I'll be bringing you guys some more videos comparing the Razer Blade 15 and other top thin and light power house laptops. So stay tuned for those coming up! This thing where every youtuber complains about the lack of an SD card slot is really annoying. Yes, you're a RUclipsr and you probably edit a lot of videos, but 99 percent of the target audience don't want or need an SD card slot. On those rare occasions we need to use an SD card, we can use an adapter.
We need after effects, 3Ds Max, Premier Pro 4K video, rendering (Time) comparison between Razer blade, MSI, Dell precision workstations. That would be help for any digital artist, who gonna buy a new laptop for his works. Thank You
I've seen many big names do a 'review' of this laptop, but I felt only your review was an actual run down of this laptop, with (hopefully) honest opinions. So big kudos to you, you've produced better content than the big names. Keep up the great work!
this is how tech reviews should be done, straight and to the point, also comparing the proposed review unit to other similar units in the market, thank you sir 🤘
This is the first time I’ve ever seen this channel and I am so glad that I ran across it... I look forward to watching more of your videos and just subscribed. Keep up the great work! 👍
I don't know much about Pcs/Laptops but I am going to be going to college soon and I'm trying to find a laptop that I can both play games, like Overwatch and Call of Duty to name a couple, but also will perform great for any type of school needs. I've been having a difficult time deciding if I want a Razer or not, and cannot find a good laptop from another manufacturer simply due to my lack of knowledge. Would the new Blade 15 be a good pick or should I find another?
check out digitalstorm.com I just bought an equinox for like $1850.. has pretty much the same internals i-7 8750h with 1070 max q , 512 ssd and 16 GB of ram.
Corey Dickerson i do like the look of the blade tho. The equinox imo looks clearer as being a for gaming but the blade does have a professional kind of look without the keys lit up
the big factor for me was that digital storm let me do the buy now pay later option.. I didnt have 2k to go buy a computer so that was my biggest decision maker but it's worth it but the key lighting has options you can turn off the lighting if you dont like it
but also I'm just not a huge fan of the fact that razor ups their price so much.. their "brand" will cost you an extra couple hundred bucks just because it is a razor
I keep seeing really bad reviews about the Razer blade 15 and how the chargers all die out within 3 months or so, is this really worth buying? My old Asus gaming laptop is way past due and I’m in college looking for nothing fancy but something to do school work and play a few games on
We have had so many reliability issues with Razer laptops. God knows how it's going to be with a 6-Core machine. We ordered one for one of our VR developers, I hope it's better.
The backlight bleed issue a common problem with the 15'' just like it was with the 14''. That and other QA issues (and Razer's notoriously bad tech support when bad units are shipped) make this notebook difficult to recommend. The Aero just objectively beats it for sustained performance (as does the Zephyrus M, though the battery life is a problem with that SKU I still prefer it because of Gsync).
It is unfortunate that their support is so awful because this laptop look nice, until it breaks. I am on a wait list for the Strix SCAR II, even with its comically ugly WASD keys.
I address this at the 10:42 in the video. I recommend if you buy this laptop, get an extended warranty through a trusted 3rd party, such as Bestbuy, HIDEvolution, etc. That way you don't have to deal with Razer directly and issues will be taken care of. And for the back light bleed, its best to buy from a place with a good return policy so you can take it back for a different one if its bad.
GizmoSlipTech Getting a third party extended warranty would help to address the repair/QA issues, but it also makes the value argument for the Blade 15 even worse compared to the Aero or Zephyrus M that are already both cheaper and higher preforming. Adding a third party warranty is adding additional cost (in addition to potentially more shipping cost if you live in a rural area). I like the aesthetics of the blade 15 but that's really all it has going for it.
Alexandr Garlock Yup! Awesome laptop I get compliments all the time for it. Only issue I have is the poor battery life and how hot it gets when playing games
Is it worth waiting for the 4k version? I don't like the backlight bleed and I will use it for photoshop, video editing and playing some games like Dota 2, Overwatch and Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 4
Those games would play fine with 4k screen, and editing photos, etc would be better with 4k screen since more RGB color. So yeah, 4k screen is probably a good choice for you.
Gian Ganaja i think its likely to be the same, but its all about luck rather than an issue with the screen From every review I've seen the bleed is different, some better, so its a lottery which means its definitely worth waiting for the 4k Check out your countries return rules. In the uk you can return for any reason in 14 days or 30 days if you buy from amazon So if you buy one and the bleed is bad, return it for a different one asap
Just correcting one mistake.. XTU does work on this laptop. It has been tested and monitored and there are no issues for those that prefer it over TS. I did 6 tests back to back on Cinebench and here are my scores: 1223, 1217, 1228, 1221, 1214, 1228. Undervolt is -0.135.
