The CJRB Pyrite is a slim, lightweight, button lock knife that has been getting a ton of attention lately. Even some calling it the "knife of the year". Today I unbox and give my initial review on the CJRB Pyrite. For under $50, I can see why this budget button lock knife is getting talked about everywhere.

Your 'joy' with getting to know a new knife is ahh.. charming. That's why we all fell down the Knife Rabbit Hole! ✨😺
awesome knife im waiting on my pre ordered steel version of the pyrite on knife center
Excellent video. I'm waiting for mine. Cheers!!
Thanks! Hope you enjoy it!
I just got mine today. I chose the all stainless version. Classy! The first thing I did is take it apart and clean out the manufacturing debris and lube. When I reassembled it, I tightened the pivot a little extra so that it is a little more deliberate, not so free. I`m sure it will break in better over time. Cool knife. T8 hardware would be nice. Good review.
I got the stainless version too! I have the PVD coating on my first one. I just wanted to see if the coating hindered the actual performance. Both knives are flawless........
Love the pyrite 👍🏼
I just got mine in gray g10 and I like it a lot, yet I don't know why yet... maybe just because it is slim. I'll alternate this one, the Altus and the Original on my daily carry. Cheers!!
I got the Pyrite a few months ago. Best knife I've got in my small inventory. I've enjoyed it so much, I bought another one in a different finish!!!!! The action is so smooth! The blade snaps out and literally drops with the button!! Very nice for the price too......
I'd be sold if they offered different g10 colors than "black" and "blue that isn't actually blue"
Would you mind testing the blade play aka how much the blade moves back and forth when deploid for me
I just got mine in the mail a couple days ago and it has a light detent. I can shake it open. It’s not terrible though… I think the Qc isn’t there
I’m suuuuuuper intrigued by this! Glad to (literally) HEAR a crisp detent from a buttonlock! Simple designs are basically all I buy any more man…I just want a good knife🤷🏼♂️. Is it thinner than the Altus?
Yea at 8:06 I do a quick comparison. That's one of the things I like the most about the Pyrite, it's super thin!
@@Blade-District sorry man, I clearly missed that. I listen to most videos while I drive then go back and watch them.
Thanks! I want a mini :)
Good video brother 👍
Appreciate it! 🙌
I chuckled first time using mine, thumb flicked it and it opened up like nothing I've felt before. Damn near auto feeling
Both good slicers. If you had to say which is the better slicer would you pick the elementum or the pyrite. Nice review. Just subbed.
Thanks! I haven't done any measuring of blade thickness but I just used the Pyrite to cut some cardboard the other day and it sliced so smoothly through it. Would need some more testing with each but i'm leaning towards the Pyrite currently.
Can anyone who has this knife help me out and tell me the diameter of the pin that the blade pivots from? Planning to buy and mod this knife if I can get that info
2.6 oz mine is blue very nice EDC for $ 50
Yes
Detente on my Pyrite loosened up considerably over time.
Mine was loose out the box
I bought into the hype my KC exclusive is being delivered today. Interested to compare it to my Kizer Assassin. That also had a strong detent when I got it.
This knife arrived today and the detent is so tight it’s impossible to thumb roll or reverse flick it open. I’m absolutely disgusted. All I’ve heard about for the past year are these Pyrite’s. But the one I received is defective and has to be returned.
How can a $60 knife leave the facility without even opening??? Blows my mind! I’ll just stick with my Spyderco’s from now on.
This knife was hyped up so ridiculously bad, I sent mine back the day I got it.
how come?
@@GR8RESET It was just another mainstream pocket knife, like most of the 60 I already have. It was too lite. Didn't feel like a quality cutting tool should feel... had almost no detent. Had a considerable amount of trouble launching the blade. Everyone of those guys hyped it up like it was the be-all end-all of the knife world. 'Knife of the Year!", they all said.
@@hounddog21 daaamn thats wild. sounds like a lemon for sure. something like this would just be a beater for me really but if it had all those issues i wouldve sent it back too bro. knife hype is toxic
Oooof opens horrible thx for showing
Just got one. Not impressed, might if got a bad one. Blade was quite dull couldn't slice magazine paper. And one of the pocket screws is missing.... ordered direct from artisan. I emailed them. I already reprofiled the blade to 35 degrees inclusive with a sic and diamond stones on sharp work. It took a good edge quickly. Now if they'll just mail me some screws. But really the knife should of been sharp out of box. Otherwise the mechanics are awesome. I probably shouldn't of fucked with it and just got my money back. But I do like the knife mechanics
