Boston is my number 1 this year in terms of Drum Breaks, it just hits you like a truck. Colin Mcnutt is doing a great job there, pretty much Cadets 2.0. Also kinda triggered the Cadets drumbreak is easier, hope it was just for this performance and by finals it's back to what it was.
@@escapethematrix4204 I think I mistyped when I wrote that, I meant to say it got easier. By the end of the season a lot of it had been turned into just eighth notes if you compare. You're not wrong at all I just mistyped.
G-0 you’re absolutely right. From the Spring Training video, I learned the beats and noticed later in the season how they dropped most of their 3’s, and pretty much absolutely cut the drum set/pit solo (which bummed me out, I loved it.)
14:09 - 14:17 is literally the cleanest snare feature I have ever heard oml😍 And not to mention the cleanest down beat your ears will ever hear at 14:17 holyyyyy
The rimshot at the end of the quad break at 13:09 hurt my ears because I had my headphones too loud. I wish I could’ve seen SCV live this year. Amazing show!
Dude, I’m really not a fan of Devil’s show this year. Like worse than Ink not a fan. They should definitely be 3rd with Coats in 2nd. But that’s just my opinion.
And, honestly, it's only the difference of .15 of a point. This means that they're almost neck and neck to each other, and if they apply themselves, I can see them coming out on front.
I want more videos like this. Top drumlines on the move performing their signature parts in the big moment. Great sound quality and picture. Big ups! You’ve earned a new sub!
This is such an amazing spectacle of precision and performance!! I just wish that we could keep electronics out and keep it acoustic (I'm and old timer!!
Wow! Vanguard! This from a Crown fan! (Yes, it was the Phat Groove at the end, but that was SEXY! Say what ya like, but when that Bass drops!) Cheers from South Africa!
anyone know the figure rennick wrote for the snares at 14:50, it shows up in the tenors, too, right after. I haven't heard some shit like that since the slurring in 96-01 scv, casella-type stuff. sounds like grandmas put on paradiddlediddles. any rate, fucking sick!
this crowd is like.....totally silent and still. almost eerie. what happened to vocalizing excitement? i certainly used to appreciate it when i marched. where you at murfreesboro??? the members are throwing down!!
As someone who was at that performance, the crowd did go wild, but it was usually on brass hits or areas the were cool. The last 2 SCV hits were 2 ones that we screamed at. I was more down Side 1, so not near the 50. All of the people in my group, and the whole section I sat in, screamed a lot (or maybe it was just me screaming over everyone, not sure).
Being there in person has no comparison to watching it on RUclips but forgive me for saying ,I find these shows very similar to each other and quite frankly bloody boring.Techically outstanding. I marched in the 80’s uk so what do I know.
You know what's good...and you are quite right...this ain't it! I find most shows from circa 2010 to today similarly boring yet confusing. None of the modern corps seem to have their own, identifiable style as was the norm in the not-so-distant past.
John S It’s good to know I’m not the only one who thinks it.One of the aspects I find difficult to understand is the amplification and the strange commentary and narrative. No doubt if one these corps was in front of me it would stir up some emotion but I can’t help thinking back 20/30 years ago when it really did make your hair stand on end.
avaboot Amen...instead of an exciting "off the line" piece, we now have a recorded voice-over and a seemingly endless marimba/vibes intro before the brass starts playing some un-relatable, syncopated mess.
I normally don't like the blue devils snares or their technique. But the moonwalking plus the grandmas during it was impressive. Plus the quads playing along to some Tonakkol was impressive once i knew some context. When I first watched the BD lot video, i was like "thats weird thats the most empty BD quad solo i think i've ever heard."
Get those judges off the field. When I go to a show I can judge perfectly well from the sidelines. I'm surprised there haven't been some real catastrophes with judges running over people, or vice versa. Also, it's not even close. SCV is so much better.
programmed wrong I was in a high school band competition a few months ago and this judge ran into me.... our band got points off because of the judge.... it was his fault lol I was just doing the drill like I was supposed to...
@@dracolerro2592 Wow! That's crazy. I can understand if it were 1990's era drill, but these days the performers are on a whole other athletic level. They're running on the fields. Get smarter, judges! Quit running in to the Eddy's of the world. LoL!
Cadets were definitely better than 7th... Man Line should be fierce this year... but SCV will be insane-sauce...with nearly the whole snare line returning. A lot of outstanding center snares leading lines this year - Gardner, Olander, Galetta... should be off-da-hook! Rose Bowl shows...30 days out!
Nobody wears hats or shakos anymore? That move classic SCV does where they look down and to the left just doesn’t look the same without a big brim and feather plume. Just sayin. I’m just old. Great video though man!

Jesus… close your eyes, you can’t tell one corps from the other anymore. It’s an endless drone of frantic 180bpm, with cheap synthesizer effects tossed in. Then open your eyes, and everybody’s moving the same and dressing in the same conformist-hip “casual” un-uniforms. The cumulative effect manages to be pointlessly hyped-up, exhausting to the ears, and weirdly boring at the same time - like somebody who’s forgotten how to tell a coherent story, and now just screams random excited noises for no reason, thinking you’ll get excited because of it. This is making me sick. I think, and I think most of the public would agree with me, that the band, flag batonists and gun batonist are enough. What's with all the props? And, now they have to do a play, too? Who's doing all the work?
Boston has by far my favorite book this year. It's a fun and exciting to watch on the field and makes you want to hear it again. Idk what mcnutt is feeding them over there. But keep that shit up
You are a legend for keeping vanguards closer in the video
Crown's playing with some massive balls. So much force going through their drums.
their drums just keep getting better and better every year
15:35 damn that DM goes hard
