Keto has been a miracle diet for my 5yr old... he's been on it almost 2 yrs now and within 3 days of starting it has stopped 3 of his seizure types! While keto for weight loss is a bit different than keto for epilepsy, it's still the same principle...we're not 100% seizure free, but I thank keto for getting us halfway there...💜💜

Food as medicine, food is medicine. One of the reasons why I even thought about doing keto was because of some of the reports I read on epipileptic seizures being reduced with therapeutic keto diet. I dont have epalepsy but I started digging deeper and now a year and a half later and after about the last 6 months of a poor attempt at eating keto I'm back on the horse and feel better than ever.
@@rebeccacarraway480 I was so torn whether or not to try this diet for him...I remember driving home from the hospital begging God to give me a sign if we shld try this or not...I looked at the car in front of me and the first 3 letters of their license plate were KET... that was our sign! I called my hubby and we strtd the next day...our son was having well over a hundred seizures a day...we were heartbroken...within 3 days he strtd producing ketones and he woke up that morning and all the myoclonic, absence and drop seizures were gone!! I thank God every night and pray for our son's healing...he will beat this...I just know it...

Thanks for getting the message out about how many errors she made. It is so clear that she doesn't know what she is talking about when it comes to keto. What is scary is that she believes, and people will too, that what she is saying is the truth. I am so glad you, others and myself are getting the word out on how satisfying keto and the mistakes in her comments. The main point is anyone eating keto needs to eat it in a healthy way with real natural whole foods.

The Keto diet got rid of my diabetes in a couple of weeks, and I've lost 67 pounds so far. Nothing else has ever worked for me until now. My doctor is amazed and happy.

I've had several health issues that disappeared as a result of moving to a Keto WOE:
1. Gout flareups on my foot (had me in a walking boot for 3 months, couldn't be on my feet for 20 minutes before my feet started hurting)
2. Vertigo (happened at random times throughout the month, dehabilating me from work and general life)
3. Weight loss (struggled to lose before even with diet and exercise)
4. Tonsil stones (those gross things that form in your tonsils)
5. Depression and overall low energy.
6. Digestion issues and upset post gall bladder removal (food moved really fast through my body and required me to be near a restroom within 30 mins after eating)
7. hypoglycemia symtpoms when I would drink alcohol (literally blacking out and fainting after a couple drinks even if I ate beforehand)
I hope someone considering keto WOE finds this helpful. Keto is more than weight loss.
Oh the Gout!!! Haven’t had an attack since right after starting Keto which I read was a possibility. Before Keto, it was at least once a month and I was on two meds to help alleviate and prevent attacks.
No more tonsil stones alone is reason enough to do keto!! They are seriously horrendous! I had mine taken out specifically to prevent tonsil stones.
It's depressing having them.
It's great to know keto helps rid them.
I scoured the internet to find ways to treat and prevent them but found nothing. I knew my "triggers" too.
Come to think of it they were all non-keto foods. Raw carrots, rice, white breads, corn, tortillas, pretty much and grain. Etc..
@@LilyOfTheTower you read my mind. Didn’t know keto helped with this. Yes it’s gross and the doctors where I live didn’t think it was a good enough reason to take out my tonsils. You can imagine the embarrassment! I now look forward to this benefit too.
I've had PCOS for 15 years with insulin resistance. 3 months on Keto and my Insulin levels fell within the normal range for the first time in 15 years. All I did was change over to a keto diet.
When she calls Ketosis I state of emergency, I think she is actually confusing ketosis with ketoacidosis: two different things.
She most likely is, as most people do in ignorance when they just hear "keto" and don't bother doing a little legwork to check their assumption.

