    You can buy 3.5 pyrites for the cost of 1 bugout. CJRB is killing it, and benchmade is TRIPPIN!!!

      Value always matters to me. I can always appreciate a moderately priced knife that delivers like high-end! A lot of Kizers really deliver for less than $200, and sometimes for less than $100, which may be why I have 26 of them… Kizers are very good values, as are CJRBs. Benchmades, which I started out collecting, not so much.

      That Butterfly Tax is killer. I think the Bugout is a $100 knife... but the lowest priced Bugout is around $150. Madness.

    • @yankee2yankee216
      @yankee2yankee216 Год назад

      I agree. I like my Bugouts, but not necessarily more than my Pyrites! Now, my Pyrites include a CF version that cost $200, but the other 2 were $60-$65 each, and one of those has the better action (no button stick). The Bugouts cost about $110-$135. And of course the Pyrites are button locks, the Bugouts Axis locks. I’m not sure which I prefer! Both permit operating the lock without putting fingers in the path of the blade, and both are similarly easy to operate and secure… My Bugouts are both plain-Jane S35V/Grivory (an M390 version is available); I think they’re very boring-looking! The Pyrites are not much different, but I think the shape of the Pyrite is better, i.e. more refined than the Bugout. My BHQ exclusive version of the Pyrite, made with titanium, purple Fat Carbon and S35VN, is by far the best Pyrite, both technically and aesthetically. It doesn’t actually cost more than a mid-range Bugout, and ultimately, it is the better knife. But its a near toss-up. It you don’t mind its more boring appearance, a mid range Bugout is about as good (and a high-end Bugout might be better, technically).
      Personally, my Pyrites (mostly the lesser ones) are my favorites. They are great little knives, and they are CHEAP! I can carry them without (particular) fear of losing them, and I can use them roughly if necessary, knowing that they can be easily replaced if somehow
      damaged. I tend not to carry my more costly knives quite so casually! They, a grey G-10 and the WMK exclusive Gmascus model, red and black, are my go-to EDC knives.

    I love my alt budget version, but I've not been able to tune out the button lock/freeze of the kickstarter version(to be expected with do many versions tried?), but I love it all the same, even though the lock-stick is just beyond silly.

    I put my eyes on the wharncliffe pyrite from WMK. Love that blade shape! Reminds me of my first knife, the Tangram Santa Fe. Can't wait for CJRB to make a S35VN version of it, just like they did with the Feldspar. Hey Jay, isn't the steel handle one too slippery?

    • @yankee2yankee216
      @yankee2yankee216 Год назад

      I don’t know if they have a wharncliffe blade (I didn’t even know that CJRB made a wharncliffe blade for the Pyrite), but Blade Headquarters has a Pyrite exclusive, with Fat Carbon face scale, titanium back and clip, frame lock and S35VN drop point blade, right now (checking, I see that it is OOS again. I am pretty sure CJRB will make more). I just checked WMK and I see what you mean! The frag pattern aluminum handle works really well with the wharncliffe blade! I will get one when they drop, sometime in June.

    Everyone that says AR RPM9 is similar to 9cr hasn't actually cut with one. I've gotten some incredible edge retention from them. Definitely way more then D2. It's only drawback is the toughness though but that's ok if you properly use your knives. I'd rather have RPM9 then S35VN. Not far off in edge retention and way cheaper.

  • @yankee2yankee216

    I got a grey G-10 version, which is perfect, so I got a FatCarbon fiber version (BHQ exclusive), and a red “GMascus” version (WMK exclusive), and guess what? Both have button lock stick, which the gray G-10 version does not have. All are virtually perfect otherwise, but the cheapest, plainest one turned to be the best (functionally)!