That's some great scores. XTU wouldn't work with mine. Would switch from adaptive to static voltages changing the voltages at all. Maybe a driver or different bios than yours... Not sure. I've used XTU on many other laptops no problem.
Very interesting. You may have had a "bad" unit. There has been one Bios update since launch but it was just for USB disconnect issues. I do find that the power limit kicks in too early on this laptop, but I am working with Razer to hopefully fix that with a Bios/EC firmware update.
I purchased the 15" (1060 Max-Q & 144 Hz Best Buy version) a few days ago and no complaints. Best Buy this weekend has dropped the price by $500 and now I'm thinking of going after the Razor Blade Pro. Seeing that you have experience with both of them, would you go after the 2017 Pro over the 2018 15"?
Hi @GizmoSlipTech I am a concept artist who mainly uses the laptop for photoshop to create concept art and just play league of legends sometimes, do you think it will be a good laptop to buy? (also I mainly use an external harddisk to save my artworks as well). looking into getting a slimmer laptop as i have an Alienware R3 17" right now and am planning to upgrade to a more portable and relatively flexible gaming/work laptop for on the go.
The Razer Blade 15 would work well for you, though it might be even overkill for just playing LoL and art programs. I supposed overkill is good in case you switch to a game that needs more power though, so there's that. Really it just comes down to what you like/can afford/value in a laptop.
Hi please can you tell me if is it 100% metal (Keyboard side, around screen side, below the laptop What about the thickness of the metal is it easy bendable like the MSI GS63VR ? Thank youuuuuu.
Owned two blades so far, adapters die within months, laptops die a little over a year. Battery bloats. Only 1 year warranty. Of course it's worth buying!
Can you do a video about big and fugly laptops based on thermals and performance. Thin is nice but looking for a functional laptop to replace my old desktop. Best vents etc, and or under volting?
SuperMcNasty Boi Yes. Mainly web development apps. Like a good text editor. Google chrome open, and fire fox with a lot of tabs. I’ll also have to have a local host running in the background too.
hi guys so i'm very interested to buy a new laptop and I'would love to have this razer blade but do yo thing it's worth to buy the razer laptop with gtx1060 and 60hz screen because I don't have enough money to buy the 144hz screen and if not with one do you recommend ?
What I'd like to see is a laptop that utilizes the entire screen area instead of being stubborn sticking to 1920 x 1080, go with 3:2 or 16:10 to utilize the entire potential screen surface area. It would also look much better too instead of having that thick useless bezel at the bottom. At least in my opinion it would look a lot better.
I always see people knock laptops for not having a full size SD slot, I've never used an SD card reader ever. I've never needed to. What are people using SD Cards for so much that I'm missing out on???
So I hear so much complaints about the Razer Baldes or products just breaking in like a week. And the only reason why I still have this on my list is because I’am a music producer and they come with Fl studio. Do you guys think it would be worth it to get it? Are the problems with the Razer products really that bad? I’m currently looking at the Msi Gs63
I hear these things are having a lot of problems like screen bleed, bad audio and base, dead pixels, broken adapters, bloating batteries, overheating, motherboards falling apart and bad customer service. For the price Razer charges, I would think they would be better.
MSI GS65 Stealth does not have a 2.5 inch drive bay (I needed 1 1TB SSD in addition to the 256 M.2) and it doesnt feel as premium as the Razer but they are a close match! :)
Had it and return it. Keyboard got too hot when I'm not even gaming. Battery life sucks even when not gaming. Makes a really loud noise when not gaming.
Brandon Scozzari it can slowly fatigue the electrical components, but the main issue is that the battery will fail/swell after a few years of constant use in high heat. But, that can be replaceable easily.
What do you mean not XTU compatible. I ran it successfully and when I undervolted too much my razer blade 15 shut down. XTU is compatible. It is just does not work together with throttlestop.
I think they will replace The pro because 2/3 Blade Models got a new Design and The pro has still the old design and those cards are expensive which fit with the pro
What I'd like to see is a laptop that utilizes the entire surface area for the screen instead of being stubborn sticking to 1920 x 1080, go with 3:2 or 16:10 to utilize the entire potential screen surface area. It would also look much better too instead of having that thick useless bezel at the bottom. At least in my opinion it would look a lot better. Regarding Pubg frame rate. This is a very common problem in pubg. When you hot drop your frames will end up being much lower even on desktop power horse computers. Some times the frames are cut by 50%. Basically your frames will be lower if there are other players in the near by area.
