I've had my razer blade 15 since July and I'm actually typing with it right now... tbh it's really good and I haven't had any problems with it. Maybe I got lucky, but I feel that it's possible that the product is getting smeared by a minority of people having legitimate problems with their razer products, but I've had many many many razer products since 2014 and I haven't had a problem with a single one.

Just got the blade 15. Think I’m gonna have to get it replaced, I’ve got really faint horizontal lines that appears on white backgrounds... I’m about to contact support cause it doesn’t seem normal but at the same time it doesn’t seem like all other normal screen tearing, it’s perfectly even across the entire screen and doesn’t show when you open the majority of apps, I just thought it was some screen resolution effect or something but can’t find any info online so must be a fault in the screen idk. You’ve never noticed this?

To everyone reading all the negative comments about customer service and getting nervous about purchasing one:
Remember that Razer is still relatively new in this niche laptop market, and it's definitely gone through a learning process with both manufacturing and customer service. Many of the people here reporting horror stories are retelling stories from years ago, back when the company was a lot less experienced, so it makes sense that there would be more problems back then and less problems now. Maybe this is true maybe not, but just remember that many of the stories you hear are from then, not now
Also, it almost goes without saying that you rarely hear from satisfied customers, as they aren't frequenting review videos to throw shade due to a bad experience.

Thanks man, planning to get this bad boy. Its seems good for work and for a decent amount of gaming with a not bad power life (most gaming laptops have a short battery life and this one with a 1060 is around 7 hours, which Im impressed). People just want to make their own brand look good and make Razer look shit, razer atm might be bad or over pricey but hey its not a Mac at least. Xd

Razer was nearly there with the advanced version but they should off made it slightly thicker with better thermals I really dont understand manufactueres these days making the laptops so thin that they can't function properly cause of bad thermals. Also ethernet should be on all laptops if not on the side on the bad so you can still make it kinda thin but still I personally think a laptop as thick as a ethernet port is good enough. Also had a finger print reader in the power button.

When will people realize that you can't reduce the value of a laptop by its ratio of performance to price? The Razorblade is a hybrid laptop. It's a cross between a gaming rig and an ultra premium notebook, and you have to judge it by that standard. It's meant to offer high quality external hardware and good battery performance, all while being aesthetically classy and maintaining competence in the gaming department, which is a combination you don't find among gaming PC's too frequently. This is the type of device that's perfect for college gamers (assuming they can afford it). It's not meant for people who keep their laptop on a desk and game 24/7, nor is it a pure productivity machine for accountants. It was never meant to be either of those, and the people who expect it to behave like a pure gaming PC are just coming from the wrong perspective.

The lack of a fingerprint reader for integration with Windows Hello / UAC prompts is frankly criminal for a laptop that seems to be trying to market itself as, at least partly, for professional / creator use. The power button placement and shape is practically screaming for one.
EDIT: Also whilst I understand its gaming roots, as a professional considering this laptop the green logo makes it look far too gamer-like. Could it not be integrated with Chroma?

    • @matthewmessage6624
      @matthewmessage6624 6 лет назад +1

@Brother Ares I understand that, but the cost of a fingerprint reader for a manufacturer is negligible when discussing a laptop in this price bracket. For professionals, some of whom may be mandated to use security features such as Windows Hello for compliance, it can be a big deal.
In my opinion, it is a pretty laughable but perhaps understandable failing from a company that has its roots in gaming.

@@matthewmessage6624 precisely, its irrelevant that some gamers dont care about fingerprings because this is marketing itself as an all in one solution not just for gamers but also for creative professionals, and those are often the people that can afford such laptops. Plus with the integration of Windows hello on nearly everything nowadays, it's a must-have. I mean external usb fingerprint readers are 20$ on amazon, so there's no excuse for manufacturers to not implement one in the power button. This should be the new industry standard.

Hey very nice video. I have a few questions though:
    1. Isn't it better to get the Advanced model since it's thinner? You can always get an Ethernet adapter. These are not expensive. So I guess is the Ethernet adapter worth having a thicker laptop?
    2. How is the vapor chamber on the advanced model better compared to the traditional cooling system of the base model? Are there differences in temps?
    3. If you take the 1080p 60Hz + the Nvidia 1060 max-q advanced model with 256gb SSD doesn't it actually have better battery life compared to the same configuration base model?I mean 65w and 80w battery is a huge difference and since they have the same config it should have better battery life or am I wrong?
    4. I also heard that the 144Hz screen is the better option compared to the 60Hz version? What do you recommend?

