeology. There was such a wealth of material to be found in resale shops, but now it's dry out here in East TX. It's funny you ended on Dazed. I really want to make a coming of age film. Like, a latter day Lucas. I wonder if High School 2012 could be an engaging setting?
It's like going back in time. I bought that 13th Ghost and Contact when they first came out. Those cases are called Snappers. I ended up with 2000 DVD's after starting collecting in 1998 but have slimmed the collection down quite a bit as I could not afford the space when I started blu ray back in 2009. Some of my favourite horror DVD's have been the Chinese / Korean/Japanese ones. The Japanese Dark Waters is better. I also prefer the Korean version of Mirrors compared to the Kiefer Sutherland version if you have not seen that one.
Such a nice and thoughtful review of what you found recently. Gee, I remember going to swap meets to find stuff. Interesting that you have VHS tapes. So old school. I remember the portable TVs with the Tape player. Some have both by the way. But may not support Blu-ray.
Soul Survivors if you ever want early 00's horror cheese with Eliza Dushku. kind of an Urban Legend(s) energy. as far as Terry Gilliam, please I recommend Tideland.
Thanks for another unscripted haul video Kylie! Sorry for not being that active in the comments and streams the past several days. Been going through a lot and it has been emotionally draining. But watching your videos have helped me. So I appreciate it! Didn't know about your hand so I hope that's doing better. But thanks again for the video. Also have fun on your trips!
I love how this video has three different Kylies all working together. You have mastered time and space with your witchy powers m'lady! Okay, I rented Dark Water in the early 2000's. I was surprised by how much I liked it. It may have been low expectations. Just a heads up. More interestingly is that Dark Water is based on a Japanese horror movie of the same name directed by Hideo Nakata. He directed Ringu! And it's based on a short story called Floating Water by Koji Suzuki, who wrote the Ring books! The Japanese version of Dark Water is on Tubi if you want to compare them. I've been thinking about finally watching that version lately. It looks creepier and grungier than the American version. Last thing, Time Bandits rules! I bought it for $3 bucks on DVD years ago. Fischer King is also very good. It gets sad though. Robin Williams will make you laugh and break your heart. Kinda has horror vibes too.
Okay that makes much more sense to me now for Dark Water. It has a sort of J horror vibe to it. I still have about an hour left of it and it’s not impressing so far
Ik this isn't part of the video but what did u think of talk to me idk if u saw it yet but im hoping to see it soon, but idk if u ever saw this old movie or if ur dad or mom did but it was called the monkeys paw and with how the premise of talk to me is it sorta reminds me of it like the monkeys paw is a object that grants wishes but it comes at a price and if u think about it talk to me is kinda like that as well sorta
It's Gilliam like a fish's gill. One of the great underrated directors. He has such a great filmography and covers a large variety of styles. The Fisher King is brilliant but heartbreaking, Robin Williams is a wonder here but there are no weak links throughout.
@@mykeadelic See it, it's one of the most beautiful but grimy films, with a moment that might break your heart and no I'm not talking about the perhaps a touch too gleeful Robin Williams nude scene. It's pretty much my go to Gilliam. But I am an strange fellow.

Another successful physical media haul Kylie! I also grew up watching parent trap and John tucker lol nice that we have that in common. Plus I also have the original Jurassic park movies on VHS including the third one! Congrats on getting temple of doom to complete your Indy trilogy! Your grandpa would be proud for sure! I also grew up watching the empire of dreams doc many times over lol But what I’m the most jealous of are all those sick criterion’s you got! Barnes and noble does a sale every July and November every year where they sell all their criterion’s for 50% off!! That’s a good deal! Plus I recommend another terry gilliam classic: Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I saw it in high school and loved it! Gilliam is brilliant! I also own a copy or two of NOTLD through horror dvd collections but don’t have it on criterion. And you got your new favorite movie in criterion too! Maybe you can slide that dvd my way so I can finally own it ;) jk sorry my comment is so rambling but I hope you appreciate the unscripted-ness of me lol
Dark Water, the original Japanese version by Hideo Nakata (based on a short story by Koji Suzuki) is definitely in my top 10 horror films. Absolutely love that film. But I've never seen the remake. I was too scared that it would be bad.
dont get the carpal tunnel intervention , go to a chiropractor who has some kind of big eletric pen , he will shove it at the base of your wrist and your finger will move like crazy ! 3 or 4 session and you'll be new
I just caught up on 13 GHOSTS. Found a SCREAM FACTORY copy at FYE. Plus GHOST SHIP. Early 2000s memoirs. Whoop whoop. Lol. You ever see GHOST from 1990?
Hey Kylie, Cult Member #42069 here Loony is short for lunatic. The origins of the lunatic is "affected with periodic insanity dependent on the changes of the moon" That's why there is a moon on the cover. Moon in spanish is also Luna. Ok, I'll see myself out now.

I would love to hear your thoughts on the movie the intruder. It's one of those so bad it's good movies imo 😂
The Parent Trap with Linsey Lohan is a remake ogf a older Parent Trap that's it says up dating a classic duh lol
? Did I say I didn’t know it was a remake
What did you think of both Barbie & Oppenheimer?
Omg I never realized Monty Python was Terry Gillam that’s amazing. I have seen that one!
Dark Water, the original Japanese version by Hideo Nakata (based on a short story by Koji Suzuki) is definitely in my top 10 horror films. Absolutely love that film. But I've never seen the remake. I was too scared that it would be bad.
It’s not as good but I still liked it lol
the original Dark Water is worth a watch as well!
Spree was at the Dollar Tree not too long ago on blu with a slip cover
Always amazing content either way
dont get the carpal tunnel intervention , go to a chiropractor who has some kind of big eletric pen , he will shove it at the base of your wrist and your finger will move like crazy ! 3 or 4 session and you'll be new
Chiropractors are hacks
I just caught up on 13 GHOSTS. Found a SCREAM FACTORY copy at FYE. Plus GHOST SHIP. Early 2000s memoirs. Whoop whoop. Lol. You ever see GHOST from 1990?
Hey Kylie,
Cult Member #42069 here
Loony is short for lunatic. The origins of the lunatic is "affected with periodic insanity dependent on the changes of the moon"
That's why there is a moon on the cover.
Moon in spanish is also Luna.
Ok, I'll see myself out now.
I just didn’t want to make that assumption because it feels like a pretty regressive title but you’re definitely right
I am the same still collect dvds and even VHS as well as blu rays . only stream free film channels so when I find a good horror film I can hunt it down on dvd or blu ray .
Heyy sorry I missed the live stream last night I was extremely busy yesterday 😊
no worries! hope to see ya on the next one
Wow💫✨️🎬🤟

You should get an intern from a nearby college.
Not really into exploiting college kids. I was one just a few years ago
@@HauntedHippie I can understand that. You are the queen, so get a local follower to type for you. LOL
John Tucker Must Die needs a rerelease blu-ray.... I don't wanna pay $25 for a used copy
Observe and Report is not great. One of a very few rare misses for Seth Rogen in my opinion.
Intruder was an ok movie.
Have you considered making more videos with a drawn on mustache?
Thing of beauty young person and physical media 💿👌🎥 🍿
Wow😍
Horror wack is a waste of money. I find those movies at the dollar tree 😂😂😂
Minneapolis is only 8h drive from Winnipeg … 😜 just sayin LOL
This is what stops me from signing up with Horror Pack. The originals are always low budget crap.
So my advice is sound!!
The craft 2 is bad, one orginal have a cameo
Observe and Report is a fucked up movie. It's really cynical and not really the comedy movie it was marketed as.
Oh weird! Ok haha
