  • Drum Corps from the stands often doesn't do justice for the true difficulty on the field.
    Watch some of the hardest drill moves with rehearsal footage along the final performance!
    I know I missed some, so let me know what I missed! If there are enough...maybe a part two will come soon

And Cavs 98, and Cadets 96 (last minute especially), and the expanding and contracting box in BD 97 (possibly the most perfectly executed move ever, frankly). and on and on. For those too lazy to spend time rewinding the clip over and over, he starts on the right side arm end of the first cross, just off the 45 yard line near the hash marks and directly in front from the snare drums. Then through some unbelievable cardio and Zingali's insane drill, he ends up on the bottom of the second cross, down by the front sideline.
      Simply astounding.

    The backwards speed marching at 0:53- I did a chart like that in university but it was further distanced so it was a legit run in double time. It was all of sax section running backwards with super strides with the susas right in front of us. We had already been expressing issue with the drill because the susas couldn't see where they were going and one wrong stride and it was gonna be a huge painful domino effect. Eventually we convinced the director that the chart was impossible and it was thankfully changed and the double time was made normal and the formation moved up 10 yards so we didnt need to go as far. Thank god. We all almost died lol

    Blue Knights 2008, I know I'm a little biased, but I remember specifically marching 2.5 to 5s while pumping so much air through my horn. And that wasn't even the toughest drill knowing what some of the other corps members were marching. Honestly though I loved the intensity of that drill it really pushed us all.

    First, Thank You! ( In my best Kanye voice) I'ma let you finish but, Cavaliers 2003 Spin Cycle was probably the hardest visual program of all time! And, I'm a Cadet! The Hardest ending. Cadets 2008. I used to watch them kill themselves in rehearsals. But, they got it!

    Crown ‘12 could have featured the very first move to show after the announcement. It’s honestly probably the hardest single movement for the whole corps.
    6 to 5, crabbing straight to the left, at 196bpm, from a complete standstill, with a 25lb snare drum strapped to me, required a degree of explosiveness that I was just barely capable of by the end of the season lol

    The entire snare line this year has to play the hardest part of the entire show for them while effectively sprinting diagonally backwards through guard. This is high school marching band and most of the snares were basses last year and never had to run like that. They go like 20 yards back left at the same time through flags in 10 counts or something.

    Opening sets of Sensemaya had me doing 3 to 5s backwards, then had 3 to 5s HORIZONTALLY in both the end of the opener and the closer.
    I marched 5 seasons of corps, but that was easily the hardest show I ever did, also a hell of an ageout. ••|•|•••

    Should have been titled, "DCI's most tiring drill" lol Where's 2008 Cadets? (last minute of show) Some others: 1989 Suncoast Sound, 2010 Phantom, 1997 Cadets, 99 Devils (especially backing that block in the ballad), 2004 SCV, 2000-2004 Cavaliers...there's just too many to name. SCV had a LOT of really difficult drill throughout the years. If I had to pick a "hardest overall show", I'd have to go with 2012 Carolina Crown "For the common good". The demands that were placed on each performer throughout that entire show were just insane.

    • @japetrini

      89 Suncoast sound is one of the greatest shows of all time! 30 years ahead of its time. It was what drum corps has become.

    • @jeffgray7922
      @jeffgray7922 2 года назад

      @@japetrini No offense, but I don't think that modern drumcorps is anywhere close to being as good as 89 Suncoast Sound. Don't get me wrong, there are things I still like, but it's few and far between anymore. 2022 was the worst year for corps in a long time for me. There's way too much voice over, singing and narration to enjoy most shows any more. I did somehow really enjoy 2022 Bluecoats despite the constant narration. I just try to zone it out which works, but I'd rather it not be there in the first place. It is what it is.
