- The emotions usually associated with achievements are positive ones like pride or satisfaction, but a few games have prepared sarcastic low-value achievements that pop when you screw up, just to rub it in. The Bourne Conspiracy, for example, serves up a measly few gamerscore points and a heaping helping of snark with an achievement for wildly inaccurate shooting called "Need Glasses".
Heisting sim Payday 2 does likewise with an achievement called "F in Chemistry", awarded for bungling a meth cookout and accidentally blowing up the lab.
Secret Service, on the other hand, doesn't even sugar the sarcasm pill with gamerscore. You get precisely 0G for doing "The Exact Opposite of Your Job", which is to say, shooting the man you are employed to protect, which is to say, the US president. Haha oops my bad, Mr Prez. Mr Prez?
Then there's Superman Returns' 0G "Not So Super" achievement for using a crafty cheat code, F.E.A.R.'s "Suicide King" achievement, awarded for accidentally killing yourself a bunch of times, Risen's "Idiot" achievement for falling to your death on multiple occasions, and Portal's "Good Listener" cheevo, awarded for walking gullibly into a particularly obvious trap laid by GlaDOS.

Scouts are taking teleporters

There's also the achievement in the Ghostbusters video game for hitting yourself with your own weapon.
Proud to say it is also the only achievement I have in that game.
Also, the real sarcastic achievement in CoD: WaW is for completing the game on Veteran difficulty...

TheDark4light I honestly don't know. All I remember is a big explosion and an achievement popping. I don't recall any grenades, though.
wouldn't there be a achievement for crossing streams i cant imagine anyone not trying that first thing or the developers not doing anything about that.
My addition would have to include "Darwin's Parachute" from Battlefield: Bad Company. The description before unlocking reads, "Parachute to safety". So once you bail out of the helicopter and frantically spam every button imaginable before finally meeting your fate on the ground, it pings. The unlocked description reads, "Wait, there is no parachute." Genius, haha.
My favorite achievement is the achievement "I Knew Someone Would Do It" from Enter the Gungeon. To get this, you need to shove a table into a pit. The flavor text is "Why" and nothing else. It's basically a direct insult for doing something pointless and stupid. But it does unlock an item that stops you from taking damage from falling into pits, so...
Getting the achievement for pointlessly licking all the way through a candy cane barrier in Saints Row IV is funny, especially since the game itself can't quite believe you're wasting your time doing it.
theres one earlier on in the same game which is finish eating your pancakes instead of answering the front door

TF2 has an achievement called 'consolidation price', which is earned when you've got backstabbed no less than 20 times while playing Sniper.

I have put in like 1000 hours into TF2 and since I never play sniper I don't have that one yet.
Looks like someone is on bad terms with fun. That's the fundamental point of taunts in TF2 to begin with, to use after killing someone so they'll see it in the killcam shot. That's why they're called "taunts" and not "emotes." They were there for that purpose (that is, since the beginning,) before any achievements related to them were added.
countrybluegrass i completely understand. i have the achievements for freezecam while taunting as sniper (for some reason got both at the same kill). its just that you are probably expected to actually fight when you get ubercharged and ruin it by taunting instead
I actually got the HALO 4 Pitchin' A Tent; I killed a couple enemies, found a nice quiet spot, went to get a snack and drink, came back and left my Spartan sitting in the same spot while I ate, heard the little trophy sound, pressed the button as I was bewildered what the achievement was, and when I saw it was for camping, and called "pitching a tent" I started cracking up. Still one of my favorite gaming stories to tell to this day, glad to see it get some recognition.
Litsky Pancakes back in 2010, during a reach match, I hijacked an enemy Falcon, but there were still enemies in the turret seats, so I drove the Falcon into an ocean, killing me and the two enemies

Darkest Dungeon has an achievement for dying to Wilbur, a little piggy that is mostly harmless and does very little damage. The achievement is even called "That'll do pig, that'll do..."
Portal 2 also had "Pit Boss," which you get for throwing yourself into a spiky death pit because you were told to.
I was expecting THAT to make this list over "Good Listener".

There was a house in a neighborhood next to my kindergarten and one of the houses blew up but I never knew why. Long story short a couple years later I found out that there was a meth lab in the basement and the person must've cooked it wrong.

I love "There was a car?!?" from Payday 2 during the Meltdown heist. My buddies and I legitimately did not know there was a car and spent around 2 hours or longer trying to secure the nuclear warheads. We did it, and then that popped up. Went back in and were able to do the same mission in 20 minutes using the car.
I did knew there was a car, but I didn't knew I could get the warheads on to the car, so I was like " WHAT THE HELL, WHAT'S THE POINT OF IT????". Bruh.

