8 Buttons You Were Told Not to Press and Then You Pressed Them, Dummy

- As people who play games, we know what you do with a button. You press it. So when presented with a button we're not meant to push, we're more conflicted than a sushi chef at Seaworld. Consider these buttons you were clearly told not to press, and subscribe: www.tinyurl.com/SubToOxbox
After you complete Modern Warfare 2, you wind up in a museum commemorating the events that just took place. Unlike all other museums, however, this one contains a big conspicuous button that tells you not to press it. The button is not kidding around, it turns out; pressing it causes all the exhibits to come to life and murder you.
In the Thief 2 mission Blackmail, on the other hand, you infiltrate the local sheriff's grand estate, and while you're hanging out in the basement you discover a massive, inviting button, with a sign telling you not to push it.
Still, you’re playing as a thief, and flaunting society’s rules is your bread and butter. Chances are you’re going to give that thing a hefty push. Probably opens a secret room full of gold, right? Wrong.
It actually releases a duo of angry giant spiders. So it was a spider button. Maybe the sign should say that instead, sheriff?

“Some humans would do anything to see if it was possible to do it. If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.”
― Terry Pratchett
The Demented Cartoon Movie confirms it.
Lol
*Finishes painting words on button*
*Sees the words he literally just painted*
*Presses the button*
This quote got me laughing by giving just the start of a picture XD
Well If I was alone in the cave for years and the world seemed to be over already.... Lol jk.
Because people would know that a switch THAT important would NOT be clearly marked as such in the real world.
Instead it would be in a locked safe, behind 3 40 inch thick doors made out of adamantium or the real-world closest equivalent, at the bottom of a 2 mile deep mining shaft.
Speaking of buttons, you should press F5 on your keyboard. It's so _refreshing_.
Good one
+WhammyTime91 i've heard wonderful things about pressing Alt and F4 together
heheheh
+Some Guy no no no no no, dont you know the real cheat code is to push CTRL-ALT-DELx2 in a 2 second span?
LOL, I have a Mac. Great for some things but overpriced and sucks at gaming
I love how you BEAT the game to get to the first one, and yet after you get injured the screen still shouts at you "You're Hurt! Get to Cover!"
Thanks! WE KNOW!
maybe the game thinks you have a sudden amnesia
Well. Call of Duty is mostly played by children and they need to be constantly reminded what to do.
+Xifihas lol, too true.
+Dat Boi Both of you shut the fuck up
alternine What? I'm sorry, but its the truth.
Jane, we see your shirt. We KNOW you pressed the psychedelic freak out button, don't try to hide it.
but how did she survive the injuries?
@@ihatethatyoutubedisplaysyo8106 she was immune to it because of the shirt.
When it says don't press this button, the first thing in my mind is, "oh this is where you want me to save".
PULL THE LEVER CRONK
+XxEpicScoutxX WRONG LEVEEeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrr............
+TheMur28 AYYYYYYYEEEEE
+TheMur28 Why do we even have that lever?
...Okay... why does she even have that lever?
+TheMur28 LOL
*Kronk
Fun fact. if you don't push the button wheatley still tries to blow you up and magically core transfer decides to resolve the stalemate itself.
Finally!
In Portal 2, you ARE supposed to press that button. It's not like you are not allowed to press it, You're forced to do it to finish the game.
But you are told not to press it
nerdsweeper reverse psychology to tempt you to press it
Schwachkorb but, you don't actually get to press the button really.
There's also a big red button on some guards' console in Hitman 2. Turns out it's an alarm that alerts the half dozen guards in the room next door...
+Gabriel Kingbird
actualy it's verry usefull.
i pressed that button, ran back downstairs and waited till hiyamoto got to where that missile guidence thingie was placed (wich we also had to get) and blew him up with a bomb XD
I do believe Jane's shirt just pressed the Space Quest button.

