Vanguard is seriously underrated. They deserve so much more love. Their "Mars" feature is fucking fire. Their "Phantom" feature was so lyrical, it was so amazing. And then their Les Mis show, that was so powerful I almost cried. They need more recognition. They should honestly be getting top 3. I get their lines arent as perfect as the blue devils and everything but their music effect is out of this fucking world
Agreed. I love their Les Mis show. It was so different. I was expecting completely different music. I love their percussion feature of Dog Eats Dog. That was definitely a surprise. And the colorguard feature with the single mellophone player...wow! It was such a simple moment, but it said so much. And their uniforms were on point, too.
Drum corps was so much better. I haven't been to a show in probably 6-7 years because I just can't get into the new show designs. I try to watch them on YT and can't even finish them. I really miss this style of show.
I’m an old school fan and Watching 2012 now and watched previously 1999, 2005 and 2008, always a fan of them and phantom . Always classy and professional. Enjoy every show!! Hope they come back stronger!!! 💪🏻💪🏻
I marched DCI for the first time in 2012 and when I got to see their show in person at the first regional I remember the opener alone was the thing that solidified my love for DCI. Thank you so much for uploading this and allowing me to take another trip down memory lane.

Not gonna happen. People have become seriously addicted to the half-assed trippy abstraction mess that is modern DCI and WGI. The modern style is pretty comparable to “modern art”.
@@THEnelsonbruhs i'm ngl, i disagree. the shows in 2023 were so good, but the only thing i'd change about modern dci is the drill, to make it cooler and crazy like it in the 2000s - early 2010s. cadets 2023 got it right in their closer.
@@fortune8133 I don’t have a problem with people liking modern shows, I just hate it when people act like every year of dci is the “best year ever”. I’ve heard people say that literally every year since 2019 and it’s really annoying.

This is essentially our HS band model. Full field formations. Nice front ensemble. Great ensemble playing. Great marching. Not a whole lot of dancing. Classy pieces the crowd can relate to. We can’t go full on classical and not lose the parents, but we can include some and some Broadway in our shows. Seriously underrated now looking through the lens of the 2020s. Fabulous show.
Ahh, the masters of the soft closer. ❤😊 As much as I despise show rewrites, I loved this….even throwing in of ‘Mars’. But then again, I’m biased. #❤SCV Please bring back the uniforms in ‘24!!!

Couldn’t agree more. Some theatrics is great but it’s kind of out of hand. It’s more pleasurable to the performer now than the viewer

This was the whole reason I chose vanguard in 2012 over phantom regiment. I hope they'll bring back classic DCI