Im looking too buy a laptop too replace my outdated desktop. Reason i want a laptop is because i will be traveling a lot more then i have in the past, so i want too be able too bring my comuter with me. When traveling i have no problem playing games on very low settings, alsong as i sit around 70+ fps. When at home, i would want too use 2x 144gz 1440p monitors (obviously just playing on one), an external mouse and keyboard and headset and sit at 100+frames. Money is not a massive deal, but i obviously dont want too spend more then what i need. Would it be a good idea too get something around the 1000dollar price range, with a gtx1060 too make it handle games while traveling, and then spend money on a eGPU for better performance at home (perhaps when the 11 series is released), or would it be better to go for the 2000dollar price range?
I will also only be playing while having access too a table and power outlet, so im thinking a thin and light might not be the way too go, i assume they always have worse cooling.
@@tr1stan706 That sounds kinda weird. Im gettinh around 3500 euros per month. Tho im doing 12-14h during saturday and sunday and 8h shifts during the weeks. Could easily buy one, but i have no time for gaming :D. New car or a house, haven't thought of it yet.
Yes finally! I’ve been looking at the blade 15 since unbox therapy unboxed it and has been on my wish list since xD if only it weren’t so expensive! But you get what you pay for.
I hear these things are having a lot of problems like screen bleed, bad audio and base, dead pixels, broken adapters, bloating batteries, overheating, motherboards falling apart and bad customer service. For the price Razer charges, I would think they would be better.
It's really good. Perfect even as you sit a little closer when pc gaming. Th is from someone who has used some big tvs in my time - the screen is really good and big enough.
I bought a blade 15 144hz fhd 1070max-q 512gb at launch. Awesome raw power, good chassis and form factor but horrible display quality. Sad to say I had to return mine to Razer as it had excessive backlight bleed for a panel replacement. On return, it still had horrible bleed (i never noticed any with MacBooks or Acer ultrabooks, I use both OS) and ended up selling after 4 months. Lastly, the power brick is heavy and humongous so beware if you are planning to travel with this.
I've been an Apple user for the past decade, but recently their performance/price ratio has gone to shit..... $2799 for an outdated i7 and 16 gb or RAM isn't worth it AT ALL. This Razerblade is definitely going to be my next laptop haha
A few points I think should be added, the max q version of the 1070 is very very similar to the desktop version except it is poor at cooling and the vapor cooler is just not efficient enough yet which renders the max q version approximately 15% slower due to heating (probably why you had a frame rate drop when it was trying to render all the players). IMHO this laptop is a great buy for your on-the-go gaming/streaming/editing setup but not for your main rig/system. Like you said if weight and size are your top priorities this is definitely the PC for you but if you don't mind a heavier or bigger laptop then 100% consider something like the ROG Strix brand
GPU actually doesn't throttled due to heat, but to power limitations since its 80w limit prevents higher clocks. But it does turbo boost past the 1200 mark, usually rests near the 1400-1620 mark depending on the game. It rarely goes above 70-75 degrees temps though.
This looks awesome but i've been hearing a lot of people say they have had problems with their units and the support when they do is basically non existent. I don't live in the USA so i suspect it's even worse outside. I've watched a fair amount of videos this week i think i've narrowed it down to either the Zepheyrus M, Aero 15x or the MSI (gs65...i think it was without looking it up). Does anyone have any advice on which of these would be better. I would only be using it for gaming only and mostly plugged in but i have to go somewhere with good internet to download my games (hence the laptop).
Zephyrus M would be the best choice for purely gaming imo. More power, better thermals and cheaper than the others. If it had a 4k model I would have already bought it.
SuperMcNasty Boi because the razer with 144hz and 1070 was 700 dollars more or something I got my Alienware plus 3 year warranty and shipping all for 2,148. While the base price without warranty or anything of the razer with a 1070 and a 144hz screen was 2,699. I’m going to be taking the laptop to class and frankly I’d rather have a heavy more durable computer than something lighter and more prone to breaking. Plus I heard the thermals on the razer weren’t the best, the Alienware has got so much fan and vent space.
The True Gamerz Dynamite It's 2,399 in the states, but you get 10% off if you're a student (thanks Microsoft). The RB15 is rediculously sturdy. It had absolutely no flex in the chassis when I tried it out. The GS65 flexes like...Well...plastic. haha and the thermals aren't too bad. I gamed for an hour on it with it being room temperature to the touch. That was the 1070 model. But to each of their own I guess. I need something ultra portable since I usually carry my work laptop 4lbs along with my school laptop. So every pound counts when walking miles each day.
I'll be bringing you guys some more videos comparing the Razer Blade 15 and other top thin and light power house laptops. So stay tuned for those coming up!

