City driver and love my Nittos. Never had an issue with traction with my mt. Although iv never had any other tire but stock to compare but I'm so happy with the Nittos.
My 22 taco off road came with the wrangler duratrac at tires. I travel in the summer towing a 2000 lb camper with a tongue weight of about 250lbs plus cargo in the truck bed. Rotated the tires at 7500 miles, and kept tires at 33psi. Wore down terribly after 27000 miles. Now going into winter and the tires had poor snow grip. Just swapped them out for the Goodrich ko2’s, find them a bit quieter than the duratracs on dry pavement. Got a decent snowfall today, I’m sure they will grab well since they’re new. Time will tell on the wear.
@@shundashundalah Very happy, the traction in snow is near excellent. I’ve been able to get out on the unplowed secondary roads and can’t easily roll through 10-12 inches of wet snow without problem. Mind you I’m in 4wd and my off road has great road clearance.
Good morning Rob. Another day in paradise! Mornings here are getting Arsome :-). My stock TRD 16" Goodyear Wranglers tires feel good for city driving. No plans to go off road. Love our Tacoma, I'm in the 96% club.
I’m thinking I’ll go with 275/70/R16 Nitto Ridgegrapplers for my 2019 Tacoma TRD Pro so I don’t have to deal with spacers or a lift/geometry issues or modification from my understanding regarding clearance issues.
Those Wildpeaks have a completely surrounding open track for water to get through which helps tremendously against hydroplaning. I used to use the BFG KO2’s but noticed their lack of hydroplaning control. No surrounding good track for water to get through. They worked great on mud and snow but sucked on wet pavement. I use Hankook AT’s now.
I have about 7,000 miles on some Goodyear ultraterrain tires. They spin like crazy on wet roads. In fact the one road on the way to work if it’s raining I have to be careful because it’s like ice. It might be the road surface too, but my VSC saved me a few times from spinning out and it’s not like I’m speeding. Traction in the snow and otherwise is fantastic though. My biggest gripe is the ride quality. They shake a little. I think next time I’ll go with the Falkens
I got a 21 manual sport tacoma. I switched to BF Goodrich ko2's with some cool Wheels right off the bat. Stayed with stock size. Interesting fact. The ko2s are skinnier than the factory tire
Good to know I made the right choice haha I just put the falken on my Tacoma so far so good did a little off road and hopefully they are great on the winter. In NW Pennsylvania we get a ton of snow.
It’s time for me to switch,I’ve had k02’s for four years now and I live in Canada they have been good to me ,but not so much on my back , they were ok at first but tend to wear unevenly the rubber gets hard and they have started to crack
You just answered my question, my 4x4 21 came with Toyo cheapo tires. Spin out through two gears. Not cool. But gotta feed the kids and wait, I'm definitely getting your recommendation when it's time. Thanks!!
I’m planning on Yokohoma M/t’s in a 255/85r16. If I were going with an A/T it would be a Falken. I have had several sets and they are the best A/T tires I have ever been around.
I think there's a lot of hype associated with BFG K02s the vast majority will never take their trucks offroad in extreme rock crawling situations, I believe it's wise to look for a tire that can deliver in multiple weather scenarios. What good is a tire if it can't operate well under wet road conditions?? When researching you will see this is a common complaint of the K02s. Wildpeaks all the way for me!
Balancing issues are hit or miss with those Wildpeaks. In my research I noticed folks complaining about vibrations. I recently made the move to Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT and they are absolutely fabulous.
Watch for cupping closely on those Coopers rotation and balancing every 4000 , if not a fella could get a vibrating massage while driving down the road. 🤷♂️🤦♀️
That’s funny with you on the toyo tires. Me was the opposite when I had my 98 Dodge Ram truck stock tires were Michelin’ LTX , it was horrible on wet and snow covered pavement. Bought the original Toyo AT ,awesome no problem, same with my 03 Jeep Liberty had them put on also replace garbaged Goodyear wranglers, that always broke loose on wet pavement and crap in the winter . Had no issues with them. But maybe you had the Toyo AT2 tires and for what I heard from my Toyo tire people the second generation they changed the compound making it a bit harder, so might had that problem. Now the gen 3 I think they went back with a softer compound and a slightly different treads. My tire guy son has the wild peak on his little Mazda truck and he likes it a lot and it grips in wet weather,My wife’s Jeep Cherokee has now Toyo HT on hers and she loves it on the highway and durability, I have on my04 Tahoe is general grabbers APT and they are great in all weather, mind you these one actually have the snow ❄️ peak emblem on the tire saying it’s snow certified. Just my view and knowledge on tires from buying experience and ,research and word of mouth that suits your needs.
AT3w Falkens for me next month. The ones I'm getting have a high winter rating. Im removing the factory Goodyear Kevlars with 4000 miles on them.. We have 4 to 5 months of winter here in Maine, coming up just around the corner. Snow sleet freezing rain and icy roads. I bet you miss all this huh Rob. Lol. Great channel thanks.
Good morning. I have toyo open country at3 on my 2014 trd sport for the last 2 years. Had to go to Colorado from Idaho in a snow storm and had no trouble with the tires losing traction on snow or wet pavement including off-roading .
So far for my "19 Tacoma the Goodyear Wrangler Dura Tracks work great from November thru April during snowmaggedon here in the mountains. From May thru October I run Kelly Edge's in which I'm very satisfied with. Have separate rims for both (one black and one chrome) so no problem when it comes time to switch.
Have Falken on my Tacoma so far very good, smooth running good traction. But, most tires do well when new, it's the long term performance that counts. I've had many brands, several are very good until you put 20,000 miles on them, then they'll get loud and rough riding no matter how often you rotate and balance. 🤦♂️🤞
Hey Rob, great channel. Watch all your videos! A couple questions...how big of lift do you have on your truck and what kind is it? I don't do any off-road stuffso what is your opinion on leveling kits? Thanks
Thank you. Your comment on off road vs paved was spot on. I need a somewhat quiet tire with very good road capabilities here in Michigan but also one that will get me through deer season up north on back trails. The Falkens have my interest. Ko2 ' are very popular.
I put the Falkens on my tacoma. Hoping they work well come this winter in Canada. I like they are not heavy like an E rated. As I don't need that heavy duty of a tire but they are better than a P tire. So far not much road noise that I notice.
@@RobMotive I have been looking at them i will probably get a set. The running boards on my Tacoma I think set to close to the body. What brand were those?

@Robmotive Hey bud keep on putting up that great content. Quick question looking to upgrade tires when lift is completed possible 2/1 or half inch more. Going to go with falkens. My question is would you recommend passenger or LT. Found a really good deal on some used LT falkens 275/65/18 which will be going on the stock limited wheels to have a more aggressive stock look. Thanks again
Not sure how they would be on a Tacoma but I run Firestone destination x/t an they are a really nice tire. Aggressive look an quiet. I’m looking into one of these trucks an your videos have been helpful!
