If I were a foreign flight going to the US over the Atlantic with eventual stop in almost any city west of Atlanta, I'd make Atlanta my first stop since it's near the coast and it's rarely affected by bad weather.
Its always been a good experience both flying into and out of ATL. Staff are friendly, most flights are on time and there's a lot of attention to detail when it comes to decorations and food options
I've been through once flying Air France from Paris and connecting with Delta to Austin. All I remember was that the Train ride from passport control to get to Austin's gate was longer than the time it took for us to taxi.
I fly there quite often to visit much of my family in Northeast Georgia, absolutely great airport, very easy to navigate and everything is modern and up to date.
I flew out of there plenty of times. It is very busy and huge! It is like a city. The staffs were all very helpful. The bathrooms were clean, thank goodness for that too.
In 2019 I had the pleasure of flying into and out of Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Airport. Coming in was easy to navigate once you understood the shuttle system. Going out was crazy. I had a scheduled early flight so I got to the airport at 4:30am and was shocked to see the security queues were already backed up even with the subscription of TSA Pre and Clear to get into special queues. Plan accordingly should you fly out of Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Airport.
If you catch the glut of business travelers, yeah, Pre-check can be worse than the regular line. Otherwise, pre-check is a breeze and I regularly get through in under 10 minutes at 6am.
I'm also an Atlantan, but I recommend to any avgeek to check it out. While there are tons of amenities, it's not architecturally spectacular. The efficiency the sheer numbers of people and planes are processed at is kind of amazing though.

I have flown thru there many times, and it is clean and efficient, with connecting trams to the concourse, and lots of diversions, if you are delayed for long, ATL does not get snow (occasionally ice) so that helps with no delays being common, unlike ORD, which is a winter mess!
I flew into Atlanta once and it was a terrible experience. It was snowing which caused havoc as they clearly weren't used to it. We got lucky as there was a sick passenger on board so we got to land relatively quickly. Then I was surprised to find that after a huge wait at immigration, then picking up my bag, I then had to check my bag back in just to get out of the airport because everything is airside. So another long wait to do that, then a mile-long hike across the airport (there was a train but chances of getting onto it were slim). I finally got my bag again, which was on a carousel, landside, where anyone could have taken it. Then I had to get to car hire and that took ages too. From landing to collecting my car was over 4 hours. OK, so I was unlucky, but it's there amongst my worst airport experiences and I have actively avoided Atlanta ever since. Typically, I left plenty of time to catch my return flight and there were no issues at all, so I had to hang around for hours...
That's all gone now, as they opened a new international terminal some years back and it's all self-contained: You check in there, you get your bags there. No more "pick up your bags, put them back in" nonsense.
Until Delta closed their acquired hub in Memphis, (along with the help of various low-cost, point-to-point options available), I was able to avoid connecting through Atlanta for the bulk of my adult flying life. It's a fine airport, easy to navigate for its size.
Actually I have in 2019 and I was impressed by its efficiency. Even there is only one security check line, you were always moving and even there are five Terminals, you are quick there with the rail. I had several flights in and out of ATL as I chose it as a base for my US trip and as said in the clip, one of the advantages is its geographical location. I had to go to Cleveland and visited New Orleans. The only reason I will probably fly into Boston again next time is the customs and immigrations office which is much easier and faster at a smaller airport of course.
My main issues flying through Atlanta are I have to arrange at least a hour layover to lessen missing my connections. In addition, they tend to shut down for weather more frequently than other airports. And takeoffs and landings over the highway is pretty cool!
I’ve fly delta a lot so I’ve been through Atlanta many times, although not always on delta. I have also flown the long hop from the 5th busiest to Atlanta.
I've traveled through ATL but my recollection was that some of the concourses still had the low ceiling designs, not sure if all the concourses were rebuilt.
Delta's parts of the domestic concourses have been heavily modernized over the last decade or so, adding in a lot of windows and in general creating a more "open" feeling. The common use gates over in concourse D are still cramped as can be.
@@wolfe55555 parts of the airport are much older than that, the airport has been expanded six times and within the past three years, 60% of the airport has been refurbished and remodeled to have high ceilings and larger windows
@@joewileman4480 I think Concourse D will be the last to be remodeled, seeing as how other carriers use the North end of that Concourse. Atlanta Airport earns almost all its money from Delta and has a vested interest to promote Delta over other carriers when possible, and there is nothing in their charter that require them to be neutral, which I think is why Qatar airways was given such a bad welcome and almost forced to leave. Atlanta refused to give them a dedicated gate at International and made them park their arrivals on a remote stand a bus their passengers in. Atlanta doesn't even have dedicated remote stands or bussing for normal flights, haha
@@videosfromelsewhere926 The gate Qatar wanted to use E1 is common use. That flight used an A380 they were only going to use once, and it's the only A380 gate so it wouldn't have been assigned just to them. With only one flight, the airport can't afford to award them a dedicated gate. Even carriers with multiple flights like jetBlue and Frontier use common use gates.