Is the chasis strong enough to withstand the inevitable battery bulge?
@GizmoSlipTech
If you were to choose one, do you prefer the RB 15 to the Aero 15x and GS65 Stealth Thin?

Brandon Scozzari it can slowly fatigue the electrical components, but the main issue is that the battery will fail/swell after a few years of constant use in high heat. But, that can be replaceable easily.
80 degrees is well within operating temperatures. I would try to keep them under 85 ideally though. Over 90 is definitely hotter than I'd like.
What do you mean not XTU compatible. I ran it successfully and when I undervolted too much my razer blade 15 shut down. XTU is compatible. It is just does not work together with throttlestop.
It refused to let me undervolt. Adjusting voltage switched it from adaptive to static, which you don't want. Not sure why it did that. Any ideas?
How does the Razer Blade 15 compare with the HP Omen 15?
John-Paul Ginley razer is a lot better because it handles the heat better, has WAY better build quality, and has a beautiful design
Great review man!
My gaming pc just broke. I'm looking for a laptop. I have a pretty low budget. Should I get a razor?
Depends how much money you’re willing to spend.
Do you think it´s possible that they´ll build a new 15inch one until august 2019 including the new RTX type of GPU?
I think they will replace The pro because 2/3 Blade Models got a new Design and The pro has still the old design and those cards are expensive which fit with the pro
its 2024 now, is this still worth getting?
is the only storage on this device that 1 ssd? surely theres a bigger second drive right?
Just the SSD, but you can replace it
Can you use a mouse for it?
I have watched actually every single one of your vids
Great review! Can you make a review of msi ge 63 raider rgb 1070 version?
That would be a good one to review! I'll see if I can get my hands on it.
Sooo CPU performance is better on the Aero 15X?
It's been out for several weeks but still out of stock literally everywhere. How many did they ship? Ten? Why sell a laptop when nobody can buy it?
I know this is off topic but he should do a Oobleck vs dry ice buying trying to freeze the Oobleck by using dry ice
Pubg is literally the worst test for pretty much anything...it’s a shitstorm of poor optimization.
ryan butler totally agree. I dont understand why so many people would like to use pubg as a standard. That game optimization itelf is crap
doesn't matter as long as they use the same test.
Will it be good for college?
I really really want one
well, earn it. for me i have to work for 24 months without presents and stuff. It will be worth it
by the time you get the money there will be 2 new versions lol
@@tr1stan706 That sounds kinda weird. Im gettinh around 3500 euros per month. Tho im doing 12-14h during saturday and sunday and 8h shifts during the weeks.
Could easily buy one, but i have no time for gaming :D. New car or a house, haven't thought of it yet.
@@TheIdiotPlays depending on what your age is, earn a good capital to start a business or get a life
Dion Vo if you’re living off ur parents don’t bitch about not having a $3000 laptop lol
My Rb15 was defective on arrival, almost 6 weeks to get my refund too...via charge back request... good luck for anyone that rolls the dice on a Razer
That backlight bleed though... if not for that it would have been the best.
For the price Razer charges, I would think they would be better.
isnt the screen too small to play or just enough?
It's really good. Perfect even as you sit a little closer when pc gaming. Th is from someone who has used some big tvs in my time - the screen is really good and big enough.
That dog in the background is soooo cute omg
And MacOS sucks peanuts.
It is too hot to use normally with word, poweroint and when using AE, PS ? please !!!!
its a shame windows sucks for audio apps like Pro Tools or Ableton live
8:00 Well every single IPS display has issues with backlight bleeding.
what happened in the iPhone X give away? ?
I was interested in buying this, until i saw the backlight bleed.
Good review!
Great review. I'm choosing between the Razer and the Stealth. Battery life seems better with the stealth but build seems better with the Razer
The stealth isnt for gaming
how do i enter ur giveaway?
Razer if you are reading this, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE improve the speaker grills they are looking so CHEAP for a premium laptop.
This laptop with a repaste and an undervolt could be really awesome!
Msi ge63 or asus rog gl503 ?
This or gs75?
You are the best RUclipsr
can you make a new top 10 list of gaming laptops for a good price plz
Do i get this with a 1060 and a 144 hz screen or a Alienware 15 r3 with a 1070 and a 120 hz screen?
thanks mate
just did and will be here on the 11th! so hyped
Why not get the 60hz version, or the 1070-MQ & 144Hz?
So every pound counts when walking miles each day.
and not a single word that razer gets extremely hot to the touch while gaming. Up to 60 degree. Nice review... lol
It’s the old razer blade
Also he did talk about the temp
