Over a century ago people used birch bark like we use post cards. They were sent through the mail according to one source I read. I tried it once, but it must have been chewed up by a sorting machine, or lost, or crumbled. It never arrived at its destination. People did what they had to do with the tools at hand. A much more peaceful time.

Hej I agree with you I think we all need to get out in the woods more and relax, get away from all the noise and stress I definitely become a better person when I've been out in the woods take care and have a nice weekend.
I love a sunny day in early winter. Upper 30s is great. Then go back to the cabin and have a fire.

Oooo that looks so fun!!! I know what you mean about sitting still sometimes. I was in Montana as a child, and sometimes nature just takes your breath away. Once, I walked up the valley behind the house, looked up at the pines in the snowy sky, and actually heard them whispering! It was so wonderful, there was nothing to do but just stop and listen to what sounded like God's voice, filled with awe!

Moose has gotten so big, but I love that peace of property.
I like all of them. The rectangular one, the "gypsy" one on wheels, and the A-Frame. The rectangular one is more livable, but this one that is by a stream. Campfires by a babbling brook. Doesn't get any better.

Just an aside…. I live in a small town. Power went out early 2/2/23.
My neighbors are in their 80’s and their house is all electric.
My loan of my buddy heater made their day!
I have learned so much about acknowledging the blessings I have from camp Whipple!

Brooke thank you for allowing me to live the perfect day through you in the mountains covered in forest. I could almost smell the clean air sprinkled with pine. I watched while you built this adorable A frame cabin, it is one of my favorites. My husband and I own a cabin in the mountains of TN. It was secluded until about 6 months ago when a developer came in and built some rental cabins right up on our borderline. I was so sad until I decided to let God take over. He will get us through this. I tell you this because I know you are a believer too. Thank you again Brooke and may God Bless everything you and Dave do.

I enjoy watching your videos of this cabin! Just an observation - raw NY strip bones are fine to give dogs, cooked bones can splinter more easily. I know you're taking good care of da Moose! :)
We live in extreme NE California and most of our roads are rural Forest Service roads. Since watching your videos I look at the forest differently! I see great spots for debris shelters and know I could make one! Of course, I'm 75 and disabled but you never know!