Is that what happened when you tried to bomb the English parliament during the middle ages? Did the animus not say don't press power button while auto saving??
SonnyDog830 press F to pay respects
If they do talk about indie games, then why didn’t they talk about Escape the Complex or don’t press anything, ITS IN THE NAME!
From Portal 2 you should have chosen the button that GLADOS tells Chell to press when she's escaping from her, because that one is actually optional. The one you mentioned in the video, you have no other coice, but to press it, otherwise the game doesn't progress.
+MrBX5 Agreed.
agreed cuz weatley rigged it anyways so... yah
yes, I ranted about how you were supposed to press it when they said that.
Agreed. That girl is a fucking poser
@@TraceguyRune how

Should have left the honorable mention of WoW's Ulduar Boss Mimiron where if you push the big red button, you activate his harder fight.
There's another moment in Stanley Parable, where you're told to not press a button and you do it anyway
(the phone ending).
The broom closet ending is the best ending XD
+Rebel Without A Cause I find this concerning.
+Rebel Without A Cause did you get the broom closet ending that ending was my fav
+Muhammad Zafar That was the best ending ever. Folks should totally get that ending.
+Muhammad Zafar I'm sorry but the whiteboard ending, by far, is the best.
why not push a button when you can leave your controller alone completely *cough*UntilDawn*cough*
Lol
Remember when that game was popular? xD
+Sour Note I do. We played that game back in nam

+Furko08 me 1337
One of the things that annoy me the most in gameplay footage is when someone presses a button and then doesn't look around the room to see what changed, they just keep staring at the button.
There has been a lot of speculation on the final bit off The Stanley Parable and whether or not you could escape the self-destruct sequence but you can't. The entirety of that big room was created as to give you a false sense of hope. The devs even put a catwalk with a few doors at the top of the room.
The spider button! Oh man, it should have just said that on the plaque.
A Psychedelic Freakout Button? Is that what happened with Jane's shirt?
i love dat shirt :D
+Laszlok Exactly what I was thinking.
+Laszlok Someone Snatched The Shoulder part of her dress
+Laszlok ah nuts you beat me to it
Nicked it from James May
Thanks a lot for the spoiler warning in the beginning! It was actually perfect. Most channels like these usualy only say "spoiler alert" at the start of a video without exaplaining what they're going to spoil...
This is much better!

This is why I save the game before I press ALL THE BUTTONS

+Bun from Heaven if they do they will finally be written in her diary (someone please get the reference, someone please get the reference)
For the original Space Quest, that button would send you into Kings Quest's castle moat. Same outcome, death.
Lol yes, because we are all worried about spoilers from Modern Warfare 2
lol, really?
:/ Well, you learn something new every day! :)

OHHHHHH! WHAT THAT BUTTON DOES?
Jason McCabe I was...
Good ol' Dee Dee.
“Some humans would do anything to see if it was possible to do it. If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.”
― Terry Pratchett, Thief of Time
Sunless Sea has LOSE YOUR MIND and EAT YOUR CREW buttons, which do exactly what it says on the tin. The game explicitly tells you not to press them.
The countdown ending on the Stanley Parable was brilliant for me. And yet when I HAD TO press the baby button in the same game I didn’t😂
*1:44* I'M TRIPPING BALLS OVER HERE!!!!!