I don't think she is. Ketoacidosis is REALLY bad, fatal. She's not that dumb. She is straight up propagandising ketosis, she is intentionally being deceptive.
What she means is that she's the one in a state of emergency, because her bottom line is getting hurt.
She absolutely knows what she's talking about being in the fitness business. Calling it a "state of emergency" makes it sound "scary" to those who aren't aware.
Yup! She is fighting for her livelihood. Been keto since March 2018 lost 60 lbs and feel 10 years younger. That's a good emergency!
After 50 years of dieting every possible diet out there, Keto is the first eating plan that I can sustain, has lowered my appetite and has brought me clarity of mind allowing me to analyze my relationship with food and compulsive over eating. I have lost 50+ in 6 months and have no reason or compulsion to stop. My cholesterol went from 188 to 178, off blood pressure med , off huge doses of Ibuprofen for inflammation and have never felt this good in my life. Better than I did in my 20’s.
Congratulations on your success. I have great success on this "eating plan". Thank you for using the correct terminology. It's not a diet.
4everFreeSpirit I believe there is no one answer or plan for everyone. We all have contributing factors to success. And I say “ eating plan” because for me it is something I don’t see as a means to an end. Before on diets I would do until I lost weight but knew it was temporary. Keto for me has so many more added values and weight loss seems to be an extra plus. Good luck on your health.

I’ve seen it happen twice, an actual personal friend who was a fanatic at running..... he has now been to the Mayo Clinic and was told he as the heart of a 90 year old and the time we went he was in his early 50s. Jillian... watch your words!

I agree, she was about to bring up insulin resistance and caught herself . PS. I have been keto for the last two years and I haven't been able to have another child in almost 11 years. I am now 24 weeks pregnant! I couldn't figure out how all of a sudden, after all these years, I am pregnant. I started researching if keto had any impact and was surprised to learn that it can help with fertility. Now, the only thing I warn people about keto is to be very cautious until they are ready to have children lol.
I was told back in the seventies, by 3 different doctors that I would never have children. Wanted to lose weight for my wedding, so I went on the evil and dangerous Atkins diet. It worked and I looked lovely, but I went back to the proper diet shortly after getting married, because I was pregnant.
Many years past, no more babies, fat and went back to the evil Atkins diet. That baby has 3 children of her own now.
I did not make the connection back then, so spent decades starving myself fat on 1200 low fat calories. Read Good Calories, Bad Calories 8 years ago. Will never go back to low fat starvation again.

I'm Type 2 Diabetic and 5 days ago my blood glucose was 271, after only 5 days it is down to 148! I have NEVER been able to do this on ANY other type of DIET. I was also having trouble with my vision, i currently wear contacts and I noticed, just today that my vision is IMPROVING!!! I consider this a way of life and NOT a Diet anyway. Who fed this info to her and where did they get it? She has no backup or proof. What a hack! You guys are amazing!!!

Just wait until all the health benifits kick in. I had degenerative bone disease in my right foot from where I had broken several bones years before. Every step from morning to night was painful. Was told there was no cure. About 6 months after reading Gary Taubes and changing my diet, I realised my foot did not heart. I can hop on that foot now. One of many health benifits.

I started doing keto when I was diagnosed with lupus. Carbohydrates, especially processed carbs, are actually the things that cause inflammation. So her saying keto causes inflammation is wrong, and from personal experience I can say I feel so much better, in much less pain, than I was before eating 1000 calories of chicken breast, brown rice, and broccoli.
A few years ago I started getting dizzy and having double vision. I would start to pass out but not quite make it. My doctor ran every test under the sun and nothing was wrong with me. This was in Kansas and we moved back to my husband's home state of Indiana. The day we left Kansas my daughter started having to use the bathroom excessively. She had dropped 22lb rapidly. We didn't know what could be wrong with her as we were consuming a vegan lifestyle to try and fix me. What could be better? I was actually getting worse and making my daughter's sick. We rushed her to the ER and it turns out she was in ketoacidosis and is now an insulin-dependent type 2 diabetic. So we go see an endocrinologist the very next day and they proceeded to tell us about this wonderful lifestyle called Keto. I stopped consuming a vegan lifestyle and went straight on to Keto and almost immediately my spells ended. But you never really notice you know? Few months and we decided to have a cheat night and I had my favorite thing on the planet, chocolate donuts. Turns out the sugar I was consuming, especially on the vegan diet, was killing both of us. My husband's liver was in really bad shape and keto within 3 months changed his life. He no longer has a fatty liver. You honestly couldn't pay me to eat another way ever again.
Jill B it’s crazy because I was in pain since I was a kid and doctors ran test after test to no avail. At 31 years old, after going to the doctors since I was a teenager, I was diagnosed. It’s crazy how I thought that feeling of being uncomfortable was normal for so long, and it’s just gone. On top of which, I had adult acne covering my chin. Also gone. My skin is clearer, brighter.. I’ll never go back.
I also have autoimmune disease and the keto diet has helped me so much.
I think she (Jillian) is losing money or feels threatened and that's why she has made the video that is so misleading.
I *used* to like Jillian but her stance on keto has completely turned me off. I also have Lupus and my rheumatologist supports my ketogenic lifestyle completely. My complement activity has gone down tremendously and he has told me I may be able to go off of methotrexate soon.