Actually, a sniper does not have to sit in one spot, if the enemy knows the location of the gun shot then your screwed, so you are gonna move and then take another shot

I'd suggest the "I Have No Idea What I'm Doing" achievement from PAYDAY 2 (I think it's only on the Steam version). You get it by completing the stealth-only Shadow Raid heist with a minigun and an RPG. Best of luck.

"Touchdown!" in Fallout 4 gave you an achievement for dying by being hit by a Super Mutant Behemoth's Nuke Toss. It really makes being turned into Jam satisfying.

I think there's one for exploiting a glitch to get yourself out of bounds from the beggining. There's even some special narration when you do that, too!
I thought the Payday achievement would be Fish AI, the achievement for throwing a bag of coke into the water.

Well the achievement name was a joke about COD's Advanced Fish AI.
In the Rats mission in Payday 2 I've found that most people purposely fail the meth lab part so they can get that part over with because on the hardest difficulty it provides a lot of EXP so they want to be able to repeat it as much as possible.
Then they must suck...rats isn't that good of a map for exp farming.

I honestly got the GLaDOS achievement on purpose, and wouldn't have gotten it if I hadn't known there was a trophy involved. I also got the Wheatley one on purpose, the one where you jump into the pit you just escaped from because he tells you to. What can I say? I'm a completionist. V_V
(BTW, no sarcasm, I truly only did those things for the trophy.)

I got "Pitching a Tent" on the Valhalla map on matchmaking while contributing. I was using the dmr while crouched near the man cannon on the base opposite the sea/ocean and I sat there like a quarter of the match. It was a pretty good match
I'm a bit surprised 'Pit Boss' from Portal 2 wasn't on the list - Wheatley literally asks you to come back and jump in a pit after he screwed up his elaborate plan to kill you.

I got pitching a tent in halo 4 by accident. I gave my vote for ragnarok, went off to get a drink and when I came back the match was already going. Then I put on my headset and it plopped up. I was like: "The fuck did I just do?". I didn't even know about that achievement! 😂

It rewarded you for returning to the game, it is super easy to get distracted when you go to do something. Had COD Ghosts drop me from a game because I went to pee and it started. I wasn’t even gone long

What about the "Butterhands" achievement in SuperHot VR? When you use an entire mag and hit no one, a sticky note falls down that reads "ButterHands" with a little picture that looks like a dude with paralyzing anxiety.

In Dead Rising 2, I recall there being a secret achievement for making an item crafted from a queen and Nectar. Pretty cool, and its a decent item, but its the description that gets you. I believe its something along the lines of "I bet you looked online for this one". No Capcom, my friend told me about it. Thanks.
What about the achievement you get when you enter Zero Gravity in the Moonraker level of 007 Legends? You get Zero gamerscore. ZERO G.

The description of the Purple Heart achievement isn't really all that sarcastic. It shares its name with an actual military decoration that was awarded by the president to those wounded or killed in action.
"Show courage and persevere" is basically telling you "you can get through this, just keep trying!," not "get good, skrub!" And it's telling you this genuinely. If it was being sarcastic, it would say something like, I dunno, "try not to suck so bad" or "die a million times over until you finally get through it".
It would actually be an honor to get this 5G/Bronze achievement, not a bad thing.
Also Undertale perseverance soul is purple!

Camping is the right way to do the job. Imagine a bunch of soldiers running heads first into the enemy territory without any strategy. A single soldier camping could take them out without moving an inch. And that's exactly what happens in online shooters, the campers get the advantage over the stupid flies that keep flying aimlessly on the battlefield. It doesn't help that developers don't make their games more focused on the strategies of wars and fully utilize camping to enhance the experience, but rather make games were you are supposed to be a stupid fly!

TwilightWolf032 Camping itself isn't bad, but when people do it for free kills (damage-blocking wall in the corner of a room with two ways in, where neither of them can get behind you, for example) is when it gets annoying.
you forgot the fact that real people have real lives to save. this is what i never understood with people trying to justify camping by comparing it with real life

The camping achievement in halo 4 was the hardest to get. I dont camp but i wanted the achievement. It seemed so easy to do. Just stay in one spot. No. It took me 6 matches to try.

I got two from rabi-ribi, an indie game found on steam... so... up to you if they even deserve mentioning since they're trying to get a console release...
but anyway, there's "here's your achievement" for trying to lower the difficulty on the lowest difficulty (casual), and the "we warned you" achievement for when you fall down a pit in the "system interior" area of the game (in which you also get one-shotted if it's not below normal difficulty)

Tales of Vesperia comes to mind for me. I wasn't ecpecting Duke to be the actual final boss since I only remember seeing him a few time during the entire game and I don't remember thinking he was a bad guy before then. Unless I completely missed something which is possible. I can't remember which boss I though was the final one before that. It's been years since I played that game.
Tales games always go on for longer than you expect though.