When one looks at Jane`s dress, it seems like she also prssed the button for the "shuffle psychodelic freak out generator" :D
They left the best part from the Stanley parable button prompt out, the part where the narrator gas so much fun watching you try to escape that he gives you more time to struggle
The entirety of "Please, Don't Touch Anything." Heck, it's the very premise of the game- that beautiful human urge to do the exact opposite of what you were told.
Ah, Shenmue sure brings back memories. I remember that sequence very well; I was actually shocked into not pressing the button when Zhi pulled out the razor, but did it anyway just to see what would happen.
Jane's shirt is fabulously distracting
Jane by herself is distracting
Thomas Hague yea her shirt wink wink
She must have pressed that psychedelic button
Andy and Jane are amazing at their jobs, wish you'll never replace them
Okay that portal one was dumb. You HAVE to press it
PORTAL 2 IS MY FYKING FAVORITE GAME OF ALL TIME COME FITE ME M8
he meant that it was dumb to be on this list. he wasn't dising the game
You still get blasted back even if you don't press it. The whole thing is a lie.
It has all the qualifiers:
1) You are told not to press it (by Wheatley)
2) You disobeyed him and pressed it anyway.
3) Profit.
That Guy opinions can't be wrong
...Stanley, the ANONYMOUS employee?
+Ninbi Gaming Stanley? Who's Stanley? I mean, while playing the game, I never heard that name...
Fuffix513 Still, it is confusing to refer to someone as "anonymous" when you already know their name, especially when it appears in the title of the game.
That CoD museum button... I did it backwards, I killed everything in the room first and then I pressed it and then wondered what was it suppose to do...
Me too! I thought maybe a cool Easter egg would be found if I killed them all! Pressed the button and spent 15 minutes trying to understand what it did.
I killed all but the captain prices. I never played mw2 ever again
what you've just done can never be taken back
Well, the Portal 2 button is mandatory to progress.
I knew the stanley parable had to be on here
+saigesheen same
OK JANE I GET IT! I will never press them again.
Mass Effect 3, Sur'Kesh, "Don't touch that" anyone? Come on, how did that not make it here?
Exactly my thought when I saw the title lol
0:05 I HAVE NEVER RELATED TO ANY CONTENT ON THE INTERNET MORE THAN THIS.
Dee Dee! Do not press that button! You do not know what that button does!
You wanna push my buttons?
Yes *mashes the eye button*
+DeadCore Harder daddy
+Paddy kiernan im button shaming
+Paddy kiernan that escalated quickly
+Paddy kiernan there are kids around here!
the barbershop scene in shenmue 2 had me stuck for so long. i kept thinking that i just wasn't pressing the QTEs fast enough (because that's literally the only time in the game you're not supposed to press the big flashing buttons on the screen) and kept failing. the worst part was that you could only attempt it once every in-game day, and the barbershop wasn't open on certain days. so i had to keep going to the shop, failing, going all the way back to my apartment to sleep, going all the way back the next morning, hope the barber was open that day, wait until the time the shop actually opened, go in, and then fail the QTEs all over again. i had to repeat this like 10 times before i realized the game was fucking with me, and i could just put my controller down during the scene. that was an evil, evil moment in an absolutely amazing game.
True Reset - Undertale
Yeaaah nooo....
***** General, i need you to find Sarah Connor, i'll mark her location on your map. ;)
Well it is true
***** Yeah buddy!
Yup.