Negative side affects? Dancing everyday, feeling amazing,8 pack abs never hungry. And kept the weight off going on 2 years. Saving money. Wired 18 hours a day. I was near bed ridden. Only negative is I’m hypersensitive to enriched sugar..then again i dont need or want it anymore so it doesn’t matter.
I’m a5’4 girl pushing almost 180 and working out 4 times a week, weight training and still not losing weight. After I started keto I’m down to 164 lbs feeling better than ever, my family has noticed the difference and I just feel great 👍 almost in one month on keto

I started my keto diet on May 1, 2018. I lost 70 pounds in 6 months, using the keto diet and exercise. As of January 9, 2019 I am fitter and feel better than I ever have in my life. These are real results and results matter. If I felt there was some kind of fantastical methods to lose this weight, I wouldn't feel as though this is sustainable. The keto diet is sustainable. Anyone that looks to Jillian Michaels for advice on anything is doing it wrong. She is a paid mouthpiece. I have said for a good while that if you are fat, 2/3rds of losing weight will be what you eat. Yes, exercise is necessary to be healthy and this helps create a caloric deficit.

@@patmatt975 Keep with the consistency. As much as I hate to use over used ideas for diet and fitness the idea of trusting the process does really apply. Find good sources of keto food information and just apply it to your life. I didn't even think of having what we would call a non-keto cheat meal until I had lost 40 pounds. However, what I find to be one of the benefits of the keto diet is that I don't really feel the urge to venture off the diet.
@@bootyliciousddees2797 This could get long. I dropped all bread, pasta, potatoes and all the traditional known carb. sources. No more fruits other than raspberries and I don't eat those all that much. I found it better to just learn what specific food items fall with in the keto category and proceed accordingly. Avocados, nuts, real cheeses, real butter, chicken thighs, cauliflower, Rao's marinara sauce, almond flour, are just some of the staples in my regime. As for recipes, there is quite a lot of free resources for recipes however, I did purchase the Keto Connect cookbook and this has helped with diversity of dishes. No matter what you eat, you must have a caloric deficit to burn excess fat. Sugar is never good. Even if I have what I call a non-keto cheat meal, its usually not a desert. More like Five Guys burger and fries.
I am 70 years old I have tried every diet around my blood sugar was thru the roof.. Since keto my blood sugar 90 to 125 I love the diet can stay on it ... I watch your videos love them gives me someone on my side.. When people see I lost 40 lbs in 6 months they always ask how but I am only going to say low carbs they hear keto and fight me. If they will listen and learn I will help them.. I helped a young girl she has lost 29 lbs in 2 months she was 305 and could not loose. I think Jillian is loosing money.. Thank you for helping me.
I get a tom cruise/oprah interview vibe from Jillian Michaels
Well let's see. I had multiple chronic conditions like fibromyalgia, stage 2 hypertension, type 2 diabetes, etc. Started keto in August 2018. I'm down 30 pounds, inflammation and pain is down, reduced my meds by over 75%, blood pressure is back to normal with no meds, blood glucose is continually going down and almost back to normal (also with no meds). She has some wild misconceptions. We don't eat butter and bacon all day or eat a ton of calories. There are veggies in keto which are good HEALTHY carbs, there is intermittent fasting so we do have autophagy, and there is also calorie restriction. She also acts like you stay under 20g of net carbs a day forever, which isn't true. There is maintenance keto where you can add in more carbs (again healthy carbs not processed crap). My Dr fully supports keto and is amazed at how my health has turned around. I'll stick with what works for me and my body.

