Most don't realize how talented ALL of these drumlines are. We're talking 2-3 ticks difference that results in those scores in the top 5. SCV was cleanest but their book doesn't look as hard as BD or Bloo. Crown has awesome writing, probably the most fun to learn and play to this year. Great drumming across the board.
the reverse could actually be argued. BD and Bloo doesnt write nearly as much note rams and technical stuff as SCV, not that I like SCV rams but theyre not by any means easier than BD or Bloo
@@Prof.CheeseDog nice - crazy how many lines just kick-ass this year. Y'all are lucky to have Night Beat...probably the best of the summer shows - outside, beautiful college campus - new closer reveals.. damn, I gotta get out there! & agreed... love Crown's show & line...they have the best new closer in my opinion.
Mario Lucero Hello sir, Sorry I am late to reply. I hope this comment is still valid. Cadets scored 13 points above music city at this show? Their percussion beat out many of the other world class corps. They’re not at all in the “same category” as music city. That being said, I do feel like the cadets’ percussion (at least their battery) doesn’t get enough credit. Their writing is very technical and they’re always clean...
So much wonderful drumming and percussion still happening, despite the god-awful “casual” visual slop, invasive and unnecessary electronics, cheesy Pop-culture music gestures, and general pointless mugging and swaggering around. BD’s hand-drumming bit was especially fun.
There was a time when the uniform identified the corps, e.g. The Cadets, The Cavaliers, The Madison Scouts, etc. What happened to that idea? Uniform company marketing? The same thing happened to the music. Unidentifiable!
You are not alone in your observations. I am a "Dinosaur", going back to 1958, and remember what you remember. Sadly, us "Dino's" are NOT DCI's "audience". Drill has been trashed for dance and staging, and running from set to set has replaced, in many cases actual "Marching". The level of talent in todays junior corps is incredible. It's the direction the activity has taken that has driven most of the old drum corps people away.
The drumming is great, and the energy is good, and I understand the changing of the times and the styles, but I do miss the original Cadets and how they adhered to their older traditional look and feel.
Agreed. Right now, it looks like sometime in the last 5 years, DCI got taken over by too-young people with ADD, no real memory of anything, and an obsession with wearing sloppy casual (or even their pajamas) to the formal event. Even Santa Clara has managed to lose their mojo. 😓
The Cadets were disappointing. Not the kids' fault but the program. Looks better than earlier this year. They will be lucky to break 7th. All that jumping around the program very confusing causing them not to be in seq. Need to expand the field to there advantage. No Big WOW factor. These kids work their butt off and deserve a better program. Good Job with other bands. Being from NJ, watched The Cadets since 1978. (The Garfield Cadets and The Cadets of Begen County. By the way, Happy Anniversary!!
Ean Goreham as a cadet fan like you and since I been a fan since 76 the Garfield Cadets, you know the kids the cadets have are the best in the business. I’m happy they brought some new people in.Even you can come up with a better program than the last 3 years. If you want to bring back that spine and goose bumps thrill to compete with the big bands these days you better have a good foundation or else the whole thing collapses. Hope we can get the season in! Good luck and proud of all the kids!!
I've seen high school bands rock the Beatles better than that. You can't play a bazillion notes underneath a Beatles tune and expect to kick it. You just can't. So so so so horrible. And these kids think this crap is good. It just isn't. NOBODY is going to remember these shows.
They all sound and look alike can't tell one from the other horrible Far Cry from a drum and bugle Corps what they do is fine but certainly not a drum and bugle Corps and I know a lot of people will hate my comments but suck it up
Someone replied to my previous posts so I came back to watch this again. Thanks for ruining my night. AWFUL !!! Please stop this crap. Please. Millennials screwing up DCI.
@@ronin8993 Musically these shows make no sense. I mean, look at how many percussive features come and go and everyone sits there. There's no logical or musicality reasoning in the music. And nothing is recognizable. You're not going to hear this once and then sing it in your head. It's a train wreck. And then the visual ... everything is in the front stage of the field. No marching, no shapes. Just a bunch of running around and body movements. It's stupid. Visually boring.
The reason a lot of moments in recent shows are in the front of the field is because JUDGES CAN’T GO ON THE FIELD. Show designers and drill writers have to accommodate for rules changes like this when designing shows. A perc judge can’t accurately score a battery if they’re playing all the way behind the back hash the whole show with a full hornline in between them.
I’ve been out of the loop for 3/4 years… What the fuck is this? What are these uniforms? They aren’t even reminiscent of the actual unis that define the corps…. And There aren’t shakos anymore? And The props? This feels like a giant WGI show with horns and that’s…. Why is the front split like that and back on the field?…. Maybe some enjoy it and I don’t mean to be the old guy resistant to change but this is… just not what I’d want to see. I get it connecting with audiences keeping them interested bringing in new fans. I guess demoulin had a fucking field day. Should’ve invested in them back in 2012 lmfao