... Was Please, Don't Touch Anything too obvious for the list?
We press those buttons to see what will happen, as it is a video game there is no real life consequence, unless you lose all progress to your game especially if you were hours in.. that will suck..
*coughSkyrimWith500+hoursCough*
+Ghostly Gamer Lol look at our names.
+The Gamer Ghost lol spooky..
+hypernovaD
OBVIOUSLY.
+hypernovaD Like in Banjo Kazooie. Such memories.
I loved this in another CrowsCrowsCrows game, "Dr. Langeskov, The Tiger, and The Terribly Cursed Emerald: A Whirlwind Heist."
I would say the other button you were told not to press in Portal 2 makes more sense to go on this list. When GLaDOS is the one that's corrupted. I know both of them are mandatory for progressing the story, but the first one actually causes something terrible to happen for the facility, while the one you included would have saved it, had Chell managed to even press the button.
Don't press this button? Screw you game developers...you're not my supervisor!
Oh wait... Now I'm dead.
Hey! The Keswick Pencil Museum was delightful!
I thought the same thing. I like that one.
Whats the keswick pencil museum?
Mad Viking A museum about pencils. In Keswick.
+Mad Viking 1:00
+Jack Coxon lol
You included a game from the best game series of all time not too often mentioned? Thief 2 the Metal Age? I am so very proud of you
I actually can't think of one of those moments though
Not really a button press but in Paper Mario Thousand Year Door there's a diary you're told NOT to read.
"Whatever you do; do not press either of those two windows" Okey will do, thanks for the warning... :)
man this just makes me remember how fucking awesome MW2 was :(
I know
Jayboyr123 yeah.. it was just good. and now? Chappie warfare ..
gonna go with bf this year.
Someone didn't play the original ratchet and clank, you press the big red button and the ship you're on begins to detonate activating a time trial mission.
That Shenmue 2 part got me. I failed it 5 times thinking I didn't press A fast enough. Stupid me, it was so obvious!
To be fair, you had to press the button in Portal 2 in order to get to the final step of the ending.
You don't actually have to press the button you can just ignore it and it still explodes
She didn't tell me not to push on the like button so I did't press it. Your reverse reverse psychology won't work on me! Or will it I don't really know anymore.... my brain hurts
"Here, watch this. Stanley, the next time the screen asks you to push a button, DO NOT DO IT." *boop* "See? Can he just not hear me?"
Never heard of this channel. It's pretty cool. Thank you for introducing me to "The Stanley Parable". Subbed.
well, this video pressed ALL of my button😏
Freaking nice
Here's a suggestion, (X amount) times in games where we had to destroy our controllers (as in where a game made you mash a button) examples: metal gear solid one: ocelot interrogation, and metal gear solid Peacewalker: strangelove interrogation
+conbonnor Fucking Killer is Dead
and Darksiders,
The Sentinel boss fight in X-Men Origins: Wolverine
OMFG I HATED THAT SO MUCH, loved the game though
Payday 2: RIP Right Bumper
I always press the button on 2 player games just before the puzzle is solved and it makes a new version of a item we need for the puzzle
That Shenmue qte got me good. All that time when that sound starts playing you hit the button on screen, I couldn’t stop myself. 😑
I live in Keswick !!! So weird hearing someone online talk about the pencil museum XD
Visiting Keswick on Saturday. .its a great place.
the stanley parable is the best game in DA WORLD
...and i'm the only one who has figured it out. i actually feel lonely.
Wasteland 2, it doesn't specifically state that I shouldn't press it, but it was in the Citadel Museum, and attached to a functional Davey Crocket nuke, so it was kinda implied, still worth it to hear that banging end credit soundtrack.
Where is the button in dumb ways to die?
I wonder what's that button do?
(World exploding)
omg yus!
But in Portal 2, you are told to press the button by GLaDOS and the automatic voice, and you can't progress until you do...
+BlackManiaGaming
But you're still told "Do not press that button." The title of the video doesn't say that it has to be the correct choice.
The portal 2 one shouldn't be here. You HAVE to press it to finish the game.
true, but even if you weren't supposed to press it...I would do it anyway
well Wheatley did tell you to not press it.
Read the title.
+big boi kaeleb but the others are buttons you also should not be pressing. however you HAVE TO (try to) press the one in portal 2.
+Tvde1 Read the title.
I love that in Mavel vs. Capcom 3 whenever Deadpool gets knocked out he says, "You pressed the wrong button!"
I remember in world of Warcraft they had a "don't push this button" scenario in one of their raids. Ulduar. If you hit the button it activated a hard mode for a boss that made him almost unkillable at the time.
When I saw spoilers for Portal 2 i thought They meant when you put Wheatly In to GLADOS
+Derek Benson Kinda hard to spoil it for me, I can do the entire ending without prompts."Oh, you had to go and play bloody cat and mouse didn't you..."*glint*VWOOOM
+Derek Benson Really you could use both haha, now that you mention it they should've.
Ok, I won´t click any of those windows ever.
The temptation...
..and Fable 2 didn't make the list when /if you get to the prison. Best laugh ever seeing a friend go through it and not listening. "Obey!....Obey!" lol
As soon as I saw the title for this video, I thought: Theres gotta be something from portal in there, and I haven't played or seen any gameplay of it!
I see that like me, you know more about video games from them than you do from playing video games.
Eric Moore haha, you’re absolutely right!
the button in the raid Ulduar in World of Warcraft at the boss mimiron there was a do not push button... many people found out the hard way what it did
+kurt joachim I was about to say the same thing. lol
eviljbrian :D
+kurt joachim look at the channel name m8, this is an xbox channel making videos about xbox games
i don't remember WoW being an xbox game
Seurgeon yeah i've noticed that since i can read but i'm just saying for the people that dont only play on xbox...
Ah, Wheatley. Gone but never forgotten ^-^
I wonder what he's thinking about right now, having drifted through space for about 5 years?
ajmrowland Maybe since he was insane before, he's gone sane?
MegaRobotgaming He seems to be, based on the post credits scene.
I think the message was "power corrupts"
But props to that game, high quality as always Valve. And damn that ending... If you figured out on your own that you were supposed to shoot the moon (the conversion gel being made of moon rocks) it was the most amazing feeling ever. Had some friends though that said they were confused, and just started shooting randomly.
I loved the button scene in stanley parable. I was just stading in the big YES NO button room doing nothing and the narrator narrated what i was currently NOT doing. :3
You had my subscription the moment you told us ahead of time what was being spoiled.
