    Grateful to Dr Boz and other medical professionals for making MCT oil mainstream and available from so many brands now. MCT oil has made the difference in my elderly mother's health, reversing her dementia, no she wasn't into following a keto diet but the MCT oil still give her those ketones for her brain, so her dementia regressed and she went back to normal at 89!!! ❤❤❤❤❤

    Menopause along with chronic work related stress caused me hypertension, gut issues, muscle spasms and cramps, muscle waisting, swollen belly, scary breathing episodes, sugar cravings, and major depression. I even got bell's palsey where the entire right side of my face was paralyzed. I figured it was from inflammation. Luckly the paralization only lasted 1 month. Doctors just said it was stress and prescribed me anti-depressants. I didn't take the meds because I felt it was something more and decided to do my own research to save my life. After tons of research, I concluded I would need to be on a strict anti-inflammatory diet and supplemented top minerals and vitamins to build my body back up and improve the health of my nervous system. After 2-3 months, my symptoms were gone.

    I was advised when babies were born, to have them on a gluten free diet. They had never eaten wheat, so had a variety of veggies, when they were 2&3 I had to start getting them their own chicken salads at fastfood restaurants because they ate too much of mine. A Grandmother commented on how well I have taught them to like salad...I had NOT, I just gave them salad at home and that was what they knew as food, not chicken nuggets and french fries. But I have helped many children learn what is good brain food and change from SAD diet to keto style...it takes teaching, reminding and some hand holding during the sugar/carb cutting phase, along with trades of bad to better to best.

    We as mothers need to remember that we have the permission and power to think ahead for our kids and feed them what is going to set them up for success and a long and happy life! One little talk about eating brain food and avoiding garbage food, can go a long way. Then slowly help them make choices, throwing out the bad, only buying the good. We don't have to watch helplessly as they chose things that hurt their brains and bodies, we can stand up and teach them what is really the good stuff. Telling teachers and coaches that as a family you are focusing on protein for this season of your child's growth, helps! (Then keep focusing on protein and fat). The world is waiting for us to make a change in our families and lives of others and the future of our world!

    This was a great interview and the first time I have heard someone describe a ratio of ketone to glucose as a meaningful metric. The ratio is a concept is sensible to me as I have wondered how much other factors varying across individuals may influence the outcome of constitutive glucose levels; at the very least it parallels the current advice on lipids, ie targeting ratio of TG to HDL. For someone at home trying to figure out for the first time the most impactful approach to track metabolic health, is the implication then that it makes more sense then to 1. invest in a kit to periodically and actively measure with strips both glucose and ketones, or 2. rather a CGM that provides frequent passive measurements but of glucose only?

    • @nataliajimenez1870
      @nataliajimenez1870 9 месяцев назад +2

      You should do both! The finger strips are cheaper and more reliable than CGMs, but having the CGM for at least a month is valuable to learn how your body reacts to different foods, stress, exercise, lack of sleep, etc

    I have no means to measure blood keton - and no ketons on the market here but I think I might have been producing ketons for a half year now (just do not know how much - but it smells). I lost 6 kg (13 lb) in 7 month but I seem to get stuck here although I only eat 2 x a day fatty meat and vegetable, eggs and nuts - and no carbs extra at all, no fruits except blue berries. For the last 2 month my body weight is not moving. Morning sugar is 5,3 (= 95) ever since and 30 min. after supper 5,5 (=99) . (?) The other most troubling problem is that during that period of time I am not able to get rid of inflammations: in my toe, tendens in my hand, developed golf elbow newly and cant recover for 2 month now, developed joint capsule inflammation in one knee that would not cease. Made lab work for polyarthritis - all numbers are good. I do not uderstand that although you always say this diet should eliminate all body inflamation I just got all kinds since I stopped eating carbs. ???

      When raising ldl within the context of metabolic health (from a ketogenic diet), it is not oxidised or glycated ldl. Therefore , it is not small/ dense ldl particles , which are conducive to cvd . Also, ketogenic dieters eat more Fat , which results in more hdl that helps prevent small/dense ldl particles lodging in artery walls.Higher 'good quality' ldl amounts are also conducive to longevity (living longer). It is worth noting ,however, the importance of eating EITHER a high Fat keto diet OR a high carb diet , and not high Fat with high carb .Also 1 in 500 people are "Lean Mass Hyper Responders" who cannot do a keto diet ,and this emphasises the benefit of starting keto with the assistance of a Health Practitioner . Otherwise , keto/ Carnivore eating methods (practiced correctly) conduce a metabolic State which creates physical and mental health that is far better than when eating a Standard American diet (Processed Food).

    ON THE OTHER HAND adopting a ketogenic diet WITH FASTING (both intermittent & long term) pretty much completely prevents/cures/reverses all of the metabolic diseases, extends life & costs a great deal less…

      It costs you nothing to watch, you don't have to buy anything. The information she provides is invaluable. Thanks for this podcast.