I started Keto when I was diagnosed with Severe Fatty Liver. Now - I don’t drink. I never smoked. I was on a vegetarian diet and got severe Fatty Liver. Not mild. Not moderate, but severe. My stomach had bloated to 60”. I had severe leg cramps every night - not just in my calves, but in my hamstrings. I then required a liver biopsy, which was not fun. You are awake during a liver biopsy. The Dr’s found out I have Hemochromatosis - it is the abnormal storage of iron in my major organs. In my liver, spleen, heart, brain & even my joints. My knees were screaming. So, I saw Dr.Berry explain how to rid myself of Fatty Liver. I was facing a possible liver transplant. Since September 2018 I have lost 53lbs, and my Ferritin (iron in my organs) levels have dropped 500 points. Keto works for me. It may not work for others, but you don’t know until you try.

Loving this! Last doctor's visit after five years of straight keto, perfect blood pressure, perfect cholesterol, EKG perfect, stress test perfect and have lost 100 lbs. Eating this way has taken care of water retention, digestive and inflammation issues I used to take meds for. I eat lots of green veggies, berries, healthy fats and get moderate exercise. My doctor is so amazed at the health benefits she grills me on what i am doing every time I see her. Jillian apparently either doesn't know much about keto or is more concerned about her bottom line than applauding keto for being a great option.
I have been a type 1 diabetic since i was 2 (currently 30) and i had two of my toes amputated in the last two years. My A1c was averaging 9-10 for YEARS.
Since i started Keto about 6 months ago my A1c is on average 6.9-7.2 and my health has never been better. My diabetes is completely under control. all of my blood work is perfect.

I had no problem with weight before I got sick, I ate well, cooked at home, avoided processed sugars and refined grains & deep fried foods too for the most part except for fried okra, zucchini, squash a few times a year. After I got sick I could no longer cook for years so I ate whatever hubby brought home.
Now I am well enough to cook again but it is hard in a wheelchair so Keto was the easiest to manage and I am no longer eating out of boredom. When you don't move much you have to cut calories down to insane levels to lose weight. Eating 1,000 calories a day or less leaves you miserably hungry but it is doable on keto because meat & fat digests slower than carbs.
I don't know what that woman's problem was she sounds like one of those rabid vegans who insists that her way is the only way, I took nutrition in college and I know for a fact that there is no suh thing as a single diet being right for every body.

Another thing that renders exercise useless are those with a high A1C level, you can workout but the muscle does not recover.
On keto you can get those A1C to an area where working out is useful again.

People have made entire careers of telling people that the pinnacle of health is chicken breast, brown rice, and brocolli. High/moderate carb, high protein, low fat. So to now have people reversing type 2 diabetes and PCOS on the exact opposite of that isn't going to sit well. I did the "bro diet" and lost 70lbs and my body composition completely changed. But the one thing that didn't really improve? My type 1 diabetes and my chronic fatigue. Keto immediately stabalized my blood sugars to a level my endocrinologist was absolutely shocked by. I can lose weight following her advise. I can lower my body fat percentage. But I can't stabalize my blood sugars with it. And at the end of the day, as a type 1 diabetic, my a1c over the long term is what will determine my longevity and quality of life. I can't say enough good about keto!

I have finally started Keto and I love it. In three short weeks, I no longer need Tums around 10x a day ( I haven't needed Tums for a while). I am not hungry most of the day. With WW, I was hungry..all….of....the...time. I have been binge watching so many people that have been on Keto for a long time and it made me feel this might be my answer. On WW, I did it for six months...with only an 8.5 lb weight loss. Seriously, I logged everything. I worked out. I also felt tired, foggy and irritable. I feel different and I am sure it will only get better. Thank you for taking time out to do this video.

My friend at work and I are Keto buddies, we talk issues, find answers to questions and share success, failure and recipes. Recently, she encountered someone paying someone to Keto meal plan for them and a personal trainer. Both to the tune of $400 a month! I knew opportunistic people would sell stuff now that Keto went mainstream but damn!