By far the biggest issue I have with Razer's options are the lack of display options for low end models. I'd really like a 1440p or 4k panel on the base. I don't really care about refresh rate but in 2019 I'd like to have a high dpi screen (considering I've had one since the 2012 retina MacBook Pro was released). I think 1080p on 13" displays is just fine but it's a bit crunchy looking on a 15". Similarly, I don't mind the HDD option but they really should have a 256/512 SSD option with a larger battery even in this base version. I actually use my laptop like a laptop sometimes and it'd be nice to see. Otherwise this Blade seems just about prefect for me, especially at the sale price of $1399.

I'm a past owner of the 2014 and 2016 models of the Razer Blade. Unlike others (I may be lucky), I didn't get any hardware issues on either device and both laptops ran for a good 2 and half years before performance started throttling, mainly due to thermal issues. The 2014 model was significantly worse, with the fan sounding like a goddamn wind turbine and the keyboard not even working at all after the 2 1/2 year mark.
I ordered the Advanced Version of the Razer Blade 15 last week, ran my own tests, and my reviews are mostly positive. Temps have definitely dropped, performance and form factor is great, and no immediate concerning hardware issues. Just my own experience with RazerBlades.
On the other hand tho, I have had a lot of problems with the quality control of Razer's mice. Razerblades, not so much.

Why is the adobe media encoder test comparing current gen blade to last gen aero 15x (i7700)? I find this misleading, as I'm currently trying to decide between Aero15x and a Blade.
Personally very very interested in long-term review of both the 2018 Blade 15 and the Base version as previous gen (2017) blade units supposedly had a lot of problems with hardware failure, hard to find any concrete info on this.

Blade 15 was one of the notebooks i was thinking to buy. However there are 2 mayor concerns. First Razer has almost non existent dealership in my country (central Europe), besides few gaming peripherals like keyboards, mice or mousepads. The only way to get it is over German Amazon with german keyboard layout (not big concern). And then there is second concern. The Razer company is notoriously known for bad Quality control with lot of RMAs, so if i buy 1700€ expensive notebook without customer support from company notoriously known for deffective products, I would be really stupid. If one of my issues was gone i would definitely buy it.

I recently bought the Razer Blade 15 base model which comes with a 60HZ panel. I want to connect it to a 144hz monitor via HDMI for gaming because it’s my understanding that 144hz makes a big difference in that regard. BUT.. I also want to take my Blade 15 to class, as I am going to college. My main concern is this: when I’m not gaming, and doing more productivity centered activities, (like RUclips, writing essays, etc.) will I notice the difference in 60HZ vs 144hz and grow to hate the panel my $1700 laptop comes with?

Great review as usual. However, there is NOTHING subtle or minimalistic about the Razer logo. Where is the silver logo they showed off earlier this year? Or why can't it just say "RAZER" on the back? This is the same issue MSI used to have until the GS65, when MSI moved to the subtle gold logo.
Edit: this should have had at least a 75 hz (preferably 90 hz) screen and a full size SD card reader for this price.

This model doesn't have lightning specific per key, just in general for the keyboard. This means everything is lit, but not configurable per key individually.
Bleeding means that you can see one keys lightning color somewhat in the keys next to is (it 'bleeds' through)

Hi All, I got my RB 15 base model few days ago from Razer website.
My LED indicator ( the one that is in-front of the laptop, under Intel core logo) doesn't show the correct information.
    - it never glows when the laptop is on.
    - it doesn't glow red when under 10% battery
    - it only glows green when it is turning on.
    - it glows white when on sleep model ( I think this is the only time it works correctly)
I contracted Razer support few times already, re installed the programs, re-set the batter - nothing worked.

I don't think the "longevity" comment you made in the video holds up. I'm looking at one now, and I'm worried how long it will last because of all the reports of failing boards, particularly power circuitry. If I do get one, I'm making sure I get a replacement warranty to cover the many problems it could end up having so I get fast replacement.

I bought a blade 15 144hz fhd 1070max-q 512gb launch. Awesome raw power, great chassis and form factor but horrible panel quality. Sad to say I had to return mine to Razer as it had excessive backlight bleed for a panel replacement. On return, it still had horrible bleed (i never noticed any with MacBooks or Acer ultrabooks, I use both OS) and ended up selling after 4 months. If only there is MacBook Pro 15 + 1070 max-q and Apple quality screen... one can only dream.
Then I went and got a MacBook Pro 15 with Radeon 555x. Don’t bother, GPU is so weak compared to the blade 15.