Crown's dynamics
are out of the world, the contrast they've created for themselves is amazing and I'm here for it. Huge fan.
Everyone always talks about scv and bd for drums, but crown used to be a LOT WORSE at drums and I’m stoked to see them doing so well this year
BD for drums.... ummmm you sure about that?
well they did score .05 points ahead of SCV in drums on finals night
This year I would say heck yeah, BD drums this year was good
Crusaders down a tenor...& still crushing!! Cadets - underrated, again. SCV, freakishly clean...
Fantastic compilation braddah... thanks!!
Dude I was there and Crusaders tenors were louder than everyone else's except SCV and Crown

skaynekurtis got a pretty sick video of the cadets quads on my channel if you want to check it out!
Crown: let's just throw our instruments into the air and give the entire crowd simultaneous heart attacks!
yea why not
oh man.. that is funny
YAWN
Funnelshake old drum corp trumpet player just dies
much respect to the SCV synth player playing those runs along with the mallets in the first clip
blue stars marching in beanies?? how many of y'all got heat stroke from a show so far
around 7 lol
Better than marching in plastic shakos with no air flow, still prefer shakos tho 💀😂
The cadets play nearly the hardest shit every year and they’re in the same category as Music city? Someone please help me understand.

0:46 THAT SHOT WAS CLEAN
Caden Weems it really was lol
Ur doing God’s work. Thank you
Bluecoats drumline: controlled chaos
Feel like if Boston had their 4th tenor they'd have scored higher.
2:13 was definitely vivaldi's winter I from the pit, I wish they played more of it
There’s no display of confidence better than @15:30
Fantastic camera work.
Who else came here and clicked on the SCV time stamp immediately
12:37 i like the two playing rock paper scissors in the back
Boston had such a good show this year
I honestly wish they'd just replace the horns with more drums and have 30 minute drum features.
That's a seperate event known as WGI
That's funny. I was going to say just the opposite!
Deploy the turntables and drum machines. What's left?
BLUE DEVILS!!! NO1
I like how for bloo you literally just put their whole closer
The order of the corps you put in this video is probably the order i want at the end of the season. go bloo!
Thank u for ur service
Only vid I can listen to SCVs amazing ending to their show
Thank you for this video
3:35 I thought judges weren't aloud on the field
I've heard that was to protect judges, and they can choose to field judge if they want
They were only able to go so far into the field, like up to the numbers I think.
Hi gabe
Crown definitely had the best drums I've ever seen or heard. They are literally gods amongst men
Not compared to SCV though
BD's show is a snoozefest. Being talented and being entertaining are two entirely different concepts apparently.
Nah I thought there music this year was awesome compared to some other years they won (and compared to all the other shows this year,) you trippin
Impossible listening assignment for those snares in the first clip.
This should be entitled drum line features
Cavaliers tasty, nothing like some good macbeats™️
Bluecoats really won the crowd that night. Myself included
Bluecoats just look like the have the most fun in their shows and that reflects to the crowd
Bloo!

Nick D drum corps moved forward creatively 🤘🏿
Get good. I can tell who everyone is. Pay some attention the activity you’re criticizing 🤷🏻♂️
Yeah man, it’s totally impossible to tell what the bluecoats are playing. You’re right, it’s way easier to tell which symphony of x composer it is
Only took me one viewing of each show. Most people have attention spans of longer than 10 seconds sir

I definitely don’t miss the matching snare heights. If you were 5”8 and below you’d have your Elbows to your nipples to play snare 😅

Man, I can’t wait until DCI gets out of this “sloppy casual look” phase. 🙄
Also I can’t believe BD won with that shitty ass guard 😂😂😂