Diabetes goes right back in my family, my great grandmother went blind through it. My grand mother had it & so did my mother, even my father did.
I so wish the keto diet was known back then, because my mum & dad may still be alive. My mother had a stroke & lived for another five years in a care home. Couldn't communicate with us. My father had a bad heart & had half of his foot amputated. Makes me so mad that some people diss the keto way of life.

I know I'm behind on this but, it was clearly evident to me when I watched the video. She has her name and reputation tied into millions of dollars in an industry that Keto is hitting hard. She's clearly being fake here, and she lost every ounce of respect I had for her. I've lost 47lbs in 4 months (September 1st, 2018) with Keto, zero exercise (that's cause of a health issue Im going thru right now). I had to get a psychical done which I have to do yearly for my job. My numbers came back the best they've been in over 10 years! There's more than enough evidence Keto works, she and her business partners are just pissed because now other companies are tapping into the Keto bandwagon and they missed it. So she's out defending her money, I mean business reputation and what she does. Nothing more than that is needed to understand why she did this. What gets me is, when Harvey in the interview says, Ketosis is bad for you. He's not suppose to have a view like that as a host, let her say that. It's like this was 100% paid for advertising by all the health companies out there losing money to Keto. Just insane...

I’m the one who needs to loose a lot of weight, about 50 lbs give or take, im going by what size I’m wearing because looking back at old pictures, 5+ years, I looked great! We also would like to stay on keto long term, basically eventually management keto. Due to some health reasons it’s going to be very hard for me to get excessive, but walking is good. However, I have a medical issue that may not allow me to but maybe 1 or 2 times a week. I’m not sure on that yet, I’ll be trying it this upcoming week. Dancing, I can do that, turn on my radio and dance, even if it’s only 15 mins., it more than I was doing. Work myself up with walking and dancing, only time will tell!

Is she a doctor? Because it was my doctor who advised me to eat low carb. 11:25 "increased inflammation"? My inflammation went DOWN on a low carb diet, especially when I went Zero Carb.

Her doc wanted to shift her from tablets to insulin injections.. i asked to hv 1 egg every morning instead of regular carb bfast.. within 3 mnts, hba1c has reduced from 9.5 to 7.5.. no other change in diet or exercise.. doc is in all praise for her now.. we didn’t tell him the reason though 😜

You both know I am a huge believer in keto but I also know that it is not for everybody and I respect anybody’s diet. It's all about what works for you and produces the best results for your lifestyle. I almost never ate vegetables before starting to try low carb and keto, i just ate like rice and mac n cheese on the side of my meat cuz it was easy. I also constantly got the urge to snack throughout the day, and when I would try traditional diets I never felt like I got to eat anything that actually tastes good. Switching to low carb and eventually keto has made my diet much more "balanced" and "common sense".

T1J I eat way more vegetables now on keto than I ever ate when I was obese. I eat veggies with every meal whereas I ate them maybe 3 or 4 times a week before

And I never ate veggies or even paid attention to what I was eating before I started keto I wasn't able to do that with other diets because I was so miserable and they only lasted for 2 days before I was eating a plate of chicken mac n cheese and some french fries. Her business is clearly suffering with the “Keto Hype”. I’ve been on Keto for a month no more migraines, high cholesterol or digestive problems.
I’ve also have not had to exercise and yet I’ve lost 18lbs. To talk about bloating.... Keto has decreased my bloating tremendously and I have not had any negative results. If she was smart she would try to incorporate Keto in to her business.