I've probably flown out and into that airport a hundred times and it's just easy to get through. I've even made it to the airport with less than an hour before my flight and still managed to get to the terminal before it left.
Hartsville Jackson international is a glory to behold especially the new international terminal me being a Georgian myself get to experience it on our regular basis
I traveled to Atlanta from Philly on July 27 the airport is HUGE and you have to take a tram to get from gate to gate the flight was on and hour and a half but the I’d definitely be going back down to Atlanta again
ATL is my home airport also. I do make connection through it and it is a clean and simple thing especially compared to any other major. Something that isn’t mentioned is the runway layout. All of the runways run East to West. On a clear evening with flight landing out of the East I’ve seen the light 15 aircraft deep. This makes a massive difference on delay for both arrivals and departures. Whenever I come back from Europe and have to make a connection for another destination ATL is the choice.

My favorite airport. So big, lots of shops, museum, and easy to maneuver.
Thanks for showing.
I am apart of another big hub which is Chicago.
ATL is SO HUGE with lots of planes and airlines flying through ATL! As a self proclaimed Avgeek I loved it!!!
True! We're the main hub for Delta too, which is pretty neat. Have you been to the Delta Flight Museum?
Atlanta is one of the best large international airports in the US.
You can’t tell me otherwise.
Atlanta is an awesome airport especially for tight/short connections
ATL is my home airport and it’s super efficient also I’ve been to Charles de Gaulle it’s pretty much the opposite of efficient
Atlanta's airport is a very state-of-the-art airport. I've always had great experiences there.
I've been through once flying Air France from Paris and connecting with Delta to Austin. All I remember was that the Train ride from passport control to get to Austin's gate was longer than the time it took for us to taxi.
I’ve been to Atlanta twice, and it’s probably my favorite airport
TPA is nice also, but not axhugextransfer hub likexATL,
I fly there quite often to visit much of my family in Northeast Georgia, absolutely great airport, very easy to navigate and everything is modern and up to date.
That's a TSA problem. That body is in need to extensive reform.
I'm also an Atlantan, but I recommend to any avgeek to check it out. While there are tons of amenities, it's not architecturally spectacular. The efficiency the sheer numbers of people and planes are processed at is kind of amazing though.
I live in Atlanta and have flown through multiple times. I do love the airport, but I would *always* recommend getting there early since security, and walking through the gargantuan airport.
@Jonathan Parks Bruv it literally says its 35 minutes from concourse T to F But given that there's the plane train, it's more like 6 minutes
@Jonathan Parks you just stated why 😂
I flew through Atlanta a couple times and it was very organized and easy to navigate despite its size
Flew out of Hartsfield on Mondays and back on Thursdays for many years, it is always busy.
I live just outside Atlanta so the Atlanta airport is the main airport that I use for obvious reasons and I think that it deserves the number one spot because the staff has always been very friendly and able to direct me to where I need to go when I ask
1 of the best places👌 to go spotting📸, nonstop action🛫🛬♾️
Spotting where inside or outside and where?
Pre-covid there was a take off or landing every 15 seconds!
@@danielclooney6248 You can spot outside in the Southside cell lot, or on top of the garage. Inside you can get great views from Gate 1A on Concourse D, and the outdoor deck of the Concourse F SkyClub.
@@n7y8c7 Thanks very much.
The plane animation of each plane over the stats is a cool effect
Nice airport. I hope I have time to visit the city the next time I'm there.
Passed through with my pappi in 2017
When he saw korean air he asked: hey is that pepsi air?
Lol
🤣🤣
The old saying is if you die in the south where do you go to heaven or hell do you have to change planes in Atlanta Atlanta Hartsfield is large ugly and busy but it’s extremely efficient and you can fly to almost any destinations in the world without having to connect at another airport with that live in Atlanta do cherish our Hartsfield Jackson international airport thanks for the video nice job
I was there once. Flying from Frankfurt to Florida. Love this airport😍
Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson is my home airport and I have only had a delay of up to 15 minutes going out of Atlanta.
One of the best airport I flew out of.
The only reason I will probably fly into Boston again next time is the customs and immigrations office which is much easier and faster at a smaller airport of course.
this is my base!! love hartsfield!
I have flown in/out of ATL many times. I've had both good and bad experiences doing so.
Very nice
Atl is my home airport amazing airport even through Covid. Flew through it many times this year
I've traveled through ATL but my recollection was that some of the concourses still had the low ceiling designs, not sure if all the concourses were rebuilt.
The airport was built in 1980
Delta's parts of the domestic concourses have been heavily modernized over the last decade or so, adding in a lot of windows and in general creating a more "open" feeling.
I love ATL it was home to my first travel destination and I still love it.
Huge airport, with lots of facilities, I was there on February 2020.
I worked for delta. Atl is the easiest airport to get around in the world.
I at the time of posting this comment I passed through Atlanta and man it’s nice
Such a great airport! But hold on that tram is violent 😅
Something's to include about why Atlanta is very popular, while you spoke about it's access to Europe it also has a strong access to south America.
My home airport!!!