Every other option out there hasn’t given a complete explanation or full facts of what a ‘diet’ or ‘regimen’ fully entails as much as all the doctors, psychologists, dieticians , and long-term followers of Keto have shared with anyone who will listen. ‘The Game Changers’ and Princess Jillian of the Workout DVD uses words tactfully (dangerously) to make their points. I still have yet to see multiple studies from anyone discrediting Keto and the good it does. 5 months of Keto and I feel SO much better than any other option available out there. Giving up fruit was my best decision yet. Watermelon alone used to be a food group for me. Never again. Thanks Keto Connection (and many others) for passing on the great information.
I am an RN,40 yrs now. Ketosis vs. Ketoacidosis are 2 COMPLETELY different body states. This woman better study a little medicine before she plays an expert.....One state (ketosis) is natural, babies are born in this state, and the 2nd, Ketoacidosis is an emergency when a diabetic has reached an intensely high blood sugar level (impossible on the keto diet) and they do not have insulin enough to use the sugar. This occurs mainly in type1 diabetics. This DOES NOT HAPPEN in a person without severe diabetes. This is apples and oranges. Hope this explanation helps. Love the show....

It sounds like she is very entrenched in that 1990's mindset, plus it is just her style to attack anything that challenges her authority on all things dieting/weight management. Definitely condescending and authoritarian "Know better" approach. She speaks as an "authority" with all the semi-related dietary buzz words (telemeres) meant to baffle and impress the less informed - complete with circular hand gestures - implying only she is familiar with the "kreb cycle" and other mysterious pathways.
"The #1 way to sensitize..." The world might ask why is her success rate SO disappointing just one or two years later?? Jillian Michaels is just doubling down on a system that she is so invested in, that sadly fails about 95% and then blames the poor dieter for THEIR failure!
Her system is non-sustainable (starvation and workout hard) VS people can and DO enjoy a keto diet as a lifestyle change for years. She accidentally dances on the fringes insulin sensitivity with calorie restriction and heavy workouts but with only intermittent moderate success since she doesn't really understand the mechanism. The success she has accidentally tripped over is a result of her clients temporarily losing weight through eating a restricted and healthier diet - and the exercise has also helped. But she blames the exercise and trivializes diet. Without knowing better, she gives the lion's share of credit to incidental details like working out instead of regaining insulin sensitivity through diet.
If KETO wasn't a threat to her vested interest - "Biggest Loser" TV show, workout videos, etc. and her own gravy train, she wouldn't have bothered to attack KETO, so it is just her unintentional validation of KETO!!

I am on Keto to help with knee joint inflammation. One of the nurse caregivers that work with my elderly Mother saw the Jillian Keto rant and told me I needed to get back on whole grains and fruits because Jillian said Keto was harmful. Keto has been the only eating plan that satisfies my hunger without causing hunger pains from the sugar crash of the Standard American Diet (SAD) that sends me into feeling like I have to have a carb satisfying afternoon snack to get me through to supper. I'm often very okay on One Meal A Day (OMAD) and a few days on Intermittent Fasting and filtered water and electrolytes work really well for me too. I'm working on removing my visceral fat stores as I know from scans there is far too much fat around internal organs that needs to get burned. This would greatly improve my mobility and decrease the pain in both knee joints. ~ I'm going to have the caregiver watch this video so she gets the scoop on how biased Ms. Michaels is being.
Tell her to watch the channel "low carb down under" it's a channel where health professionals talk about keto and LCHF diets and the benefits. She may respond more positive6 to listening to fellow healthcare professionals talk on the subject.

@@cheriesullivan1494 Hi Cherie, My knee pain was so bad my doctor ordered an x-ray series of the knee joints both sides finding severely deteriorated medial meniscus in both sides. I could hardly walk. I went on Keto and within a week, I noticed slight changes and 2 weeks after starting I could go shopping for our house groceries and make it around the whole store with minor pain flare-ups. I'm still obese, another factor in knee pain, but I feel I'm headed in the right direction and I do knee joint regeneration exercises presented on RUclips by Dr. John Bergman. I do them every night but without the weights attached to the ankles and have noticed a lot less crunching sounds and feeling like the knee joints are going to give out and cause a fall. I get more confidence every day and I know Keto is a big part of these changes. I hope that helps on your end.

Been on Keto since Dec 11. Decision to start a new to me diet during the holidays and travel was challenging but beats gaining more pounds than if I hadn't. For the first time, I was not craving sugary food! To date lost 10 lbs! My over 50 year old joints dont hurt at much either! That means I can get back into working out.
